There is absolutely no way you can be completely private living in a modern electronic world. The phones are tracked, computer usage is monitored and tracked, your financial history is tracked, cars are tracked, cameras are everywhere, shops, buses, highstreets, roads, door bells etc. The only way to be completely private is to buy a small holding somewhere in the middle of nowhere and live off-grid. However, I love hot water and hot showers, flushable toilets, gaming, tv and movies, and having fast food delivered to my door, so I guess I'll never be free. I bet even when I'm gone a camera will be watching my grave to make certain I'm not gonna make a bunk for freedom 😆

In the end, at least with android, if an app needs a permission it will tell me and I click and it takes you to that permission which it needs...thanks guys 😊

The frequency illusion is like when you buy a car new to you, and suddenly those specific vehicles seem to be everywhere. I feel like I could be a lab rat. RUclips is my only social media. I have a Facebook page but rarely go to/use it. my phone, on average, is used less than once a day. maybe 3x's a week, often less. I have a laptop for daily casual use. yet I mention one thing in a text (another sparsely used) or on a rare phone conversation - and, in your example, I get Disney ads. However, Disney is a broad well-known brand that could be a coincidence but in my direct experience my interest or mention of something on my (android) phone is very specific and lo and behold - my esoteric comment comes to ads. "they" are absolutely monitoring our tech and it feels very 1984-ish, or Big Brother if you prefer. thanks for the tutorial as this vintage woman is skeptical of carrying around my own spy. I call it my electronic leash. I resent it but a person of today has to have one. they can be handy/useful, but I lived for decades in rural areas w/o them, and it was fine. some of this is crabby old lady stuff but it's still very true.

The problem I have under apps is when I try to turn off permissions on my Samsung phone is that it doesn't let you turn off things that you don't want them to have. This includes location, microphone and others. So they actively, I'm assuming it's Google, make you give them this information.

A friends house was having flooding issues last week from days of rain, and she was telling me about how she had to use a cordless drill pump to empty the crawl space, casue her power was out. I said yeah my dad had one of those when i was a kid. and that was it, never searched for anything on my phone or asked it any questions about pumps or flooding or cordless drills or crawlspaces.. a day later my google feed has ads for cordless drill pumps attachments.

The problem with turning off ad personalization is that instead of ads from things of our normal everyday lives, we get trashy junk ads that me and my family get exposed to. So I'd much rather have ads for shoes I was just looking at at Walmart for my children instead of VS runway model ads or Rated R movie or Rated M game ads. As much as I don't like them knowing my every move I don't like other option even more.

I've noticed over the last few months that either while conversations are going on amoungst my friends OR while somebody is talking on my comp/telly all of a sudden my phone says "I didn't quite get that" or "do you want......??" it's driving me potty that my phone is listening in to nearby conversations even though it was not asked specifically to look for something....I don't like it at all...invasion of privacy...
thanks for walking us through that...I followed as far as Facebook because I don't have the other apps...now to just keep an eye on my phone butting into conversations..chuckle...

Every app you install listens and tracks you and also phishes for phone information. I have an app information blocker, so it prevents all these apps from obtaining information such as the phone I'm using, software, operating system, location, storage, city, country, so on and so forth. It's normally 3rd party companies associated with the app that want the information. I know, I know, I could just deny the app from access, but some apps will not work or work correctly unless you've given them permission. This could also account for battery loss from the amount of information being sent.
One company racked up 3715 attempts in 6 hours trying to obtain information from my phone.

Don't use software updates. Use at home locator. Then your phone becomes like a walking talking under its own frequency. So when they try to track you no matter where you are ,it will be at your home address, your IP. Therefore making you basically invisible. Outside of your home. I have a masters with honors in computer literacy and I program my own phone. I own the same phone after 5 years and no degradation in the system. Battery perfectly fine. If it gets warm put your phone in the freezer for about 5 minutes. Cooling down its radiation signature just like cooling towers work for nuclear power station.
If you go off the road in the snow storm, no one can see you. That's then you turn your locator on, so they can ping where you're at, and help you. Software updates opened your phone to them again.
Don't update. Not even the weather forecast.
