    good video....quick question: Instead of adb sideloading SU, can't I just intall it on internal sd and flash using twrp (after unlocking bootloader, of course). thanks.

    Thanks Roy, it worked on my Nexus 5X (7.1.2). I rooted the device to try & fix the black screen occurring with calls. The rooting went fine but the black screen is a tougher nut to crack, I've tried a few tricks like installing dialer.apk, proximity sensor recalibration apps, but no success so far. Will try wiping cache & uninstalling phone updates...

    • @EpicDroid
      @EpicDroid  7 лет назад

      +Wayne Elley you might want to look into the Pure Nexus ROM. If I remember right, it didn't have the black screen problem.

      EpicDroid thanks for the tip. Actually in the end it was a hardware problem. Dust had got in under the glass in front of the sensor when I replace the screen some months back. So a good clean with meths and the phone function is back working!

    Steps worked for me up untill installing the SuperSU, it gave me the message to not install it in on my nexus 5x but I couldnt find the program after the phone was restarted. tried downloading supersu from the playstore but it said it couldnt detect a spoof. any ideas?

    • @EpicDroid
      @EpicDroid  7 лет назад

      There have been several updates to SuperSU and Android since this video first was published. My bet is that the version of SuperSU is not compatible with the latest version of Android. Give this one here a try: s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip Same method, different ZIP.

    I think its way easier with nexus root toolkit. Detects your phone and build automatically, 1 button to unlock bootloader, 1 button to root, just sit back and relax while it does the job.

    • @EpicDroid
      @EpicDroid  7 лет назад

      +Raz Nahuel Yahalom the only thing I can think of is that you might need to try a newer version of SuperSU. If you followed the steps to the letter it should have worked.

    • @EpicDroid
      @EpicDroid  7 лет назад +1

      No worries! If you use Minimal ADB and Fastboot it takes care of all the path setup and everything. It creates a desktop shortcut that you run. It loads it from your Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder. Just make sure the files you need for rooting are in that same folder and you'll be good to go.

      I did run into a similar issue with my Nexus 5X once or twice where for some reason the computer I was using used the wrong drivers and it wouldn't recognize the phone in ADB or Fastboot. I had to go into Device Manager and change the drivers the computer was using to recognize the 5X. Apparently it's a common issue, especially with Acer computers (which my old computer was when I had the issue). Here's the thread I found when I had the issue. forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63740970&postcount=5

    Anyone who trying to do it with 7.1.2 should following putting the phone in developer options and use this www.google.com/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/orig-development/tool-universal-fastboot-adb-tool-t3475833/amp/ to unlock your bootloader and flash your recovery with twrp image. Next download forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703 latest stable superuser make sure it is on the root of your phone storage and flash through twrp not with side loading adb and there you have it a rooted nexus 5x it may work with 8.0 Oreo but haven't test it.

    first and foremost these instructions are so unclear its ridiculous, you never explained anywhere in the video to download a ADB tool for the cmd prompts. you start ur video with the cmd prompt already open and never explained anything. people this is not plug and play. the beginning of the video is true all the way til he shows the command prompts and then its a brick wall if your not familiar with bootloading. NEED TO HAVE A ADB tool for the cmd prompt line. smh

      Thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry that the video didn't cut it for you. When I made this video seven years ago, I was just starting out on RUclips and may have missed a few steps. That being said, the target audience is a group of people that would already have adb installed on their systems, I won't make that assumption in the future. I hope you were able to get your device rooted and running the way you wanted.
