I live in Nashville and I had the privilege of seeing George Jones in concert at the Ryman Auditorium. At the beginning of his show he said, "I hope you didn't come expecting a lot of smoke and mirrors because I don't do that. I just sing." Some guy at the back of the auditorium yelled at him, "That's all we want you to do, George. That's what we came for." I didn't miss the smoke and mirrors. It is my humble opinion that all that extra stuff is what some entertainers use to distract the audience from the fact that they can't sing all that great. When you have a voice like George Jones had, you don't need a bunch of distractions. I will always feel very lucky that I got to see him in a live show.
This particular song "He Stopped Loving Her Today" is MOST CERTAINLY AND DEFINITELY THE GREATEST Country and Western Song of ALL TIM6!!! And, as well, George Jones 8d ABSOLUTELY AND POSITIVELY THE GREATEST COUNTRY AND WESTERN PERFORMER OF ALL T9ME!!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!!! He is in a league 9f Hos Very Own!!! THE POSSUM IS UNQUESTIONABLY THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!! G.OA.T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
I love your appreciation for George.
He was my sweet daddy's favorite.
My daddy always said to put your hand over your heart when you said George Jones 😊
Greatest Country music voice ever!!! Jones could talk a song better than any so called country music singer today!!!!
Saddest song ever. Grand Tour also sad. We would all love to be loved like that. George Jones my favorite country singer . I saw him live . I spoke to him and he said hello back.
King of country
Got to see him and Tammie Wynette. I was about 13 at the time. My brother who was 14 years older asked me to go. Weird he didnt have a date and before his first wife. Just doing little brother a kindness i guess. Im 75 now and i still remember the show.
I live in South Carolina and we still place wreaths on the door and traffic still stops when the funeral procession comes by
Birdman, quick story for u. Got 3 c the possum twice. Once was at a musical festival. He was the headliner on the Friday night. The other was a normal concert, although normal isn't a good way to describe this concert. It had 3 performers, and I hope you're sitting down for this: George Jones,Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, front row seats to boot. No wonder it was called the Living Legnds Tour!
Wow...absolutely amazing. I'm insanely jealous...lol.
I love this song
I miss this kind of country music.
Same here.
Unrequited love ... the greatest love of all time! 😕
So sad, isn't it?
great reaction.
Heartbreaking
You should react to “who’s gonna fill their shoes”.
Had to see what you thought of thus classic
Birdman's Place, you do it right. I'm glad I stumbled into your neck of the woods. Love me some George Jones! ... A Texas boy.
Thank you, my friend. I appreciate that. Yep..great music. Much love to ya.
Can you react to George Jones wine colored roses
You should react to his song who's gonna fill there shoes
Did you know that George straight did a cover of George jones and another singer with him
I have a cousin of mine. Was a rock and roll guy, didn't like George. I was going to see him in concert. My cousin said he wanted to go. After he went he came out a fan.
Agreed on your comments. George is my all time favorite singer
Do Toby Keith’s tribute to Merle. So sad but sweet. The live concert one not the music awards one.
Oh wow...gonna have to check that one out. Thank you for the heads up.
George Jones was one of my parents' favorite country singers. They've been to a few of his live concerts back in the day, even when he was with Tammy Wynette. I've still got some of the old pictures here that they took of him during a concert many yrs ago.
I would like your reaction to the song She's Just A Whole Lot Like You Lyrics - Hank Thompson
I'm only 45 but this is the music I grew up listening to. My mom loved George Jones and introduced me to him and all the older country music singers. Will always be one of my favorite songs!
You were raised on the best and meaningful songs and singers who stayed true to their country roots!!!!
I'd agree with that Birdman. Greatest love song. ❤ Keep doing it.
I think when they placed a wreath on his door means on top of the casket
It refers to a wreath placed on the front door to indicate a death had occurred. Usually dark colored it was a signal to neighbors, especially back in the days when the body was brought home before the funeral.
I took my momma to see George Jones in Tupelo Mississippi in the middle of a huge field! He had just come out with the song, I don’t need your rocking chair and my sweet southern momma got outta her chair and was groovin with ole George!! Great memory thanks man!! ❤️tennessee
Awww...that's so awesome. So glad I could bring that memory back. That's what music is all about. Much love to you and your momma.
George Jones has some great songs out there!
Would like to you react to Alan Jackson "MONDAY MORNING CHURCH"
Choices by the possum is another of my fav all time flockin songs
Great song...absolutely.
Somebody finally got it! ... Thank you... The greatest country song ever written... performed by George Jones.
Amen...absolutely.
Love George Jones. Grew up listening to him. You are right this is the greatest love song of all time.
I agree 💯 percent with u, on this song I always wanted to see him in concert, u can never go wrong with the "Possum"
Can’t go wrong with George Jones. Got to see him live maybe bout a month before he died. We were worried he was gonna cancel our concert. Cause he canceled at a casino 2 weeks previous. But thankfully he chose to stick with our concert we were going to. Because he was great :)
That man had a voice until the day he died. Amazing. Much love to ya.
@@BirdmansPlace Definitely! It was very much worth going. And I was glad he didn’t cancel :).
@@BirdmansPlace if you like this you should check out Frank Foster’s song (been gone) I think you will really enjoy it
George Jones will always be the best country singer in my eyes no matter what
This song gives me chills every time I listen to it….
I agree!!!! George Jones is one of the greatest voices in all of country history and it can’t be copied.
Absolutely. Agree with you 100%.
I’m that way with “Pancho and Lefty”. Makes me cry every single time I hear it. Don’t know what it is about a certain song that can bring so much emotion.
Astros are home. Let’s do this boys!!! 2 more! 🧡⚾️💙
Man...our Astros couldn't get it done, unfortunately. :( But I agree 100% about Pancho and Lefty. Such a beautiful song.
Much love to you birdman!! Just wanted to say hope you're staying safe and healthy! You and all bird fam!
Awww...thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I hope the same for you. Hope all is well. God Bless. Much love to ya.
She left him and never came back
Also the saddest country love song as well. There’s no counting how many funerals I’ve gone to and this song have been played
Love this song, heck I love George Jones songs period. Another song of his that I have to stop to listen to no matter what is "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes". There's just something about those 2 songs that get to me.
Can you do "When you say nothing at all" or "I'm no stranger to the rain" by Keith Whitley?
I will put them on the list, ma'am. :) Hope all is well. Much love to ya.
This song could be the life story of my uncle. My uncle was a military man and his wife divorced him because of it. He loved my aunt untill the day he died.
Aww man...that's horrible. So sorry about that. :(
Which is this song
Amen brother!!! I agree with all you said!! You might want to try Vince Gill song at the award show honoring George Jones death. That’s cried during the whole song. He saying go rest high on that mountain and you could tell they broke his heart. He and George Jones had a very tight bond. God I love this song!
