Very timely to see this comment.I just traded in my 2014 LS 460L and had delivery this week of my new 2024 ES 300h ultra lux sedan. You are correct that it’s 80% of the LS460 L at 50 % of the price. However I had some concerns about the comfort of the new ES as I loved my LS460 and at 83 I love comfort ahem. The ES is a beautiful driving car and the gas tank never seems to decrease and the new electronics and 360 degree view etc is out of this world. In hindsight I made a good decision especially the 10 year old LS was still in great shape so I hated to part with it.Most likely this will be my last car.Tires and brakes only for all those years with the LS.
I have a ES300h on order to replace my’18 LS500. I tell people the ES is 80% of the LS at 50% of the price. The ES is a fantastic car, I had one as a loaner for a couple days.
Very true. Considering how good the Ultra Luxury is for $54k new (to say nothing of what you could get used), it would be hard to find more luxury for the money. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I purchased the 2014, in November 2013. The lexus ES350, has been the best car I have ever owned- at almost 9 years old, it's difficult to justify upgrading it- I do plan on getting the '22, ES 350, but it is extremely hard to beat Lexus products. The ES holds up extremely well- not only mechanically, but the materials look like they day I drove it home for the first time-- with the exception of minimal wear on the driver seat. This is a car you buy, take care of, and hold onto.
2024 e350 will be a last year with v6 :( so hold on yours, sell it in 2025-2026, buy a used 2024, take care of it and it will last 20+ years easily. Or you can trade in yours and get new one, but obviously trade in is probably the worst financialy, then buying new is 2nd worse. The best is 1-2 year old.
@@kinyuapeter278 i ended up getting the '22 Lexus ES. Both my '14 and '22 ES had the Mark Levinson sound system- which I absolutely think is a must... by far the best sound system of any care I have ever owned and have driven. And the '22 far exceeded my expectations. I've had my '22 ES for just about two year- and I still absolutely love it.
I bought my 2021 certified used ES300h four months ago. It is my first Lexus, and I absolutely LOVE it. After watching your review, I agree completely with your review. And that is especially true about the ride... the ES is the smoothest riding and quietest car that I have ever driven. But as far as your couple of criticisms toward the end of the review, I have to say that I don't miss some of the more "wow" techy, eye popping wisbangs that some car manufacturers are incorporating, and they are not necessarily adding anything of value and in some cases can be problematic or simply overwhelming to the owner. I enjoy the more straight forward, already proven if not a little dull tech that Lexus has not changed too much. That's just me.
Grew up with family owning Mercedes. Great cars to drive BUT. Reliabilty and upkeep is ridiculous. I bought a 2002 ES300 in 2009(so it was 7 years old) Frigging amazing car and even up to the day I bought a new one (only because I could afford it and subtly reasoned with myself it was the last car I would buy...63 years old) I would regularly turn off the radio on bitumen roads and relish the absolute quietness of it. I still miss it sort of !!! 19 years old and still absolute CLASS. My new ES300h 2021 is also gob smackingly amazing. I, if ever buy another car in my life, I would never buy anything BUT a LEXUS.
Drove my new 2022 300h from NJ to TN and got 49MPG. Around town over 50MPG if you don’t jump on it when in the stop position. If you drive it easy it takes forever to empty the tank.
Thanks for the review. I’ve been considering purchasing an ES 300h to replace my Lexus GX. I like the additional space the GX provides but really only load it up a few times a year. With the price of fuel going up and up, I think I could save a lot of money with the ES and renting a truck or van when I need to haul larger items.
This is the most genuine review for the ES. And this makes me certain to buy it for my next ride. Thank you so much for your video. Super appreciate it.
We bought a new 2015 Lexus 350es and 8 years and 100,000 kilometres later not one issue. We have completed every required service at the dealer but no repairs or recalls. Still feels new with no wear in the interior and never so much as a squeak or rattle. I will replace it with a 2025 hybrid and hopefully it will be as good! Spot on with the review not a sports car but if I had to drive a car across Canada in 4 or 5 days this would be the car.
By far my favorite loaner from the Lexus dealer. Every time they loan one of these I keep debating whether I should be it on the spot! Fully agree with you. Compares fairly well (ride wise) to my 2012 LS.
Absolutely. Ride is excellent on this version. For half the price of the LS I tested recently, I'd say it's a very decent bargain. Too bad so many people think they need a sports sedan... 😂
@@jax1079 The one thing "protecting" me from buying the loaner is that I want the ultra-luxury, which here in Canada includes ALL the options available... and of course the loaners are typically the base models, so. But I do enjoy every minute spent driving that (well even though it's kind of a boring car, but still).
I’ve watched most YT reviews of the ES300H. There are only a handful, which properly inform a serious buyer about this car and this is one of those. Personally, my only significant question is power to weight ratio, factoring in an electric boost. Does it pass the quick overtake test and pull away sharply from junctions when needed? I’m not interested in speed, more in the car’s ability to shift just briefly, when required? It fulfills every other need, efficiancy, build quality, visual and most of all, reliability. Good video! Thanks.
Here’s my thoughts: it’s not slow, but the way its hybrid system works is not like the RAV4 Prime where the motor provides additional torque. The ES is capable of passing… but it won’t throw itself forward with the same urgency as something like the Prime. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I have found that my ES300h has way more than enough quick acceleration to pass even at highway speed. I never expected this hybrid vehicle to have the amount of thrust and acceleration it has, and that is true for the rapid amount of get up and go from a stop, to what is available at speed. One thing to note however, is that for me, I almost always put the car in sport mode at the begining of every drive. If you tend to leave it in standard or eco mode, then you will not see the quick acceleration that you get in sport mode.
@@jax1079 Thanks Jax. It sounds like it will be "enough". I'm having one for the comfort and reliability. My commute is one of those nice journeys you refer to. Delivery in 3 weeks time ☺
I'm buying a 2022 ES 300 Luxury in 2 weeks replacing my 2018 Audi S3... I'm so excited for the 44mpg haha. But I'll def miss how fun my S3 was to drive.
Understandable, but I imagine you'll be very comfortable with both the ride/interior appointments as well as the long term ownership experience. Thanks for watching!
The ES300H is super upscale refinement, especially in the Ultra Luxury. The only thing that keeps me from going after it is an up-to-date hybrid powertrain like the new Toyota crown hybrid that gets 246hp, and from a practical point of view, that the back seats would open down. I currently have a 2019 GS350fsport which I really enjoy but I want a practical gas-saving 2nd car. I think I will go after the NX hybrid for practical reasons, but I know that you are getting a lot more refinement in the ES300H.
The NX plug in hybrid is a GREAT combination, and you'd get Lexus's updated infotainment system on top of it, which is nice. The ES will have more passenger space, but the NX plug-in's combination of features and fuel efficiency is tough to beat in that segment. Thanks for watching!
The Hybrid seems like a great car but I can’t buy it due to it being a V4 and only having 215HP. It’s still a great hybrid but I’d personally go with the ES 350 F sport. I’m gonna place a factory order soon, my only 2 issues are that it doesn’t have ambient lighting and the major issue of it being FWD. I’m not sure how the handling will be and if it will be noticeable or not
I have this car new and it's amazingly smooth. I disagree with your criticism towards the end and it kinda conflicts with your early statement, "this car knows what it is." And what it is, is unpretentious and lacking the cringe-factor 'latest fads' and personally I like it this way.
This is true, but tech is evolving rapidly and baseline expectations have shifted. The new Lexus infotainment system proliferating across the lineup is going a long way to fixing that situation.
I'm considering to purchase an ES in the near future. I happened to watch this video and was truly surprised how quick 13min was! I thought I have skipped the video but I didn't. Well done, sir. BTW, how would you compare 300h with 350 gas version? If I'm going to put at most 8,000 miles per year, does hybrid still make sense?
I think so. It’s so well suited to the vibe of the car, and you’d consume such a tiny amount of fuel over longer periods of time… Even if it doesn’t actually pay off, it would spread the fuel costs over much longer timelines
I think people knock on the UI too harshly. It’s not the greatest, but it’s efficient in my opinion. I prefer the trackpad while driving, it’s amazingly comfortable and response time is fast. I prefer the UI in my gen 3 Raptor for sure, but the lexus UI is just fine. I don’t do much than music and nav anyways. After having multiple sports SUV’s/sedans I find the ES to be the car that I don’t get rid of after a few years. It’s comfortable, elegant, and reliable. It looks great and drives wonderful. If you want a performance luxury sedan, obviously this isn’t it 😆 but if you want an amazingly comfortable driving experience with that Toyota quality, dependability, and reliability with a touch of elegance,…then the ES is your sedan. People need to stop comparing it to luxury sport sedans,…that’s not the demographic for this car.
My 16 ES350 is still treating me very, very, VERY well. But considering an upgrade to the 300H for the gas mileage as well as the android auto. I'm at the crossroads right now with my car. After 3+ years of ownership (bought it used), I'm at a spot where I either invest $2k+ into this car (new tires are needed, modding the car to enable android auto, fixing some light damage), or upgrade now to a better deal. In either scenario, I'd be looking to drive either my current ES350 or potentially an ES300h down to the ground at that point. Just need to make a decision within the next few months, and hopefully when a good deal comes by. :)
Tough choice in the current market. If you can get decent value for it and don’t mind the payments extension, I’d just trade it in for the hybrid 😉👍🏻 Thanks for watching!
@@jax1079 Thanks for the reply. :) I'm fortunate enough to own my 2016 already, so it'd be a case of making (hopefully minimal) new payments if that's the case. Honestly there's quite a lot of hidden benefits for upgrading, going well beyond the gas mileage and into the hybrid credits. But, I think after watching this video, I'll play a "if it comes, it comes" strategy of just hitting up dealers every so often if something comes on stock. And if it happens within the year, great. If not, I have a fantastic car already in my hands anyway. :)
Great review, and I agree with everything you say here. If you go into buying this knowing what it is, it's exactly that. Though I would have stressed more, its amazing reliability history. Big reason I bought one as well.
Thanks so much! I agree, but I feel like if people don't understand Lexus is on another level in terms of reliability at this point... Well then they already have their own motivations for purchasing something else 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Did you have a chance to drive the 2022 NX? Unable to decide between this and NX. I care about ride comfort and tech. NX has the latest tech, but the 2021 NX had horrible ride comfort, not sure about the 2022 redesign. Any thought, sir?
I have driven both the NX and the ES on test drives in the last few days. I currently drive a RX450h and expected to buy the new NX… but to my surprise I didn’t enjoy it. I ended up ordering a new ES…. So relaxing and comfortable drive..
I don't know if I would pass it up for a more sporty sedan. I mean I would like more horsepower but a sporty car isn't everything. I have a Toyota Avalon right now and it's very very comfy but also has way more pick up than I'll ever need. It's not winning any races but it's not slow at all. I think that's where I want to be, comfortable but also able to have just a little fun. I would probably get the F sport or just the regular ES and not the hybrid version if it were me. Maybe I just like Lexus too much but I definitely would not take any German car over the ES. The only issue I have with it is that the style looks amazing but it's getting old for me and it's too similar to the LS. I'm more in love with how the new IS looks.
The new IS is certainly good looking! In one of my previous videos I raised the question of whether or not the ES was worth the upgrade over the Avalon. Having driven multiple copies of both, I'd say it is. It's just a bit more refined and comfortable in every measure. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I actually just drove the Avalon Trd hybrid today and I gotta say it’s mighty mighty comfy and sturdy feeling. I can’t imagine what more a Lexus can make me feel
@@sparemethedramatics1629 I prefer the regular, loaded Avalon to the TRD model, myself. But you're right: fully loaded the Avalon comes mighty close. The fact that it's pretty good looking certainly helps. I'd say the interior materials in this Ultra Luxury trim are noticeably nicer than the Avalon; plus the Avalon only comes with Toyota's lame regular infotainment system as opposed to the very similar (but much better looking) Lexus version.
I'm in the market to change my Audi A5 Sportback in the next few months and the Lexus ES is a definite contender. Honestly, I'm not put off by your dislikes, but I am now of a certain age 🙄
Got mine last month, 2023 ES300h. It's the Ultra Luxury trim, which is what we wanted and is the highest trim for the ES hybrid. It is the Cloudburst Gray exterior with Acorn color semi-aniline leather interior. Total Installed Packages & Accessories: 1) Premium Triple-beam LED headlamps; 2) Smartacess Card Key; 3) Premium Paint; 4) Lexus Interface with 12.3-in Multimedia Touchscreen Display; 5) Ultra Luxury Package; 6) All weather floor liners and trunk mat; 7) Door edge film by 3M; 8) The Preferred Accessory Package; and 9) The Dealer added a 5-year windshield protection/replacement coverage package and tinted the driver and passenger windows. More: The three-projector headlamp design creates an eye-catching L shape. Adding to this brilliant design, the headlamps feature LED side turn signals, as well as an Adaptive Front Lighting System6 that uses steering and speed sensors to direct the angle of low-beam illumination as the vehicle enters a curve. The Adaptive Front Lighting System monitors steering and speed with a suite of sensors and will automatically adjust the angle of your low-beam headlights to improve visibility on curved roads. Ultra Luxury extras: 1) 18-inch split-five-spoke alloy noise-reduction wheels 2) Power rear sunshade with manual rear-door sunshades 3) Power open/close trunk with kick sensor 4) 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen display 10.2-inch Head-Up Display 5) Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and Rear Pedestrian Detection, and Panoramic View Monitor. Averaging 43+ MPG City/Hwy driving and I had the oil and filter changed at 1,000 miles for my own peace of mind. Just For Reference: I was not going to wait one-year or 10,000 miles to have the factory installed oil & filter changed. And, I shall be changing the Oil (Liqui Moly 0W-16 Spec V) and Toyota filter every 5,000 miles from now on. Like Scotty Kilmer says, oil & filters are cheap, engines are expensive. LOL
I don't think you'll be disappointed. The performance difference is negligible, but the gas mileage gains and usability are far better. It's precisely the kind of powertrain the ES should have. Thanks for watching!
Watched the game too and stayed up way too late. This is the episode where the sunglasses would've been a good idea, the history of the night's events are pretty evident. 😀 Nice review, keep them coming!
Great review..thanks! Is this exterior color caviar, or obsidian? And, trying to decide between the 2023 es300h Ultra Luxury, or the new Crown Limited w advanced technology package..have you driven that car, and which would you choose?
Thank you! (I believe it was caviar.) I haven’t driven the Crown yet, but I would imagine that deals could be had on the ES in the near future that might not materialize on the Crown depending on sales. The ES is great at what it does. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Korean made Genesis VS. Japanese made Lexus? Yeah goodluck with the reliability of the Korean made cars...I'll take the Japanese made anytime of the day!
Not sure the logic tracks recently. While Lexus (and Toyota) still top JD Power and customer satisfaction surveys, Honda and Acura have slipped quite a bit. You know who else tops the latest JD Power rankings? The Koreans, across the board. Coupled with more generous warranties, the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis brands are definitely competitive. I’m in the Ioniq5 this week, and there is quite literally NOTHING from Japan that competes with this right now.
@@jax1079 But of course...just like what Scotty Kilmer said, you would not want to believe companies such as JD power coz they are somewhat "taken care of" by these cheap, fully loaded but extremely unreliable cars made by these car companies like the ones in Korea and China....Yeah they do offer extended warranties but do you really wanna go through all that crap planned obsolescence by the time your car hits 30-50k miles only?
Just had the NX last week, so the review will be coming soon. I think it will depend on your priorities: the NX has the more modern infotainment and more flexible cargo space, obviously, but the back seat is FAR smaller than the ES. The ES rides more cushy while the NX is more controlled, a little more Germanic and closer to something like the excellent Genesis GV70. The NX can also be had as a plug in hybrid, which is AWESOME. (I can't overstate how useful that is in something like the RAV4 Prime.) Hopefully that info helps a bit. Thanks for watching, and keep an eye out for the NX review on the way in the coming weeks.
Wavy lines stitched into supple semi-aniline leather. And three extra noise and vibration reduction measures. And other features you'd know existed if you'd spent 30 seconds reading the feature list, instead of tossing off this comment to look like the smartest man on the Internet.

I would tend to agree. For what it is, the ES is excellent. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
The full review is made from the driver's seat while driving, need I say more?
Not at all
My 16 ES350 is still treating me very, very, VERY well.
@@jax1079 Agreed.
What was the interior color? Acorn?
I don’t recall, but if I can find the build sheet I’ll let you know 👍🏻
Did you have a chance to drive the 2022 NX? Unable to decide between this and NX. I care about ride comfort and tech. NX has the latest tech, but the 2021 NX had horrible ride comfort, not sure about the 2022 redesign. Any thought, sir?
Not yet, but hoping to soon. I wasn’t a fan of the old NX, but I’m looking forward to testing the new one. Stay tuned! 👍🏻
I have driven both the NX and the ES on test drives in the last few days. I currently drive a RX450h and expected to buy the new NX… but to my surprise I didn’t enjoy it. I ended up ordering a new ES…. So relaxing and comfortable drive..
@@Richcovephoto Great choice! I just posted about the RX 450h… Didn’t love it. I think you made the right choice 😉👍🏻
@@jax1079 yea just watched, I agreed with what you said.. I’m in the UK, the roads are a bit different here to the US.👍🏻
How long would this last given proper maintenance given?
A Lexus ES? Probably forever.
@@jax1079 I have 520d 2017 I’m considering to change to Lexus Es but not sure ! What you thing ?

@@jax1079 is it me or do the older ES versions look better than the current ones? to much going on in the front.
I'm in the market to change my Audi A5 Sportback in the next few months and the Lexus ES is a definite contender. Honestly, I'm not put off by your dislikes, but I am now of a certain age 🙄
The ES hybrid really is a great car... I find myself leaning more towards it than I once did 😏
Got mine last month, 2023 ES300h. It's the Ultra Luxury trim, which is what we wanted and is the highest trim for the ES hybrid.
It is the Cloudburst Gray exterior with Acorn color semi-aniline leather interior. Total Installed Packages & Accessories:
1) Premium Triple-beam LED headlamps;
2) Smartacess Card Key;
3) Premium Paint;
4) Lexus Interface with 12.3-in Multimedia Touchscreen Display;
5) Ultra Luxury Package;
6) All weather floor liners and trunk mat;
7) Door edge film by 3M;
8) The Preferred Accessory Package; and
9) The Dealer added a 5-year windshield protection/replacement coverage package and tinted the driver and passenger windows.
More:
The three-projector headlamp design creates an eye-catching L shape.
Ultra Luxury extras:
1) 18-inch split-five-spoke alloy noise-reduction wheels
2) Power rear sunshade with manual rear-door sunshades
3) Power open/close trunk with kick sensor
4) 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen display 10.2-inch Head-Up Display
5) Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and Rear Pedestrian Detection, and Panoramic View Monitor.
LOL
Nice! Great pick up! The ES hybrid is an absolutely fantastic daily driver. Glad you like it and thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Really nice video 😀
Really nice comment 😉👍🏻 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Very intelligent review.
Why thank you 🙏🏻
Good review.
Thanks! And thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Don't forget Lexus reliability
This is true
My car is the V6 engine is excellent but I am considering the 300h
I don't think you'll be disappointed. The performance difference is negligible, but the gas mileage gains and usability are far better. It's precisely the kind of powertrain the ES should have. Thanks for watching!
Thanks
Watched the game too and stayed up way too late. This is the episode where the sunglasses would've been a good idea, the history of the night's events are pretty evident. 😀 Nice review, keep them coming!
Bahaha! It was a bit obvious, but I had three vehicles to review this past week, sooo... Adapt and overcome! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@jax1079 ::heehee:: Right on, right on! 👍🏽👏🏽
Get the hybrid max in there
Don't tease me
I think ES sedan a nice sedan hope they redesigned ls 400 sedan which is better the rs sedan. Better model 2024.
Thank you!
I have it the best car I ever had
Nice, glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!
You speak very well your videos are excellent 👌
You can’t compare the genesis to the Lexus ES 350 you would have to compare it to the LS 460 come on
Why? Looking at it from a price or options standpoint
that aint how car industry works, thats why@@jax1079
If they made it touch screen rather that horrrible touchpad infotainment system and foldable back seats. Becaus eof that it was a deal breaker for me
Understandable
I am debating either to get an ES or NX. I have watched reviews on both and both were praised for their own respective qualities.
Es I bought es
Absolutely great car.
For its intended function, absolutely. Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
Bro, we only want to hear about the car. The shorter and to the point the better.

I like the car but the trim level is beyond stupid. 50k for some wavey lines 🤣🤣🤣
Wavy lines? You mean the interior trim?
Wavy lines stitched into supple semi-aniline leather. And three extra noise and vibration reduction measures. And other features you'd know existed if you'd spent 30 seconds reading the feature list, instead of tossing off this comment to look like the smartest man on the Internet.
The 300H is so horribly, painfully slow. And that CVT is good but not taking my chances. CVT's are not as reliable.
I mean... Toyota has been doing them for a while now...
@@jax1079I know. And they’re better than most other CVTs.
Toyota's eCVT is quite reliable. It is not belt driven.
@@peterkauss5852 It’s not a true CVT which is why it’s more reliable. It’s simply awful to drive.
