    The best word to describe music in the 70s is "eclectic". The 70s was definitely the most diverse decade. You could hear so many different styles of music all on the same radio station.

    Amber is so right, there is NO music today, soul less and without any originality or creation or indeed talent. We were born and lived in the best years of music which will never return, but the good news is between early 60's to late 90's there is an infinite amount to listen to.

      Sorry but I still think the 60's was the best time for music and informed others groups to follow on what could be accomplished with the equipment of the time! And this comes from a child born in the later 60's therefore my formative musical period was the late 70's 2Tone Ska, 80's Futuristic movement with groups like 'The Human League', 'Duran Duran' and 'Ultravox' really going into the 90's for Brit Pop and the likes of 'Oasis', 'Blur' and the 'Inspiral Carpets'! Yet I still love rock too from groups like 'The Manic Street Preachers', 'The Red Hot Chilli Peppers' and 'Guns'n'Roses'!

    • @Dreyno
      @Dreyno 5 месяцев назад

      I don’t know. Rock and roll spread almost instantly and was cross pollinating within a decade. It’s very hard to say something sounds “American” because those American bands were influenced by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bowie etc.

    • @bradparnell614
      @bradparnell614 5 месяцев назад

      Well the accents go a long way in helping, as does a lot of the lyrical content.

    • @Dreyno
      @Dreyno 5 месяцев назад

      @@bradparnell614 Most people don’t have an accent when singing. The process completely distorts any accent. Vowels are stretched, consonants are often substituted with different ones easier to sing. “R”s are dropped or stressed or rolled depending on what fits. You can’t tell if someone has a Californian accent or a Ohio accent when they’re singing despite them being very different and in most cases, you can’t tell if someone is from Hampshire or New Hampshire either. Neil Young and Bryan Adams don’t sound Canadian either.
      The few people who have a distinct accent when singing are notable because of it. The Procalimers, Delores O’Riordan, Johnny Rotten, David Johansen etc. Most singers accused of sounding American sound American because most Americans don’t really sound American when they’re singing.
      As for the lyrics, unless someone is singing about Cadillacs etc. most lyrics are universal too. There’s nothing in this song, for example, that is peculiarly American.

    It's amazing how groups from the 60's and early to mid 70's showed all groups that followed how to create their own sound and none more influential than 'The Beatles', however you can go way back to the 1920's and 1930's period and the likes of Leadbelly who's own music inspired Kurt Cobain to get into music! Paul McCartney grew up playing the piano to old Gracie Fields music and the likes when the family would have a sing song around the piano with his parents teaching him to play it! All music grows and deviates yet the 50's and 60's, going into the early 70's was really the best time for real pure music, not changed by wizardry in the studios! ❤️❤️‍🔥 How about 'Fox On The Run' as your next Sweet song??? Great show as always both!

    One of the most under rated bands of the 70,s so many hits and incredible riffs so well written and played. This song has the easiest vocals to sing even if you can sing or not. I miss the 70,s my school days were full of awesome songs and talent on the radio.

    This song has soooooo many memories attached to it! I was just out of boarding school in a small town called Ajmer (literally in the middle of nowhere) in India when I first heard this song on short wave radio at the beginning of 1978. I fell in love with it right away and have it on my playlist even now!
