    I think Lexus is doing a FANTASTIC job with their interiors. They’re so unique compared to the compared to the competitors. Lexus is still actually integrating the nav screen into the design of the dash instead of carelessly sticking it there (Cough cough, BMW/Audi/Mercedes).
    The gauge cluster and placements of the drive dynamics select are also really cool.

    • @henrynguyen9631
      @henrynguyen9631 6 лет назад +4

      Scott Watkins Careless wouldn’t be the term I’d use. I think the Europeans prefer that tablet-like positioning over the seamless design. Audi does a better job w hiding it into the dash though so it’s not as bad I guess. I have to agree I do like the way a screen looks when it’s nicely integrated in dash!

      I gotta say the newer Lexus interiors are cheap and lack understated elegance. Most ES interior color combos I've seen are either dark and cold ( grey/black combos) or make you feel like your inside a Reese cup ( brown/saddle brown). The lack of wood trim completes the horribleness. I have a 2008 ES with almost 300K. When it's time to get another car, I'm looking at used Lexus' because those interiors haven't been cheapened out.

    • @WillMoon
      @WillMoon 6 лет назад +30

      MP3's generally have some compression and digital noise when you listen to them on an iPod, it creates little artifacts and distortion that you can hear especially at high volume. On CD's there is no compression or loss when they're pressed, so you don't have those little distortions at high volumes. This is why all true luxury cars should still have a CD player, especially if they have a nice sound system.

    • @ビップレクサス
      @ビップレクサス 6 лет назад +24

      themessiah809 Lexus will lose tons of business and be called stupid if they cancel the IS. The Lexus IS is the true competitor to the 3 Series and C-Class with its RWD and handling. Secondly - canceling the IS will cause a huge price issue. There won't be an affordable RWD Sedan in the Lexus line up anymore. Meaning someone is going to have the buy the GS/LS for a Lexus RWD. These consumers will go else-where. Lastly - canceling the IS also makes the IS makes the ES the "Entry-Level Luxury Sedan" for Lexus. How the fuck is a 50 grand car that is based off a Camry/Avalon Entry-Level? Lol.
      They aren't canceling the IS - its suicide.

    • @edwink1467
      @edwink1467 6 лет назад +8

      It makes no sense for Lexus to cancel the IS. It may not be their best seller, but they sell a good amount every year. More importantly, the IS serves as an entry level Lexus sedan, just like the BMW 3 series, Mercedes C-Class, and Audi A4. The GS though... it’s in a weird spot with the ES as they are similar in terms of size. I can see Lexus cancelling one of them (probably the GS) and replace it with ES as their mid size sedan line up. But then the ES will probably get more luxurious/sporty and expensive... to rival the mid size luxury sedan competitions.

    • @desbiens1127
      @desbiens1127 6 лет назад +43

      You shouldn't compare the ES to the GS or the LS. The GS was designed as a midsized RWD platform. Basically, the IS is the 3 series, GS is the 5 series and LS is the 7 series in terms of model lineup/respective competition. If you are in the market for an ES you are usually looking at TLX's and other front wheel drive models as competitors (very few or almost none in the euro luxury market). To directly compare a FWD platform directly to an RWD sports sedan is a stretch so I don't think the ES is pushing the GS into extinction - maybe the same tired 3.5L 2GR-FSE/FKS they have been using since mid to early 2000's and the lacklustre power options compared to direct competition is to blame.

    What Lexus, and the whole Toyota group needs, is a small inline 6, that will be big enough to be exciting, and small enough to be reasonable, and that can be paired with their hybrid system for maximal fuel efficency.

    Lexus can’t just have two large sedans in their lineup so I suspect they’ll keep the IS. I hope they don’t get rid of the GS and instead change it to a 4-door coupe to go against Audi A7 and Mercedes CLS.

      @japanwatchconnection What's the point of being fast when everyone knows it's going to break constantly after 60k miles. That's why the GS is a better car than a 535i. Because grown ups don't like to deal with headaches and the GS doesn't break. I own my ES350. I lease my Audi S4 and I would never own a German car except a Porsche.

    The GS is dead people. Nobody really bought it. Sedans in general are suffering so you can't be mad they're killing it off. The IS is still there if you want sporty/RWD, something the IS has always done better than the GS anyway. No point having redundant vehicles in a declining segment. Just make an AWD ES and we're all good.

    • @sc666666
      @sc666666 Год назад

      Is there a reason for not having the seats fold down? Sometimes the headrests that are not removable Don’t make it practical. This has the center pass through like my Acura. It would be nice to have the rear headrest removable for visibility and have the seats fold down though.

    • @tonysterbenc
      @tonysterbenc Год назад

      @@sc666666 Yes. For 30 years, the ES has always had an added trapezoidal brace behind the rear seatback, and only a ski pass-through as a result. Evidently Lexus feels that luxury sedan / sport sedan buyers value the ride, handling and NVH benefits of a stiffer chassis more than cargo versatility. Of course, the Germans deliver both, but they have dedicated luxury-car chassis - Lexus's ability to build their car on humble family-sedan bones is why they can deliver a price advantage.

    I've heard you state before, as you do in this video, that the ES is the entry level sedan for Lexus. And you also mention the IS in this video. To my knowledge of what "entry level" means, of what "sedan" means, my knowledge of the Lexus lineup and their respective price points, as well as Lexus' own determination on this matter, the IS is definitively Lexus' entry level sedan. Why do you say the ES is? And, then, what is the IS if not their entry-level sedan?
