Used to drive an old Diamond Rio with an 8v71 back in the 70s, running from Melbourne to Brisbane (Australia) sweetest sounding little girl you ever heard.
Hey. I'm Canadian so this is just another day at the office, eh ? 😊 I'm guessing you are an equipment dealer/tech so you probably know the following but I'll share anyway for the benefit of others.... Cold starting diesels which have not been pre-warmed, as seen here, pounds the living crap out of the engine's starter and shortens the life of the starter. Hard on the engine, too. In the abscence of a block heater, you can put a tarp (or two ) over the engine and use an electric heater (or two) to warm the block. Takes a couple hours. You can also GENTLY warm the oil in the oil pan with a propane torch. Just keep the flame a reasonable distance from the pan. That works wonders. In extreme cold weather, as seen here, you can and should either switch from 15 W 40 engine oil to a DIESEL ENGINE 10 W 30 oil (NOT the same as car 10 W 30...different recipe, different additives). Some diesel engine manufacturers (like Volkswagen) recommend thinning your diesel by diluting it @ 5% with gasoline. Much better cold starting, especially if you are in parts of USA (like TX) where the fuel vendors don't sell a winter diesel. Note that the gentleman in the video used the ether (quick start) VERY sparingly. Wise. If you go crazy with that stuff you can damage a cold engine. Seen it happen 😢. Happy cranking. Be safe. 😊

@@zacharyreynolds4303 yeah..
Zach Reynolds yes, same engine as a Porsche 911
Is this in Springfield Illinois? There was a bus just like that around town a few years ago but I haven't seen it in a while
I've got a drawer full of 45s that I won't chuck even though I have no use for them. THIS guy's on another level!
Glad to see someone else shares the same opinion on Detroits. They're good for turning fuel into noise, but not much more. I do love the sound of a Detroit though.
MichaelTJD60 yeah, but they’ll do it for twice as long as any other engine.
8:58 seems like ej20 sound 😂😂😂
Maximum overdrive the green goblin toyz truck
😂
Oc Danny phantom in 2021 nice.
There really is nothing that compares to the sound of a Detroit. Love it or hate it. I personally think it’s mechanical music. Especially the 12v71
That Rube Goldberg takeoff device on the Miller Lite special is amazing ! You could attach a snow thrower and a hay bailer.
I love the design of these buses. I hope it's not destroyed.
he does destroy it he just burnout and it crashed on the tree
why does this bus sound better than a current f1 car?
That’s a beautiful bus! I just love the design of American vehicles especially from this era!! Thanks for posting! Subbed
Yeah I like the mci8 from greyhound myself....sikkest fuckin bus EVER!!!!!
That fork lift starter sounded like a clapped-out ‘69 Dodge :)
The good thing with having twin pipes with an 8V71 is you can tell what's wrong with it by the colour of the smoke on the right side. Still the best sounding diesel engine ever made in my opinion. You need to add some decarbonizer to the fuel to decoke the piston ring area.
I swear I could smell that bus as soon as he walked into it.
A value pack of cold starts. Awesome.
It looks like the busses in GTA Vice City 🔥😂👍
Thanks for saving this one. For 2 stroke Detroit engines And vintage buses have a look at ( bus grease monkey ) thanks for sharing always very interesting 👍🇦🇺🚜
I love old Detroits i drove a Clark 666 skidder in 1989 i like the sound they make strong engines too mine never had trouble starting
I like his channel.
This video and the next are the polar opposite of Bus Grease Monkey
Man trying to start that forklift sounded like Willy Wonka’s everlasting gob stopper machine 😂
They do sound great in the higher rev range
Oh boy see if you can win over them Detroit fans again lmfao
Democrats are scum of the earth

I haven't seen a 2 stroke that wasn't.
Patrick Baptist sea Doo made there jet skis back in 90s and early 2000s with two strokes.. they weren’t shit in the slightest
Why you gotta hit so close to home man? lol
We have a couple old Detroit 2 smokes still in service on the road and making money at work, and a lot of our old coaches actually have built in ether starts.
Buy a piece of land with a view, park the bus... and you have a home :D
6NZ C-15 sounds great :)
Sandra Bullock could drive that buss like you wouldn’t believe:)
I could drive HER like SHE wouldn't believe!
enigmedic That’s a really tasteless comment there mate
@@kshatriya1414 I know. If it helps your healing process, I'm willing to bend you over first.
@@kshatriya1414 Lighten up, and look for humor in life
enigmedic judging by your comments you’re just some low life trash that could probably not even get it up with 40 blue pills so you need to show people that you’re a the big man on internet stuck with your 50’s boomer mentality.
i like how the bus sounds like a sports car when you rev it XD
Used to drive an old Diamond Rio with an 8v71 back in the 70s, running from Melbourne to Brisbane (Australia) sweetest sounding little girl you ever heard.
First time seeing a TWO STROKE DIESEL BUS!
1920/30 technology, check “Junkers engines”
Up here in North England laughing at this ...god bless ya Yankees I 'll buy the bus it d piss my neighbours off no end
“Genuine piece of shit” had me laughing
Its the way he says genuine for me :D
The Peterbilt sounded awesome. Love the sound of that beast CAT.
Hey. I'm Canadian so this is just another day at the office, eh ? 😊
I'm guessing you are an equipment dealer/tech so you probably know the following but I'll share anyway for the benefit of others....
Be safe. 😊
Too many people been 'fixing' that Detroit over the years!
Nothing like the sound of a screaming jimmy! 👍thanks for sharing , looking forward to more CAT rebuild, repair , etc . In the future or blowing up crap lol!
I was lookin at that bus on craigslist a week ago went back to see if it was still there and it was gone. Go on youtube today and bam there it is. May have been more of a project than I wanted, but the price was good.
How much was it?
@@jam9297 Listing I saw on BusForSale said $5,000!
Great feeling starting euipment when it's that cold, you know the heat is on the way.
Such an awesome macho legendary sounding engine. My old town had a Maxim hook and ladder fire truck with this engine and I was obsessed with it as a kid
Hey Willie Nelson called he wants his tour bus back!! LOL
Deck the inside and out and ya got ya self a nice home away from home buddy
"Enough ether to start the titanic" really got me
