this song is about a sleazy record dude that was trying to say Ann and Nancy were lovers. they're sisters and he knew it. he just thought the sleaze would sell.

This is, what, two Heart songs you've done? The Wilson Sisters (Ann & Nancy) are maybe the most badass rocker siblings in music history. "Straight On", "Magic Man", "What About Love", and, of course, "Alone" are all huge bangers. They can also slow it down, too... check "Dog & Butterfly".

Dear sceez- Heart began as a Led Zeppelin cover band. They were called to do a tribute performance of Stairway to Heaven in front of Led Zep and the Obama’s at the Kennedy Center. Be sure to check out the long version! It’s incredible.

When this came out back in the day, it was played like every third song on the radio. They actually kind of overplayed it after a while such a great tune. In 2013 when they were inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame they played this song.
Just an added side note, a barracuda is a predatory fish. The record producer was the barracuda.

Honestly one of my favourite things about Heart live videos, particularly back then, is how Ann will sometimes get that smile between lines like “yeah I’m knocking these vocals out of the park and I know it”

They weren't taken seriously by male record execs, at all. Rampant sexism. One of those men had just suggested that the sisters were in fact lovers, because, you know, he was gross. It pissed them off, this song is the result. She's basically telling him that she thinks he's a big ugly ass fish man who needs to stfu!

Another great reaction. There is another video from the same concert of another one of their huge hits, I can't remember if it is Magic Man or go crazy on you, but I think it might be the latter. Either way I'm sure you will dig it.
It's funny how it's a small world man. I'm about 60 years old and my cousin who is a year older than me went to the same high school that Ann and Nancy Wilson went to. Although I think they were like a year or two ahead of him. But one time he told me a story that the word went around school to head to the gymnasium real fast because the Wilson sisters who were alumni and just starting to break big, and come back to just jam and just have fun at their old high school.
I'm so envious, that would have been so cool to have been there at that moment in time in that intimate setting. But yeah man that band was a force of nature. My younger sister lived and died by some of their songs for a while there.
