I was looking into all electric car but I'm still trying to figure out how a Tesla Model 3 with all the options costs over $60,000 but is the size of an Acura ILX.
OutOfThisWorldTV I will say that the Mercedes competitor to the ES (the E-class) has extremely good reliability ratings. But still, the Lexus is cheaper than the E-class and will cost less when it comes to maintenance
@@nevansanford1635 Those are short-term ratings. If you keep the Mercedes for 10 years, you will have no choice but to throw it away or sell it to a junk yard. With Lexus, it would not be surprising to reach 1 or 2 million kilometers on the original engine and transmission.
LOL serve your car right and you not going to have any issues + you gonna spend more money on Lexus, cuz you have to change your oil every 5.000 miles (Mercedes and BMW every 15.000 miles), filters every year (for Mercedes and BMW - 50/65,000 miles) and bunch of other shit much much often vs to Germany cars. In general lexus now a day cost at least 40k average in my opinion and I got my A4 for 38k. I wanted to buy a ES for 42 k but I am budget sensitive so I chose German for 38k. Even after 50000 miles the warranty limit I may just spend a few thousand at worst to repair but in the case for lexus I might have in the beginning paid a few thousand more in advance for the price tag. Just my opinion...I drove lexus sometime I found it is not comparable to German in terms of comfort and performance. People make their choice.
The Ironic thing is that German cars will offer the same level of luxury for far more money but not be as reliable yet people will turn their noses up at the American produced cars that are more reliable than the Germans and offer more luxury and be cheaper as well. American cars are not as reliable as the Japanese but are cheaper but are better than the Germans. But yet every car critic out there will claim the Germans are more superior and are class leading. The old and dated GS no longer makes sense and it sells very poorly so my dealer also said he figures it will be discontinued soon.
I think the hybrid version might just be the ultimate LA commuter. Comfy for ALL those freeway traffic jams. Efficient for ALL those freeway traffic jams. Decent tech with adaptive cruise for ALL those freeway traffic jams. Just fast enough to join, merge and stop traffic pushing in on ALL those freeway traffic jams.

@@TheTallMan50 maybe I should have been more clear. The original commenter said he preferred the G80 which is a Genesis. Genesis is made by Hyundai. The part I left out is how crazy it is to choose Hyundai over Toyota. I figured that just mentioning Hyundai would be pretty obvious. I figured the original commenter couldn't have possibly known that Genesis was made by Hyundai if he would choose one over a Lexus. I guess I was wrong. Hyundai = HELL NO. The only car makers I'd put below Hyundai are Kia (another South Korean company) and Chrysler.
Hey Micah, can you imagine if someone told you back in the late 50’s, in the 60s & 70’s that they could make a car with over 300hp and obtain 22 MPG CITY and over 33 MPG HWY? Or better yet a 210hp Car getting mid 40’s in the city. What’s that you say? You weren’t around in that era? For shame you missed all the fun exhaust fumes.
I don't understand why they don't make the back seats drop down to allow for larger (longer) gear. What is that little port hole supposed to do? How am I supposed to transport a snowboard?
For 30 years, Lexus has replaced the Camry/Avalon's drop-down rear seats with an extra structural brace behind the seat back that only leaves room for a ski pass-through. Evidently they believe that luxury customers value the extra rigidity and quietness/tightness more than the cargo-carrying versatility valued in a family sedan. Whether right or wrong, at least they've been consistent.

Love it except Lexus has fallen way behind in the engine game in order to save money. The tired 3.5L V6 is unchanged from 2005. Even the hp/torque specs are the same. The reason why the transmission is hunting so much for a lower gear is in order to save fuel since this V6 is not very efficient. The hybrid variant make the most sense here. The old and dated GS no longer makes sense and it sells very poorly so my dealer also said he figures it will be discontinued soon.
Larry Ingersol this is the new 3.5L V6 that Toyota introduced on the V6 2018 Camry. Even though it’s the same 3.5 displacement, it’s a new engine.
It’s not a cost saving thing. It’s CAFE regulations.
The touchpad is much better because using the screen while driving is hazardous,Lexus cares for its customer that’s why they put a touchpad.I can be used when standing still.
I want an AWD ES
Thats not going to happen
Coming in 2020!
When the take out GS from their lineup and there will be an ES AWD model.
@@edmundbenz and hopefully another V6/Hybrid version like the fmous GS450h !!!
Do you guys film in Irvine?
What about legroom for y’all drivers, I’m 6’3” tall? Does it come in all-wheel-drive ?
Honestly I prefer the g80 over the es because it’s RWD and has gorgeous styling for me!
Genesis is made by Hyundai.
@@jimv1983 Lexus is made by Toyota.
@@XGN05 yeah, I know Lexus is made by Toyota. What's your point?
@@jimv1983 And what's YOUR point?
Was that a Michael McDonald impression there at the end?
Sadly that was my Cher impression.
@@MicahMuzio bet ya wish you could... turn back time on that one huh
Agreed.
Always liked the es, theres a reason its been around over 20yrs
Wow Lexus ES is a stunner... Great job Micah great review.
Much appreciated!!
Do the mirrors fold/unfold when locking/unlocking the es?
Luxury, Reliability, longevity, retaining value, relatively low cost of maintenance. Lexus wins👍
The ES looks fantastic!! Probably the best-looking sedan in the segment (including 5 & E)
Some good improvements keep it up
Does it have AWD hump by the acceleration paddle? I hate that hump.
