Got a Samsung A13 5G and under the Other privacy settings, after the Samsung items and under the Google settings, there's not a "Google personalization button", that you show is above the "Android System Intelligence" button. Where else could it be? Or did it somehow disappear when adjusted the other settings?
What does one do, about an employer app, that one must have, to clock in and out...which I didn't realize at the time, they think they have to my location when I only want to check my schedule?....I'm a caregiver for elderly...this really bothers me...I have nothing to hide, it's just the principle of the thing....I dont feel they have the right to know where I am, when I'm only checking my schedule.
I have android but my phone doesn't work like you explain. There is no settings in my pull down menu. Another vid you did I could not follow because my phone doesn't have the same set up. Moto G note
Now I understand how the mobile phone can eavesdrop. My daughter and I sat and talked and ten minutes later there was an advertisement about what we just talked about.
Yes my family has noticed this to. Something happened the other day, i hadn't talked out loud about what i was thinking or researched it online or in a book ...it was about two weeks ago, and me brain isn't remembering what it was, but all of a sudden im getting prompts on my phone in the buy and sell or whatever ,cause all i recall thinking ,was there is no way .
People want software for free, so if you're not paying for a product, then YOU are the product which is getting sold (or, your information is what's being sold, as you agree to everything to get the 'free' app).
@@d.e.b.b5788 People don't have the option to buy the software. In fact there is no option at all. You either have to agree with terms and conditions or you can't use the software/app.
Thank God for people like these 2 gentleman, who not only explain, but also show step-by-step on the phone how to cut out the 'third eye.' Thank you, very informative.
You don't know if what they are saying is fact or fiction. If one doesn't take any or everything stated on the internet with a dose of salt it means you'll believe anything
Some of the settings in this video i couldn't access because it told me I had to sign in first :/ I'm already signed in but okay, fine. Then it goes "now agree to all this privacy invading stuffs while you're trying to sign in so you can turn off this privacy invading setting."
Or you can simply get into the habit of turning off your data signal when you are carrying your phone and you simply turn it on again when you choose to do your emails and youtoob and stuff . Your phone will still be a phone and people will still be able to call you.
One of the most comprehensive videos on the subject of privacy. Oh, one could only wish that it were available in more languages, people should know this! One thing to note: when you transfer data to a new device using Samsung Smart Switch, many of the settings won't survive (for example, the developer's mode won't be on). Watch this video again and check the new device.
Okay I just want to share my experience following most of the things said in this video. So it's been like 2 weeks now since I watched this video and I gotta say... these things really did made my Galaxy S10e last a little longer. And it was noticeable for me ngl. I actually couldn't believe it especially yesterday while I was out for like almost 5 hours with mobile data turned, my Galaxy Watch4 & Galaxy Buds+ connected, listening to music at around 40-70% volume, Ambient mode on level 3 and they were mostly in my ears the whole time I was outside, and I came home with a battery of 33%. What's impressive is that I haven't replaced its stock battery yet. So thank you so much, David & David 🤘🤍👏
Thanks, guys! I had to pause your video about 800 times cause my new android is a bit different, but I got it done ... Enjoyed the laughs, and of course all the knowledge you both have! I'll spread the word 😊
Something important to note: With the current Android update, if sensors off is enabled, the camera will work but the microphone is disabled but there's no warning. So if you record a video the sound will not record and you won't know this until you play the video back.
@@H0kram try iphones, where there is no option. Camera and microphone are two separate sensors, it is not a "trick". That's why these "developer options" were made for developers, not ordinary users.
@@H0kram I highly doubt this feature was "developed" to work that way. We are talking about completely different teams. One team puts in the capability to turn off the sensors, while the other is working on the photos app. Not realizing that they need to account for sensors being off. Could be a lot of other scenarios as well. Just a common problem with complex systems with different groups working on different components and applications.
@@iqbalindaryono8984 Hanlon's razor. Also though, it's a super edge case, that may just not have been prioritized since there are way more important features in a camera.
The most important thing to do is when you set up your phone, any optional checkbox, uncheck it unless you absolutely need it. A lot of these settings are right there in the setup process. And I always think, any data being processed or sent off could mean extra battery life, even it a little. The location data is the absolute worst at draining your battery quickly, as well as the Google play services, so tighten down the permissions for that service.
If you do this the phone tells you it will misbehave if you deny it permissions. Often later after denying a phone permissions when I come back it's turned on and the toggle is grayed out so I no longer have the option to turn it off. Many different settings that Google help instructions tell me that I have simply don't exist when you go to the spot Google says they're at. I've completely given up attempting to control the settings on my phone because it seems impossible to access the settings needed. Don't tell me that I can reach these settings when I spent weeks working every day for hours and never, and I mean never being able to access many of the settings that Google help said it was directing me to.
@@okd521 You're right on target. They set the software to automatically re-enable spyware so you don't know it's turned on. So unless you go into the settings every few hours, you're going to be spied on.

I need to go back to basics, too as I'm self taught but for the most part,I have no clue what things actually mean. For me, everything in this video worked great except for the first "Sensors Off" setting (at 1:12). When I select "Sensors Off", it has no effect at all. i.e. a) I don't get the new sensors tile in the quick settings menu and b) all the sensors are still on. It has literally done nothing at all, as far as I can tell. Any ideas? Googling just seems to bring up this exact process. It should just work as described in this video. I tried rebooting in case that would help, it didn't.
Can you please share how you discovered somebody else is using your phone because I think I have that too for many signs and signals and problems that I have
I have only used a smart phone for five years, and don't use computers. It took me months to realize there were settings within settings, permissions, etc., but I am using a Samsung S10 that's around 4 years old, and using many of the battery saving tweaks and tricks you both recommend. No joke, I am using my phone all day long, with videos, streaming, texts, emails and social media, etc., and my phone often shows on-screen times of seven and a half to a bit over 8 hours on any given day! I have impressed some serious phone techies who are much more experienced than I! My only problem is when I optimize all of my apps at one time, and I go back to that setting just minutes later, all of those blue 'on' toggle lights are no longer lit up. You guys are the best, and have fun, too! 🎯
One more point - if you are very careful what you agree to in the first place when setting up your phone and setting up apps, most of these settings will never get turned on. I never agree to anything that I don't have to during setup.
3 minutes in and you have got a new subscriber. Expect many more soon. This video is awesome. I'm glad to have the option to block access by these trackers. Many thanks guys
Oh my word!!!! You guys are sooooo helpful! I have an android and followed all of your suggestions. You make it very easy to follow, step-by-step through the phone. Ty so much for being helpful to ev1! 😊
I was happy to find I had everything in check already. But I double checked and made a couple changes. Save data for 3 months only instead of 18. Maybe I decided that when I didnt understand. Done now. Everything off. Thank you!
To make this easier: When starting a new Android phone the first time, turn off *all* settings that could possibly send information about you (name, location, etc). This saves going through many sub-folders later. The only setting not covered by this method is "disable all sensors", for which the developer mode needs to be activated beforehand.
@First Prototype okay then just get rid of your phone or try not some way or another to shut off as most of it as you can. I know at least some of the things that feel invasive are stopped by this because I've tested it.
One appreciates you guys so much! All of my data was deleted and then my phone was consistently controlled, kept getting kicked out of posting a comment on a new gospel music video that just dropped. People... Anyhow you guys are great. I will make sure I tell others.

Personally, I've experienced game apps being installed on my phone without my knowledge (much less my consent). I've deleted these apps and a few months later when I am going through my settings for something else, I see these games have reappeared on my phone. I will be using this information and hope that it fixes this problem. Thank you, and keep up the awesome work!
While a lot have been switched off by me already, you still have shown me some other nice tuning options to lessen the battery and data drain 🙂 THANKS!

Before. I've had this problem and you know, its really frustrating. Its a lucky thing that this *Strategic techies* guide is very understandable. The fact that you took the time to explain the process, and give a backstory really added an extra to the tutorial. Keep bringing practical content like this.
I really appreciate you providing this information. I have changed permissions in permission manager and they keep changing them. Have had a extremely difficult time dealing with these issues. I've went through 4 phones since July because I have been hacked. I ended up completely changing provider, number and new phone. They have me linked to my old account. Not only that, they are going through each and every app I had in my play store... Most have not been used for over 5 years. Requesting me to provide reviews for apps from 2016. ... Many more issues. Too much to go over now.
Try deleting unused apps and read my comment above about this vid. Please know rebooting sometimes re-initializes or re-installs "Pre-Programmed" applications originally installed on the device!!!!!! I have uninstalled progs with no problems and "for me" they have not re-appeared ! Please keep those things in mind with android and different devices! I dont think it is the provider as much as it is the progs on it ! Sometimes finding out WHAT APPLICATION? is causing the issue will correct anything you have gone through ! I hope this helps ! GB I have never had to go to "Developer" options to correct anything!
They know you're you based on location and location based on other devices around you. Also I bet you GAVE THEM YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS when you paid for the phones with a card I bet. But no matter what you won't have any privacy using any phone or computer. Period.

same. However the option is greyed and says "needed to operate" before I even touch it. must be part of the "updates" to many, it seems they know they are losing info on many users and are trying to stop the work arounds. hopefully they havent got to all the models, or all features. like the UN and WEF said, you will have no privacy, you will own nothing and you will be happy. Turning off sensors a great idea, but I still cover both cameras on my phone. If someone is able to remotely access your phone, they can change settings and still remotely turn on your camera by reversing the steps.

@@vaspadure2725 it is better to remove the microphone. Preferably have a certified technician, if it is something you are not comfortable doing yourself.
A very important developer option that was missed in this video is changing the default USB configuration. By default, android allows any USB connection effectively full access to your phone. This can mean plugging in your phone to a computer at work to get a quick charge can allow your work computer's security software to run a full scan of your device and install management apps, or even worse if you use a public charger at an airport or something then it can automatically install malware to your device. All this can be prevented by changing the default usb behavior to "charge only" and you tap a notification to change it when you'reat home on your personal computer and whatnot. Also, it's notable with these settings changes that quite frequently android updates will re-enable many of these settings or install new apps and automatically hand over admin priviledges to the new app (when you can't disable system updates ability to install apps) so you really have to go through this process every few months to check what new BS android has done to your phone. One of the more recent android updates on samsung has made "smart switch" permanently installed, it cannot be disabled, and it has access to absolutely everything on your device, all of which was done without any warning to the user.
I really appreciate you guys showing this. After i got access to the developer options and changed a few things, my phone runs a whole lot smoother and some of the little features like icon shape and stuff like that was really cool to mess with as well. My phone had like 3 screens of options under developer options that i would have never knew about if it wasn't for you guys, so thanks again and keep up the good work!

What you're using on your phone is closed source. Samsung, Google, Xiaomi etc do not release sources for their OS, only for the kernel. AOSP is open source, but no device runs that. The closest you can get to a usable open source OS on a phone, is GrapheneOS on a pixel.
That's not what open source means. And many parts of Android are very much closed source, all the Google and Samsung stuff for example. Developer options are open source, but also while it is open, you can just see it (or fork it into your own OS), Google won't accept your PRs if you submit any changes. AOSP and the Android you get on your phone differ in many ways.

Thank you guys for sharing this information about Android phones. I am curious however, do we need to turn off Developer mode once finished with adjusting the settings you discussed, and is it possible to create a problem if we don't turn off or exit from the developer mode? Kind regards!
I wondered the same thing. I'd rather not keep it on myself, just in case. There's a toggle switch if you want to turn it off. You can always turn it on again later.
@@beautifulflower67 Thank you for your input. I'm aware of the new 'toggle button' that appears in the pull down menu on our phones once we've entered developer mode & I've learned what it affects on my Android phone when turning it on, and off. However what I'm referring to is how they had us push on the build number 7 times, and we all get the message 'you are now a developer' and so what I was asking in my original question, is about completely exiting developer mode. For example, once I followed their instructions by pushing the build number 7 times, I became a developer. Then after deciding how I wanted to proceed & configure my phone settings; I was curious and went back to the build number, thinking maybe if I pushed it 7 times again it would exit developer mode. But it does not. In fact when I tried it, I only pushed on the build number once (after already being a developer) and I instantly got a message telling me that 'you are already a developer' This is the context of what I was asking about in my original comment/question; What if I want to exit developer mode, could it possibly cause issues with the phone or whatever; anything I don't like .. then if so, how to turn it off, and or if there is a way to exit the developer mode? Also to add: I did find out that entering developer mode caused my phone to change some settings that I did not change while following along with the video. Nothing major so far, but one example is that it changed my settings for notifications for text messages and made my phone vibrate as well as my notification tone. And I noticed that right away bcuz I don't ever use a vibrate option for notifications.

Question for anyone who knows. Since all these settings are controlled by software buttons and not hardware buttons, what prohibits apps from temporarily turning these settings back on without your knowledge?
When you disable these options, you change the configuration of the operating system of your phone. All applications run on top of the operating system, so they don't have the power or privilege to change its settings. You could say that the operating system is what dictates what applications can do. Only the user can change its settings.
The kernel itself, the most intricate and highest administrator of anything that can run an OS. Can it be hacked to bypass it? Probably. Is it realistically going to happen without some massive news? No.
"You could say that the operating system is what dictates what applications can do. Only the user can change its settings" So you're saying it's impossible for a virus to change the OS settings, only a hardware option (your fingers) can make those changes?
Personally, I don't believe that just by shutting these options off that they are really off. Could be that they are just intended to convince us they are. Just as Google can access tons of data from your phone when it's turned off.
Great video guys! Thank you for making it easier for me to take back control of my phone. Now I can follow these simple steps to make my phone run more efficiently. I'm real glad that I came across your channel!
Haha.. You have more control of your phone, but you haven't taken back control of your phone. I used to think the same as yourself until I still, on a very regular basis, catch Google doing sneaky, stuff it's not supposed to. I've since given up in believing my phone is mine, even though I paid for it. Google owns it, and Microsoft is migrating in that same direction with Windows for a while. Logitech is equally guilty for their PC products.
The efficiency of this *Strategic techies* is next level. To juggle walk throughs of various angles on the topic delivered to-camera, differnet content per topic from various folks underneath the umbrella of the track list of the larger big band concert itself is engaging and refined. To make a dense taccess like this so digestible is really something. Awesome work !!
I am so glad that I found this video because I now feel mildly safer about what is being used on my phone and what is being tracked.. It has been found that alot of the time you disable Google and Samsung apps from gaining access to different peripherals, a network snipper has still caught phones sending data for those apps still.
Mostly helpful - can you say what version of Android the phone you're showing is on? Different Android versions will have different menus/ arrangement of the menus. Mine looked different for several things - I'm on Android 13/Samsung One UI 5.0 - For example, to find Permission Manager, I had to go to Settings>Security and Privacy>Privacy>Permission Manager. So you may need to click around to find where this stuff is if you're on a different version of Android.
Turning on Developer Mode will be the same for all Android versions. Once you turn it on, you can use the search tool to get you right to Developer Options.
@@carolinthegarden6084 You might be correct, but on my version, the menu for the "quick settings developer tiles" does not include the bottom 3 items, Sensors off (which is what we where looking for), Wireless debugging or Show taps
So just imagine if you purchased a Chinese branded smartphone like Huawei or Xiaomi, they most likely have a developer mode right into the hardware itself that the Chinese government can switch on anytime remotely. Remember that the founder of Huawei is a former officer of the People's Liberation Army of China.
Meanwhile, your own US government constant start wars and commit war crimes, coerced and forced your whole country into lockdown, injecting not-vaccine into your body, taking away your livelihood, funded the coronavirus test of function research and then "not released" it to the whole world, blaming the Chinese the whole time, and most people lack critical thinking to see or even believe that *yawns*.
All our leaders in government tasked with protecting us and American assets and secrets in general from foreign spying and espionage have disgustingly failed. I've known china etc has been a threat and engaging in covert warfare against us for years. Yet our leaders either got paid off, are insanely nieve in "trusting" enemies to follow "rules and laws", are mentally impaired, too hateful and selfish always power grabbing and fighting fellow Americans, or they knew and are working for china, or all of the above. They need to be imprisoned for failing to do their jobs and putting our national security in the worst condition it's ever been jn.

Terrific video with advanced but easily accomplished settings adjustments, enhancing privacy & avoiding unnecessary data collection by installed apps. I'm only thru the first 8:49, pausing while viewing actual adjustments in a side-by-side view. The $2 donation offer re: commenting is a real deal! Keeping my fingers crossed, the video ending has no post-credit risk warnings... so to speak.
I don't get the "Sensors off" option in "Quick settings developer tiles" (Android 11 and MIUI 13, POCO X4 pro 5G bought new in July 2022). Is it an Android 12 function?
It was introduced in Android 10 but is probably hidden by MIUI - Xiaomi is a CCP company after all. Disable 'MIUI Optimisation' and it'll probably appear.
I'm using all of those options since they are available. Some of them are old options, some are new. What to expect: - Overall better performance and responsiveness of the phone - Better battery life Besides that, I always run UAD after setting up new phones. There, on almost any android OS, are tones of software programs that are under big question and running under radar. About 30-40 of them. Delete them from existence, and experience the difference.

Something important to note: With the current Android update, if sensors off is enabled, the camera will work but the microphone is disabled but there's no warning. So if you record a video the sound will not record and you won't know this until you play the video back.
Imagine being a dev working on a nasty trick like that, that's shameful.
@@MattBodily So instead of being malicious, they're just incompetent? Proper QA would've caught that.

@@vaspadure2725 I am planning on upgrading to a Linux phone this year just for the physical switches to turn things like camera and microphone off. Or may just have them removed from my phone, I use wires earbuds when I am on the phone as it is. I leave Bluetooth off for security purposes.

how do you cover the cameras without triggering accidental touch/messing up key presses?
One of the more recent android updates on samsung has made "smart switch" permanently installed, it cannot be disabled, and it has access to absolutely everything on your device, all of which was done without any warning to the user.
on one ui 6 this is not possible as there is new feature called auto blocker

It's not "android" that's doing it.
It's GApps (Google Applications... ie: the GUI that runs over the top of AOSP)

Open source vs closed. This is why I've always chose Android for years and years and this video confirms that. 😊
What you're using on your phone is closed source. Samsung, Google, Xiaomi etc do not release sources for their OS, only for the kernel. AOSP is open source, but no device runs that. The closest you can get to a usable open source OS on a phone, is GrapheneOS on a pixel.
@@m4t7eoPixel Experience 😁
That's not what open source means. And many parts of Android are very much closed source, all the Google and Samsung stuff for example. Developer options are open source, but also while it is open, you can just see it (or fork it into your own OS), Google won't accept your PRs if you submit any changes. AOSP and the Android you get on your phone differ in many ways.
android is not fully open-source, google still wants to make money and thus autoinstall the proprietary Google Mobile Services on every phone

I straight up disabled everything Google (and would have installed a unGoogled OS if this phone would let me), and have locked down everything else as much as I can without straight up destroying functionality. That, plus not using social media, I get 48+ hours of battery life. On a five year-old phone.

Thank you guys for sharing this information about Android phones.
I am curious however, do we need to turn off Developer mode once finished with adjusting the settings you discussed, and is it possible to create a problem if we don't turn off or exit from the developer mode?
Kind regards!
Good question!
In fact when I tried it, I only pushed on the build number once (after already being a developer) and I instantly got a message telling me that 'you are already a developer'
This is the context of what I was asking about in my original comment/question; What if I want to exit developer mode, could it possibly cause issues with the phone or whatever; anything I don't like .. then if so, how to turn it off, and or if there is a way to exit the developer mode?
Also to add: I did find out that entering developer mode caused my phone to change some settings that I did not change while following along with the video. Nothing major so far, but one example is that it changed my settings for notifications for text messages and made my phone vibrate as well as my notification tone. And I noticed that right away bcuz I don't ever use a vibrate option for notifications.
@@dbLove1111 great comments! Thx for sharing! I am also interested in your questions.

2021?
Only the user can change its settings"
So you're saying it's impossible for a virus to change the OS settings, only a hardware option (your fingers) can make those changes?
Well explained and easy to follow.
Thank you kindly
