The reason for making this video is that with Android 6.0, root can't be achieved unless & until you flash a modified boot.img!

Commands used-
fastboot oem unlock [To unlock the Bootloader]
adb devices [To see conncted devices]
adb reboot bootloader [To boot into fastboot mode]
fastboot flash boot boot.img [To flash the modified boot.img]
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img [To flash the recovery permanantly]

A perfect video! One can also follow these steps to take an encrypted Nexus, decrypt it and then move on!
Just be sure to 'adb pull /sdcard/ C:/Some_Folder' first!

But doesn't rooting the 5X get rid of being able to use Android Pay though or doesn't the hardware blow an e-fuse once the bootloader is unlocked or is that only for the 6P?
David you just right click on fastboot in the abd folder in the root of your c drive and so long as your phone is hooked up it just finds it. doesn't need a drive letter. I got mine all completed, now I wanna know. how do I update this thing when updates are needed.

Trying to load the adb devices, but my computer only recognizes the nexus 5x as a portable device and not a lettered drive. Could you please point out how to have windows 7 recognize my phone as a lettered drive?

Once you root the phone , can you do OTA updates for nexus 5x (stock ROM)? I own a oneplus one and I cannot do so. I have to always download a full ROM and flash it manually... :(

You don't necessarily need to be in that exact drive, just in the folder that you place the .img image in - I recommend watching the full video first as that was where I failed. You will need the adb bootloader software downloaded.

When I flash TWRP it won't let me allow the modification. Someone tell me how I can fix it.

are we supposed to lock the bootloader after all this. there is a message at startup that says to lock the bootloader....
No you are not supposed to lock the bootloader again! That warning is because we have unlocked the bootloader!
