If you enjoyed this and would like to see another will it rotisserie let me know below, there's probably still quite a fair few ideas to consider! Here's the video when I got it for the first time, it was really impressive and I really like this bit of kit ruclips.net/video/bE92JUYrbBQ/видео.html
I still think the good doctor should be involved. I would love to see what craziness he would put on it, probably one of those fake McDonalds burgers he has been reviewing lately.
In Germany we have cake called "Baumkuchen" (Tree cake) and it's basically Cake from a rotisserie. Small layers of dough are dripped on and once the layer is baked, new dough is dripped on. And in the end, when you cut the cake it has rings, like a tree. It's very popular in the Christmas time
That cake at the end reminds me of a thing I had in Europa when I was younger. It was on a horizontal pole above a fire and a person would pour batter over it making a hard pastry. Effectively what you did but cooked more and was a lot more spiky.
I had rotisserie pineapple at Dinner by Heston a few years ago, they had 3 kebab rotisseries full of pineapple being basted, came with an alcohol infused brioche and it was fantastic!
My takeaway from the first 52 seconds: Barry has pretty much all but admitted he loves and seeks to protect Stuart Ashens more than his own wife and kids...
@@robertschnobert9090 low enough to melt in the oven when my aunt forgot the take it off of the bottom of the pizza that was being done for the buffet of our family New Year party.
I am almost certain, your machine is missing its doors. Usually they have a heat resistant tempered glass door to protect you as it cooks. I wonder if you can find a replacement 🤔 it would be safer.
While I'm sure there's no practical way to actually enjoy it, I really want to see a chocolate rabbit turning on the rotisserie and slowly melting into the tray.
"I'm not sure if this looks like the end of a cooking video, or the end of a really wild party. Yeah, that was fun" ..... famous last words before cleaning cake batter for hours out of every crack of a rotisserie 😂🤣
You essentially made a vertical spit cake (gateau a la broche), which is traditionally done on a spit, baked by an open fire. Lay it horizontally, increase the rotation speed and voila :)
I was salivating *so much* at that pineapple! It's one of my all-time favourite fruits and I go through a full one to myself at least once a week. If you're near an Asda they sometimes sell jumbo pineapples - my OH bought me one when he went shopping once and it was huge (and absolutely gorgeous)!
That cake is similar to a very traditional Lithuanian dessert called šakotis! I'm pretty sure the batter recipe is similar too. The only difference is that šakotis (or tree cake as some call it) is baked by pouring the batter on a horizontal rod that's rotating. That way it gets these spikes that make it a "tree cake"
You're Ove Glove would be perfect for taking those skewers off. The pineapple and the cake together would be fabulous. You could even add some whipped cream (sweetened of course).
I feel like Barry could've benefited from the use of a piping bag or plastic freezer baggy with a corner lopped off. If it works, I'd love to see him make giant waffle cones by applying a continuous spiral from tip to base. Allowing the cake to become crispy, golden brown as he reloads for the next layers. I bet it would look and taste amazing?
There's a restaurant in my city that does all their meats on the rotisserie BBQ. But the thing they are famous for is the rotisseried pineapple. We've been there a few times and I can tell you it's divine. It's a flavour you'll never forget.
I think with the cheese sandwich i would've put foil around it to stop it from burning too early, and then i would take the foil off to let the bread toast
rotisserie rum pineapple sounds absolutely divine. what a great idea! I'd have hammered a bunch of cloves into it too, give it that little extra-spiced kick.
Stewart often eats canned food from the 1950's. I think a few boiling hot wires will not faze him at all. He may actually welcome something hot enough to kill mold and rot...
Just out of Curiosity have you ever heard of pot holders? They are great for protecting your hands. Also keep Chole in the videos, the kid knocks me out ,she is great.
Thanks for another great video Barry, can’t wait to see another will it rotisserie? An idea came to me what about a smallish gammon joint? Keep up great work 👍
Lithuanians and germans have a rotisserie baked cake. The Lithuanian tree cake, known as raguolis (which means "spiked") or sakotis (which means "branched") they are cooked on a horizontal rotisserie and the result creates spikes all up and down the cake. Give it a google for the visual, they are very impressive cakes and are traditional at weddings or other big/important celebrations.
That pineapple rum dripping mixed with a bit more rum and pineapple juice, a touch of coconut cream, and some diced pineapple floating in the glass comes to mind.
The pineapple with rum sounds pretty good. I don't have a rotisserie but I'll bet I could get similar results with the broiler on my toaster oven. If I don't burn the house down with flaming rum anyway.
Should have used a piping bag for the cake batter. I expected it to look like Baumkuchen, with distinct light and brown layers like the year rings on a tree log. Can the rotisserie be laid on its side? A horizontal spit would work much better without the need for a cone
Very ironic choice for the music played when you sped up the footage of you coating the cake cone. O Holy Night. I was actually thinking it kind of looked like a Christmas tree. Barry, that same concept with green colouring, sugar star topper, icing tinsel and decoration balls. Christmas cooking special. DOOOOO EEEETTTTTT!
I looked up some rotisserie cakes & found spit roast videos which makes way more sense & one was called a butter cake so I'm thinking that's the recipe that calls for two sticks of butter. It looks brushed on because it's perfectly cooked & you can see the rings of the individual layers.

Keep the videos coming … I don’t care what you do , but these videos are great 👌👌
You should definitely do another one of these! Cookie dough would be interesting I think. 🤗
This one is an oldy, but a goody...How about rotisery corn on the cob? Slather it in melted butter as it cooks?
Might have looked a bit better using a piping bag?

I came here to say the same :D
@Barry Lewis we most definitely need a video of you trying this cake! To answer your question, yes we do need a rotisserie play list!
This needs nore notice i want to see this done!
Should be noted that Baumkuchen is spun horizontally, though.

"It's just only 50 quid mate." Now that's how you negotiate.

haha good point
The answer is always yes ;)

Dude put some cinnamon on that pineapple, throw it on ice cream or in a white wine sangria, it’s like cake.
Love these videos, keep em up!!
Sounds great!
Barry says "im sure it'll be fine"...we all get flashbacks to the toaster fire 🔥

I thought you were going to put the cake batter into the cone, not on the outside. And my mind was just «how…?». Now I see 😂

Hasn't Barry been to Dinner? The pineapple there is the best!
Barry's personality is awesome...it's never boring;

As a bonus, we got to see if Barry would rotisserie. The answer is no but he does become well cooked.
"It's just only 50 quid, mate" = priceless
With the season, make the cone dough Xmas tree with green fooddye, M&M's for balls, frosted sugar for tinsel and powdered sugar for snow
I'm glad Barry didn't use the polystyrene cone as it has a low melting temperature and gives of toxic gas when burnt.
The cake reminds me of a “cake” from southern Sweden called Spettekaka, aka Spear cake. Would loooove to see you try to make one at home 🙌🏻
While I'm sure there's no practical way to actually enjoy it, I really want to see a chocolate rabbit turning on the rotisserie and slowly melting into the tray.
Fill the tray with fondue dipping items. They get chocolate at the bunny melts.

I love the Christmas music during the cake cone cookery.
In south Sweden they have a cake called "spettekaka", which is made by piping batter on a funnel just like you did but the rotisserie is laying down.
