Video Description:
If you've ever thought about rooting your Nexus 5X, here's the easiest way. Utilizing a toolkit from developer WugFresh (that coupled with the fact that Google has a pretty lax attitude about you rooting their phones), it's pretty painless.
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to root the Nexus 5X by unlocking the bootloader, then flashing a custom recovery and gaining root access by flashing SuperSU from that recovery all while using his toolkit.
If you aren't familiar with rooting, it's the process of gaining full administrative rights on an Android device (think Jailbreaking for iOS but for Android). After doing so we can remove bloatware, change the OS to different versions using custom ROMs we can flash, and more.
If any of that sounds appealing to you, here's how to get started:

I found this video to be clear and concise, well organized, easy-to-understand and very valuable. in an area where we have many variations in tools and how we can root all devices it can be confusing for the newbi. RUclips instructional videos could use this as a model for clarity Simplicity and straightforward helpful instruction. Thank you
Once I get to TWRP to Install > !ReadyToFlash, I don't see it any files, in fact I don't see the !ReadyToFlash folder. Also, at the top it says that I have 0MB in my internal storage. Did I do something wrong?

I really love your tutorials, simple and awesome 😀 thanks bro
It keeps saying "unable to successfully push supersu files". Any help?
I found this very useful thank you, I love your iPhone videos as well though, so you think you could do a few more of those ? I'm sure it help more than just me
+TheUnlockr First of all: I saw your tutorial to rooting the Nexus 5X. Fine, but I'm feared for something to happen so that my phone will become useless, though I will try
But (The second thing) that when I want to root using WugFresh's software but don't want custom recovery (because I like the stock Android but like to tweak it using Xposed and get the new Assistant feature in the Pixel on Nexus, my Nexus (Assistant feature needs root anyway, by the app Get Assistant on the Play Store)). So, if I just uncheck the Custom Recovery box in the software when rooting, the steps will change, so what they will be?
Also, my software is Android 7.1.1. So is it compatible? And will I receive OTA updates after rooting?
Hi bro, i am afraid that i can broke my phone, this is totally secure? i have 14 years and I want to root my phone, but I repeat you, I am afraid to broke my phone (I speak Spanish, sorry if I don't write well)

Do i need to decrypt my device to unlock the bootloader?

Which build did you select? Mine is not listed...
devildogcad Mine was not listed either so I went with the last option which rear something along the lines of "general" or "all" builds. Worked just fine.
thanks, that's what I was gonna go with. much appreciated!
It says I need to download a twerp recovery
Hey there! So i did everything you said, and when you got to the "Install Zip" part, i dont have "!ReadyToFlash" there?????

can we root the nexus 5x without wiping our phone out
If I do this just after buying the mobile without any personal data or apps that I downloaded or contacts... will the apps that were pre-installed be available or will that be lost too?
+Anand Kumar anything that comes on the phone when you first take it out of the box is not affected.
i dont have "!ReadyToFlash" there?????
do I need to install custom recovery if I just want to install apps that needs root access? And will I get the latest updates if I have rooted?
Yes, you need to install a custom recovery and flash SuperSU with it, but you wont be able to receive Ota updates when your rooted or have a custom Recovery installed.
I'm with infinite loop, how to solve?
my build no is mmb29q is not there
i dont have the ready to flash part
when i click root, ther's nothing donwload
when i try to unlock my boatloader it doesnt show the black screen with warning. any solution?
update your drivers on PC or use a different one, had the same issue
is regular update available after root ?
Updated new 5x to Android 7, build NRD90R but it is not listed in the toolkit.
it is, I literally just did it using that build for my Nexus
zCamzy // Innate so it does work for 7.0?
Dalton Kinley Correct
zCamzy // Innate cool. I'll do it later.
thanks zCamzy // Innate appreciated
will this factory reset my phone?
Great tutorial. Thank you!
Can you do this if you are on Android N preview? ( I realize that I am 7 months late)!
Yes you can
why should i root
All the data will be there after rooting or it will restore to default ?
Unlocking the bootloader wipes all your data, but rooting or installing Twrp doesnt.
Thanks a lot! I need it for EIS like Nexus 6P and maybe more :)
nice video man! Thank you!

I just want to be sure not to fuck my brand new Nexus 5X

[C]!∆z!o[0333]➜ ok thnx
does it void the warranty?
+Andrea Superchi I believe so, but I'm fairly sure you can reverse it to get the warranty back
Will this work for Android 7.1.1?
Yeah it will work. Just select "Any Build" 0:56
very good video, used it to root mine, just now, thanks a bunch
Can you still get software updates with root?
+sebbellic01 i can use nexus tool kit to install the software updates very easy. But normally nope, they don't install with root
Did you wipe your device or did you backup And if so, how did you backup without unlocking the bootloader? Because I thought he said: In order to use TWRP you need root. In order to use root you need unlocked bootloader. Unlocking bootloader will wipe your device. So I can't really backup because I have to unlock the bootloader. Please haalp :/
What is a root ? I don't know
then why the fuck are you here ?
what's the code to oem unlocking?
What do you mean? There's no code.
Your password I think
+Pawel Kedzia ok thanks ill try that
I don't see my build. I've got MHC19Q on mine. Anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: Just Googled it, and it seems I'm not the only one with this issue. Oh well, I imagine there's some way around this :P
you go from plugging in phone to some toolkit...typical directions for android phones with a lack of communication skills.
I cant unlock bootloader.
Nvm
How did you do it?
thanks
Nexus 5x new version 7.1.2

Chances of this working for ppl: 99.99%
Im not part of that 99.99% :')
Only Macs and chrome books have laptops with USB C
there are some windows laptops and PC motherboards that have female USB C connectors
You certainly are not aware of technology news... New 100$+ motherboards come with this port since like a year or more now.
