Game over best country song of all time
And that’s what real country music sounds like. Cuts you like a knife.
I will never say he was the greatest... but definitely in the top 5....I love me some old country.. Thank u Pop-Pop for raising me on good country music.
OMG....you're one of the first younger reactors to ever get the real meaning of this song! This song is a country classic. I think you got the full impact of the emotion on this one. Much love and respect to you.
Sceez, you're so cool! Many reactors don't understand the meaning of why he stopped loving her... This is the best tear-jerker country song ever.
Seriously almost no reactors get this song. And those that do normally have to replay it several times before they get it! Great job on the quick up take!
I'm impressed you figured out the story real quick, most reactors don't get it at all.👌👏👍
You're the first reactor that I've watched that caught the meaning of "he stopped loving her today"! Great reaction!
I've watched many reactions to this song, everyone misses they placed a wreath up on his door. As a kid I remember when a death occurred in the family they put a black wreath on the door.
@@cindymclain3260 I'm always trying with telepathy to get them to pay attention to the very first line in the song, "He said I'll love you till I die..."! That one line sets up the entire song. What I've learned about these youngsters reactions is, they have to learn how to hear our music. Most of the music from the past tells a story and that doesn't happen in the music that they're familiar with.
When someone impacts your heart in a way that you can never give it away again because you never really got it back. That's true love.. 💝
Best ever R.I.P. George Jones
In the summer of 1982 I was at Florida State. My room mate was from Florence Alabama. We went to Panama City Beach for the week. There were a couple of girls we knew who's mom and dad on a liquor store on the beach. They said they'd be there so we went. My room mate went to get some beer out of the cooler and I hear him say, "Mr Jones?" I hear the man say, " Paul, what are you doing here?" Paul's dad had built George Jones house on the lake in Florence. For the next two hours we drank beer and talked on the hood of George Jones car.
I went to George in concert years ago. The first guitar rift of this song and the whole stadium was on its feet. Great concert.
This is the saddest song in country music and also the best song ❤
Sceeez!!! This was my dad's song about my mom. He always said he would never stop. Then we found his journal he started writing after he had a major heart attack and lost his memory. He was dead for 20 minutes. He meant it...DAMNIT, I've been crying for a week. Was trying not to today!!
So sorry for your loss.
@@shannonbennett987 Thank you, so much!
This song is still considered the BEST COUNTRY love song ever!!❤
This one is a tear jerker
This may be the best country song ever.
Rose colored glasses by John Conlee 😉
Waylon Jennings said, "If we could all sound the way we wanted, we'd all sound like George Jones." Songs like this one and like The Grand Tour and Good Year for the Roses and Tender Years and Things Have Gone to Pieces and She Thinks I Still Care and Still Doin' Time and a dozen other great songs are the reason George Jones is a legend.
Love watching a young person react❤you understand the meaning love you sincere reactions ❤
He was definitely a GOAT, when he passed away they televised his Memorial I cried the who time,it really got me when Vince Gill sang...Go Rest High On That Mountain..at the Grand Old Opry live George Jones Memorial, Thank you for your reaction hope you have a blessed evening 🙏
Yep. My dad’s song. He died 6 weeks before my mom but they were divorced for about 20 years and they have now been gone for 30 years. I used to not be able to listen to this song without crying but today…I can get through it. I love how you figured it out. You truly listen to the song and the meaning. ❤😢😊😇😇🙏🙏
One of those golden voices of country music and a fantastic song
Try his song "White Lighting" or "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes". George had a great number of good songs through the years.
Thankfullly he was sober at this point in time and could get through a song. You want to talk CLASSIC COUNTRY... there you go.
I've been binging on reactions to this song lately. Awesome song, and your reaction was fabulous! You caught the truth of the song so quickly. Well done! New sub.
People used to hang a black wreath upon the door of the deceased, back when society had that kind of code. Black veils for women, black armbands for men. It showed to the world that you were in mourning for a loved one.
George was given this song SIX YEARS before he recorded it...he hated it, said "No one will buy that morbid sob." After years of seemed his career had peaked and no more #1's and ppl had wrote him off, he finally recorded HSLHT, and STUNNED all of country music, with what's considered by many as the greatest country music song of all time. George then said, who knew a career could be saved by a 3 minute song. I'm always torn between HSLHT, and Hello Darlin' by Conway Twitty as the GOAT country music song...I usually default back to HSLHT though. LOVE to see ppl's reactions first time they hear this and it dawns on them he died...seems ppl never see it coming, lol.
Producer Billy Sherrill is the reason this song is so great, George was in terrible physical condition due to booze and other chemicals. Billy had the writers add the verse of her coming to the funeral and after many attempts got George to sing the song the way Billy wanted it. George told him he hated the song and it wouldn't sell a single copy, Billy knew better. He added the amazing harmonic and orchestra parts to make it the song that revived George's career.
My two favorite songs HSLHT and Hello Darlin'..
Great reaction, much love ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
He IS Country Music!
Thanks, Sceez! This song always gives me chills - it's my favorite by George... I appreciate that you figured it out... !!
I absolutely love all of your reactions! You are very open minded
Few and far between young reactors get the meaning of this song. Glad you understood and great reaction. Johnny Cash was asked who was the greatest country singer and he replied, you mean besides George Jones
This is a perfect example of Greatness!
Thank you for this video I always love George Jones when I was younger until I got older it's just like Elvis I love his music too and his movies I love all kinds of music😍
George lost his driver's license for making a Beer Run on a riding mower. Then he wrote the song Beer Run. George is a legend.
Awesome job!! Not many catch the meaning of the song.
If you want another good one from him, react to ...Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes.
Mr. George Jones is/was a true Country Legend.
Great reaction. Amazing that you got the meaning of the song right from the very first line. You would be amazed at how many people never figure it out. Good job
The absolute BEST reaction to this song I've EVER watched!!!!
Good on you little brother! You listened to every word and felt it your soul… just the way it was intended.
Dude, you were caught up in the whirlwind, which is easy to do, as George was the King of Country for a while, along with his wife the queen of country, the incredible Tammy Wynette, which I would strongly urge you to check out because she is also amazing. The Ole Possum as they called him and rest in peace buddy by the way,
But seriously, a lot of people don't get it until the end of the song and many don't get it at all. Which is a shame because it does have that punch in the gut visceral thing when it hits. And I didn't even get it for many years but then again to be fair I was hearing this as a very little kid, and I just thought it was emotional and I love this voice. And I saw that the older women in my family would get teary-eyed when they listened to it.
It wasn't until I was older that I actually figured out what it was about and then it just floored me.
But the cool thing is you got it immediately, man. I've said it before and I'll say it again - one thing I like about your reactions is that you are very very quick, and you're open to just feeling emotions and different kinds of grooves and energy from different kinds of music that you've probably never heard before. That is a real special quality.
To see a different side of him and why he became so popular, check out some of his early stuff, like White Lightning. There is some black-and-white footage of him on RUclips as a younger man doing this early hit. He's got a buzz cut with his big square head and he's a funny individual, lol.
This song is legendary, easily top 5 country song of all time, and some even consider it the best.
I do love when reactors actually get the song, that moment when they realize the true meaning, priceless.
You'd like "White lightning" one of his many good songs
I was separated from my husband and we were still in love,,he was staying with another girl but that was still okay.er loved each other.he had a problem with alcohol.. the letters I wrote while we were separated he had underlined in red every single I love you this was in 82..he was in the hospital and coming home again when he just died of serosis, jaundice and hepatitis.. B4 my time but I love this song. It has to be the saddest song. Even if you don't like country this is a Great Song.
My dad died on January 3rd and I've been watching reaction videos for the smiles. Yours straight up make me laugh. Keep doing what you do.
I'm so sorry. It's been 6 years for me. It never gets easier, but, you do learn to live with it. Bless you! 🙏🏻
I lost my mom early, 24 years ago this coming April. It never get's easier but your cherished memories make it easier to live with.
I grew up with this song.
So sorry for your loss.
The Possum’s in the building! This is the epitome of true love. He didn’t stop loving her until the day he died.

George Jones/The Race Is On
"You're my best friend" by Don Williams, one of the greatest love songs ever.
Listen to 70s on music was real. Just a man, his guitar and a mic
He's singing as if he was singing about a friend, but in reality, his producer wrote this with George and his ex-wife Tammy Wynette in mind. It took him 256 takes to finish the song recording. George never got over he and Tammy splitting up. They would see each other on the side until her death.
☮️💙💙💙🔥
YES HE PASSES😢

No “might be” to it, he was the BEST. George Jones was not playin’.
You got the George right but the greatest country singer's last name is Straight.
Please check out the video of Dolly Parton, covering this song! No offense to George, but Dolly did it better
He died

George was drunk during that performance. His nickname was No-Show Jones , because he'd get too drunk to perform his concerts.
