The Process

In this video, I use Adobe Photoshop CC to turn 3 popular junk food Package Designs into "healthy" snacks. It's amazing how deceptive marketing can be. I used a variety of skills including: Logo Design, Illustration, Photobashing, and Painting to create all of these unique designs.
I had a ton of fun making this one!

Only thing I would have changed is making the “chocolate character” round instead of square, to represent the actual M&M’s chocolate
Idea for you! Design a vehicle wrap for a food truck! Either make up a brand or re-design one that you think needs it - or do both. Perfectly suited for your style and a larger canvas to play with. Would love to see it!
Love this idea. I think it would be really fun to have it be a really photo background as well instead of just being on a white background/product photo type background. That way you could envision what the food truck would actually look like if you were to run into it out in the wild.

Funnily enough, I think your design for Mountain Dew looks more like alcohol than anytning! I work retail and so i see a lot of ipas and such that have that sorta style to them on their cans!
The fact that "Mountain Dew" is also a nickname for moonshine also adds to it for me lol

No joke, if I ever find myself in a position where I'm releasing a product line, I'm getting you in on the branding. Your designs are so unique and really pop out compared to a lot of the generic packaging you see on store shelves these days.
I think the Doritos were the real winners this video (although I wasn't a fan of the accent that came off the D. Looked a little untidy compared to the rest of the packaging)

The Doritos packaging was extremely surprising, I don’t think anyone else could’ve done a better job
It's an amazing packaging, but it screams "industrial" even more than the original one hahaha. All of these do. The smooth shapes and smooth editing only reinforces that artificial feeling.
I'm not sure what he was thinking about with the title of the video, it should have been "I made packagings look more appetising".
@@EugeneOneguine I hadn't thought about it that way but you're right, in fact none of them actually look healthier. The mtn dew one looks like a beer and the m&m's look like something protein when in reality they are not. The one with the Doritos is the one that fulfilled the objective the most in my opinion, although it doesn't quite satisfy me either.

It's crazy how much power you have over my buying decisions... I would pick up packs of those M&Ms in a heartbeat. It almost looks like a protein bar version.

I love how even in times of minimalism and simplicity, he manages to make logos and packaging complex but not overwhelming. He makes truly complex pices of art that somehow still seem to be minimalistic and just excell at communicating what the prodcut is trying to communicate. A true artist worthy of more recognition

Interestingly, the Doritos look a lot like a store brand version of the original Doritos, complete with the slightly different appearance but incredibly similar style.
The Mountain Dew also totally look like some kind of kombucha stuff you'd see in the more indie part of the fridge section at a supermarket or bottle shop. Very good!

To me this looks like the work of someone who was an actual food package designer 40 years ago who time traveled forward to 2023 and is now trying to put use his skill in modern day. If it modern vs old is better or worse is i guess a personal taste.

Your creative process is phenomenal. It's always a blast watching through these and even replaying them to catch details I may have missed. I especially appreciate the way you explain what you're doing and the tips you give to people who might want to try these out for themselves. Fun fact. Back during the great depression, Mr. Goodbar was advertised as a nutritious snack labeling the peanuts as having the same amount of nutrition as a bunch of meat, which was expensive and hard to come by then. Obviously labeling a peanut chocolate bar as being as healthy as meat wouldn't fly now but back then when times were tough and advertising was less regulated it worked quite well for Hershey giving the poor America a "cheap healthy food"
