Shoulda got the train to Norwich. Book in advance and get a Railcard.
For some reason I heard "surströmming" instead of "sodastream" at the end ... maybe something for the next time you're over there?
Rebrand?
It was good to see a cameo of The Worlds Sharpest Knife™
that thing was an angry device
@@mrbarrylewis It is an elegant weapon, for a more civilised age.

It made me watch the episode again, because its that damn good!
"I hate pickled ginger, definately put that in." I love you guys.
Should've done one last collab with CheapShow in Eli Silverman's flat aka The House of Pickles. That hairy Hobbit would've wolfed down a sushi & pickled ginger crepe like a pig while Paul wretches at being in the same room as seafood! Then they repeatedly call each other the c-word while Barry & Stuary quietly slip out.

The ginger is a palate cleanser, eaten between sushi bites, not with it.
"Oh, is that the thing?"
"It is, indeed, The World's Sharpest Knife™."
“Bloody let’s” I love how English that was haha.
Ashens says it a lot.
@@ze_rubenator "bloody hell, am I still saying that?"
456asd654 I’m British maybe I should start using that in my everyday life 🤔
Me: smiles in British pride
Barry: "That was a long, long drive"
Americans: "I drive that far to buy milk every day"
For Christmas my family and I had a 16 hour drive
2 hours every day just to go from home to school and then 2 more hours to come back.
Australia enters the chat
Antarctica enters the chat
@@JonatasAdoMI’d never go to school if that was me 😂
I would love to see Ashens on Good Mythical Morning. He wouldn't even blink at some of the things they eat!
Jackie Tearie possibly our British humour can be quite different to American humour
Well I need that!
@@therunawaykid6523 I’m American and I prefer these two over GMM any day. I watched them for a year or so in my early 20s, but I got sick of how over the top they always were.
I always imagined Ashens' home was as dingy as his sofa, but his place looks very nice.
He only shows the sofa nowadays
He used to show his house and it looked pretty meh, but I feel like he's gotten a new place since then.
Isn’t he sharing a filming studio with nostalgia nerd now?
@@doubtful_seer they share an office and as far as I know most of the surviving sofa is there. The early videos were filmed in his Dad's house until Ashen Sr. was smart enough to replace his decrepit old 80's brown sofa. (Which is an odd thought that the sofa's soon gonna be 40 assuming it isn't already)
is it an apartment he had to take an elevator to get there
Just, as an American I'm like "four hour drive? That's just a day trip."
“Why didn’t I fly” lol, crazy Europeans
I was thinking that. Though I would've left mid-day at the latest. And if I planned on driving home, that's got to be at least 5 AM.
The uk is pretty damn small, its probably 6-7 hours to go across the country depending on traffic, i live in the most eastern part of england and it takes about 3-4 hours to get to london
Don't matter how big or small it is and Asteroid is bigger than both
'Remove the sheath & expose the sausage'.....jeez, I've just laughed so hard that the other bus passengers think I'm nuts!!!!!
gotta love ashens look!
8:36 A girl called Sue Perb! I love stuarts laugh 😂
Fact: the saying “up the ante” means to raise the risk as it refers to in poker to raise the amount that you could (possibly) lose *or* win
I love these 2 guys together, it really shows the difference in British accents!
two grown men having a blast cooking together. relationship goals.
The man in the moon came tumbling down
And asked his way to Norwich;
He went by the south and burnt his mouth
With supping cold pease porridge.
in Denmark we have two kinds of crepes: food crepes are traditionally thick and used for dinner meals where they're rolled around meats, but with the introduction of tortillas they've gone out of fashion (it's basically the same idea as an enchilada). So the idea of the sausage roll crepes is not that strange. And then we have dessert crepes which contain sugar and are a dessert similar to what you get in Germany and France
If you take a crepe apart, does it become decrepit?
Boom boom cha
Bob Ratliff no it comes a piece of crepe 💩 huh huh 😉
"Will it-? " The drive was worth it. Thank you Barry, Love these!❤
Holy Crepe this is a good video.
thepowditchinator Michael scarn!!
Cleanup on isle 5.
I would have said it was a load of crepes, myself :P
You beat me to it! Just when you think you're clever...
I love pickled ginger! But it's not meant to be eaten WITH the sushi. It's meant to be eaten BETWEEN sushi bites to cleanse the palate.
I wish my girlfriend looked at me the way ashens looks at Barry at 5:30
"Good for a party"
A crepe party, the most middle-class of parties!
Next time you should try flavoured crepes. Hot sauce in the batter. Baby food batter. Mashed/pureed roasted veggies. Yum!
The best Crepes are with Kinderriegel or Banana & Nutella. At least in my opinion. But there are actually loads of options in Germany savory as well as sweet.
I love savoury crepes with egg and cheese!!!
Coming up next on Ashens:
Lut Crepe
"Bloody hell- are we still eating these?"
You could do a, will it smoothie? All you need is a nutribullet & a variety of interesting ingredients.

Will it pizza I would like to see🍕
I've seen ashens videos before.
It won't crepe, and it's 30 years out of date.
Lmaoooo@ Something the cat has thrown up on the sushi roll.
Healthy Recipe Channel I was hurt because i buy that sushi and that roll is the best bit 😭😭
Don't like it... *Let's put some more in!* xD
the worlds sharpest knife was the first ashens video i ever saw
An Ashens cooking channel sounds both epic and terrifying. I have visions of it being full of recipes of stuff found in skips, or the back of a sofa. "To make this recipe, you will need some ingredients that are only labelled in Korean, and some other ingredients that are only two months out of date, and one other item in an unlabelled, opaque pack that feels squeezy, and makes a sloshy noise when you shake it."
When i see this two guys i Imaging what a nice weekend they will spent together. They friendship developed over yt right? They seem like they know each other since Kindergarten
*puts an eclair in a crepe*
“That’s all vegan”
Think you’re a bit mixed up about what vegan means Barry
Barry, we here in Australia laugh at your long drive to Norwich. I've travelled 400 kilometres to South Australia for lunch more than once. :-)
I can’t believe I’ve only just worked it out - Barshens is Barry + Ashens. 🙈
Clare Hughes took you long enough 😏
Why did I watch this with a serious cough. I keep almost blacking out from laughter.
Of course you do
Barry you and Ashens work so great together. Please keep doing these videos, they’re so fun.
*WHAT A TREAT!* Barry and Ashens! 😀 I forgot Barry changed his channel name and my notification popped up and I didn't realize what this video was or who it was! YAYYYYY
Love this, its a bit like the good mythical morning videos. But with a barshens twist. What about doing will it smoothie.
Mackerel (saba) sushi is pretty standard in Japan. Mackerel is one of the most popular fish here, although it's more commonly eaten grilled or simmered in miso sauce.
Oh my God it's the world's sharpest knife.
Don't drop it straight down or it will borrow to the center of the Earth like the prophecy said! GAME CARTRIDGES AND BOTTLE CAPS BEWARE!
Oh he referenced that joke right after.
Nevermind then.
I have the same knife Ashens. I've had mine for 10 years and still sharp. Best investment ever and awesome video Barry.
“When everyone was having 40 pints of ribena and wondered why their child’s teeth were falling out” ah the good ol days
Sue Perb was a character in the British tv show “Miranda” for those who don’t know. If it’s also a real person’s name, that’s amazing... xD
Lol I love that a 4 hour drive is considered long, us Americans are like " we wouldn't have even left left our state" lol love seeing life on the other side of the pond, thanks Barry!
I love when the both of you get together😂😂
Stuart's expression when Barry is saying they're going to "remove the sheath and expose the sausage..."
I love this format soooo much. You guys are amazing 🥰
Mrs. Barry needs to supervise you two. Hahaha
Ashens is my brother from another mother yes.
Ashens has got such a hilarious british personality that shines through even better when he's in collabs. Loved the video, lots of laughs
3:20 ashens looks so happy
I literally LOL'd when they bit in to the sushi crepe seeing both their reactions to it.
Never seen Barry with glasses before.
I immediately thought: Barry Potter
World's Sharpest Knife was the first video I watched from Ashens, It holds a special place in my heart.
Ashens going on a power trip with The World's Sharpest Knife™ was the very first Ashens video I saw.
Best thing I've watched all day made me laugh so much 🤣😂
cheers Gabby that was quick!
pickle ginger is used as a palette cleanse not meant to be eaten together with the sushi but after different sushi bits
I want an Ashens house tour!
Man, these two are normalising older vloggers and I love that. Maybe in a couple decades vloggers in their 40s will be commonplace, since they're all in their 20s now haha.
If you put a length of fried sausage meat in a crepe rather than bake it in a sausage roll, one advantage is you could run a line of condiment up the inside without it ending up cooked. Lovely!
At 07:50, when Barry says: "...Remove the sheath, and expose the sausage...", Stuart's face is a picture. And at 10:22, when Barry mashes the Sushi up, Sushi chefs everywhere burst into tears, and ready their World's Sharpest Knives™ to commit seppuku.
I just use my egg pan* to make crepes.
* - Smallest frying pan.
Been waiting for this all day!😄
I've been car lagged all day!
The first crepe is the "test" crepe, watch Julia Child.
You should do a "will it spherificate" with your spherificator.
As a father of a 10month old, I have the rusks and fruit puree baby foods in my cupboard. No word of a lie, I'm inspired to make something.
In my stoner days, I remember making French toast with white chocolate milk instead of the plain stuff, and then covered my toast with Coco Pops and a big blob of black current jam.
I love how Barry turns into Gollum when he eats the hot sauce and eclair one 😂
I still sometimes eat rusks 🙊 when I'm unwell usually haha. Comfort food.
I'm wathing these videos 2 years later to honor Ashens traditions.
Ashens has such a bizarre kitchen/conservatory setup
The counter they are using was probably meant to be a bar for cocktail parties. It seems to be a mid 20th century middle class home. They could pass dirty glasses back to the kitchen and pass trays of hors d'oeuvres out of the kitchen.
I love watching the two of you together. Great chemistry, and very funny!
I love the old Bashens format. From before barshens. Especially the vids with emma
tricky to those ones now, we're loving the new version - we had a guy that was in the N64 goldeneye game, dr doak on yesterday and are talking to some pretty cool people to come on soon!
@@mrbarrylewis I'm really enjoying the new podcast, and I've always been a fan of barshens, it's just videos like this take me back to before the r in barshens
Chocolate with hot sauce is hardly an unusual combination; lots of dishes from central and south america use it (yeah, you wouldn't have the actual éclair). Also, sausage crêpes are fairly common in several European countries. Sometimes the crêpe is breaded (after being wrapped around the sausage) and fried, as well.
So those weren't really "crazy" combinations, just crappy (crêpy?) versions.
I get such satisfaction finding out that Ashens kept The World's Sharpest Knife™
Canadians would see the drive to Norwich in hours driven, and honestly, a 4hr drive would be a lazy Sunday drive for most of us. I'm about 45 minutes closer to Ottawa than Toronto. You sweet lil Brits with your "long" distances!
It takes 24 hours (one full day, non-stop) to drive across Ontario on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 17) (this goes from Ontario to Manitoba on the west side, and Quebec on the east side ((though the QC side is much closer to where I am right now))). It takes 8 hours to drive Ontario's longest freeway (Hwy 401) from end-to-end.
Having said all that, I am gonna now watch the flippin' awesome crepe story! Batter up!
Barry, when you get time, we had a restaurant in France randomly make a dish for a vegetarian girlfriend and it was amazing:
Squid ink in the batter to make a black crepe, filled with some freshly steamed veg (Broccoli, carrots, whatever you like) and Gruyere, rolled up and topped with a bit of cream. Seasoned as you like.
We've made it again several times since then.
Wooden stick? I use a flat griddle and my bare hands lol. Just swirl the batter in the pan so it's thin :) I use my fingers cause the spatulas I have are too thick for crepes, if you don't feel the burn then you're not doing it right :D
That face Stuart made when Barry said expose the sausage.
I love it when you both giggle like school girls!!😄😄😄
I love it when you and Ashens do videos. I get so excited. Barshens is hilarious thank you
I CAN'T BELIEVE ASHEN'S STILL HAS THE 'WORLD'S SHARPEST KNIFE' THAT'S SO FUNNY
Mrs. Barry is so beautiful. Her smile always looks shy. A great family here. So loving and funny.
M8 in America, road trips are up to 2 days. My grandparents’ house is 6 hours from us. We drive there 3 times a year
Wow, you travel ways to hangout w/ Stuart.
That's some friendship.
Angry, fiery cream - Sounds like an awesome band
GIVE ME THEM RUSKS RIGHT NOW, I may be 26 years old but I will still eat a box of them any day, and I have gone to Asda and got two boxes before and went to check out and the lady was like "oh your baby must love them" and I just looked at her and went "No they are for me" the look on her face was priceless, the look on my mums was embarrassment and the look on my was Heaven for I now had more Rusks =)
That gives me the crepes ! Another hilarious video ! Keep them coming. LOL
Proper British banter 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I forget how close everything is in Europe compared to the US. 4 hour trip with a nap in the middle is considered a long drive there, whereas the US people drive 8+ hours in one day, just to see family in a different state
You need 8 hours for 120 miles in the US. You are very lame there ;)
He didn't even drive abroad or anything, just "across the state"
An actual long drive (you can do within a day) would be driving from london to Edinburgh or from Florence to Prague
@@SigridFrings considering the speed limit is usually 55+, an 8 hour drive in the US is at least 440 miles. Places like Texas are nearly 3 times the size of the UK.
@@moremannners Yes i know. The USA is the biggest land, huge, very big, the largest.
But thats not the point. He said he drove 120 miles. So ...120 miles in the UK are 120 miles. In the USA in Germany all around the world. And if you need 8 hours for this 120 miles, you are lame.
@@SigridFrings
Nobody said the mile distances were the same in the two comparisons...?
Are you okay
The sausage roll experiment came close to a traditional northern French market food: The Sausage Galette. This is basically the French equivalent of a sausage roll or hot-dog, with a decent quality sausage wrapped in a galette, which is an unsweetened crepe made with wholemeal flour. Typically served with onions and Dijon Mustard, though you can have them without either of those.
Of course Barry drives a mini
Up the ante is a poker term meaning to increase the initial poker bet or "ante".
Is it called the ante because you place the bet before seeing the cards?
Serious question, I don't know anything about poker.
I really wish there was more of these, I really enjoy them
Ashens just goes round the streets of Norwich with WSK(tm) on his belt, like a medieval knight would carry his sword.
Me: “Mom can we stop for GMM”
Mom: “We have GMM at home
GMM at home…..
I'm from Norwich, lived there for 18 years but now live in a small town about an hour from it
I just looked up how far London is from Norwich, it's a shorter distance than driving from where I live to my brother's house, and we both live in MA one of the small states. Keep forgetting how Massive the US really is.
New England is twice as big as Old England for example xD
Just gave myself whiplash, i clicked so fast.
Hail the grass mask overlord
I choose to believe that description of a fight scene was a spoiler for The Polybius Heist
Oh you sweet man, "a long drive" haha
Im over in the states, and make a trip once a year by car to my inlaws... 15 hours in the car. With children.
Used to do it overnight, but the wife and I arent as young as we used to be.
I make trips like yours all the time, even had service calls 3 hours away, all in a days work I suppose :P
I want to see Barshens on Good Mythical Morning for a Will It video.
