Great video, thanks. I have 60 series engine, I loose power for seconds & black smoke.. then the truck run normal, then the same thing happens again. What you think the problem?
@@DONTCALLMETHAT yes. I got it fix, I'm trying to remember what I fix exactly.. I have bad memory, something has to do with the air, I think it was air leak on the blue hoses & the pipe between the hoses was rusted, I think that was the problem. Also; after that I discover the actuator value (in the turbo) is not working properly. I change the turbo.. the truck is fine now. You start checking the air & the fuel before you do anything, the problem is there. Make sure to check the actuator value in the turbo.
Detroit 60 series engine stall rpm low not increasing above 1500 rpm reason of,we all checked hosses, all is ok,no any errors related the engine sensors, wht the next suggest
Great video Question: I have a 1992 international Detroit 60 12.7, My truck is having this issue where it turns on but won’t accelerate and then turns off. We were thinking it was this sensor that needed replacing but now I’m lose for words. We came across your video and cleaned the turbo sensor but still nothing. Can I ask your opinion on this issue?
@@TANKERMONKEY mine have that problem, empty runs perfect but loaded with 40k pounds is a turtle 🐢 I will replace the turbo actuator this weekend and I will replace the boots sensor too, thanks bro 😎
Question: 2008 Western star Detroit 60 14L similar issue. While rolling I hear a noise almost like blow off But it isn't. Turbo boost drops, truck runs limp, black smoke, valve chatter, check engine light on..... I press the clutch, coast safely to the shoulder, sit there and in maybe 30 seconds, engine light goes off, truck guess back to normal. Any help? I was told maybe turbo actuator acting up
Definitely could be actuator check boost line hose going to actuator those variable vane turbos get clogged and can have issues that sometimes a good cleaning will fix next I would check fuel system and injectors not that familiar with 14L
@@TANKERMONKEY, thanks for the info. What about the intake tube that goes from Inter cooler to your intake manifold. I’ll like to find a solid pipe like yours. Mine has a rubber one.
there's to crankcase pressure sensors, one behind the compressor and one under manifold. There's vids on RUclips, but these sensors are known to go bad, crank but no start.
It depends on what the waste gate is set for most people shoot for 30lbs mine does 22-25 of course check boots and leak test check O ring if all is good have waste hate checked out and turbo seals
Mine has gone from 30psi to barely 20psi I can hear a leak but can’t seem to find it since I’m driving when I hear it. How did you pressurized your system to check for leak if you don’t mind me asking.

It works in my case! Thanks a lot for a video!!!

Very nice engine sir.
Imma have try this out cause mine even when its empty it feels like a dog

God bless you 😊

Did you get to the bottom of the issue?

Did you hear a weird noise coming from your engine when going up to 1450-1500 rpm when changing gears
We’re you burning fuel before? And what’s your fuel mileage after?
Was it running bad all the time or just under a load thanks for the video super informative
seemed sluggish all the time almost like had a brake hung up
My truck sluggish, i can feel its not making the boost its suppose to, my Detroit is a 14L 515hp but it feels like its only making 300hp😢😢😢😢
did the sound resemble an air silenoid? I have been having a strange popping noise coming from mine under boost changed turbo, cac, and qll boots
Not really just loud hissing
That sounds like waste gate noise
The problem turn to be with the E G R, we disconnect the cable ... the truck 🚚 works 💪 now.
Thank you so much 💓
@@TANKERMONKEY I wish it would have I replaced the turbo with a nonwastegated and same thing
Thanks

that sure sounds like fuel or a fuel related issue this would be more a loss of power under load
pull the fuel pump off and check the pump drive link between pump and air compressor, it may be broke, after many miles they break!

upper drivers side you will test from the fron of turbo pipe going to CAC

Did he do this because he was loosing boost
My detroit 60 series engine... It starts and switch off after some seconds. What can be the cause?
sounds like fuel line or filter is clogged
What is silaglide and what does it do?
it is a silicone/petroleum jelly that seals and helps protect O rings and rubber products from dry rotting
Also it's showing a code that says eng controller no response 128s254 07
What should the boost be on a series 60?
i got the same question
25psi on a bone stock engine. I have a built 12.7, cam, ceramic coated pistons, blueprinted injectors, fuel mapping etc and I'm pushing 46psi.
wher can you buy one of the turbo booster sensor at.
Amazon like $45 if new O ring doesn’t work
My detroit series60 just shut off while running Doesn't want to turn on it cranks but no start
I’d pull and check the ECM connections

25psi is normal for a bone stock engine, many late 90s 12.7s are non waste gate turbos.
