It doesn't matter if you turn that stuff off or not. There was a news reporter who took a phone that was activated and one that wasn't all over Washington DC throughout the day and then analyzed the data at the end of the day for both phones. The one that wasn't activated was tracked and shared just as much data as the other one that was activated.

Pixel phones don't use Gallery, they use Photos. There are some other differences in the Settings menus as well, so you might have to dig around a little to find all of these hacks if you aren't using a Samsung phone. Also, phone heating up - yes, take a look at your apps, I found that there was a radio station streaming app that was continuously running in the background. Once I changed the background settings for that app, my phone cooled down and the battery life returned to normal.
I went through every single app and was surprised to find that the vast majority of them were using background battery and data I shut all of that off and I never had a problem with my phone overheating since although it did take a long freaking time

Crazy I went and looked in the location history & saw the day I bought my motorcycle. It showed everywhere I was those 2 days 😮.....thank you for sharing how to turn this off.
What you need to do to avoid tracking, is remove all services you don't need, install the programs you will need, tune the permissions, and turn off the updates forever. The phone works perfectly fine with the software installed on factory. If you still want to update, take a few steps to understand exactly what this update brings to you. And no, don't believe every single update fixes some mysterious "security vulnerabilities". There is no such thing, especially not that many, in a software which is being developed for a good decade.

the problem with cellphones, especially samsung, is they come with all kinds of crapware you don't want and can't delete. some of it you can't even turn off. everything should be off from the factory so you can turn on ONLY what you want and install ONLY what you want! i had a samsung for a while and took it back to my carrier and told them they can have that p o s back!

How do we know for sure that any of these actions actually work? For example, using incognito mode, do you really trust Google not to be monitoring your history then?
Even IF you do all of these, google pretty much knows everything. They will know your device type, your ip address (so your physical address) etc. Go read google privacy policy.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: The root checker is being called a scam in their reviews for the last couple months. Seems people downloaded and error messages pop up. Remedy is supposedly BUYING a set of apps. Several reviews remarked customer service was bad or slow to respond.
I can't believe how suspicious people are. So what? Do you know how many criminals have been caught using that system? If you're not doing anything shameful or illegal... who cares?!
The nice thing about android is in the future you will be able to use third party distributions like linux. I am sure phone companies will continue to try and lock phones to their OS and/or network. Network is the huge change that will happen in the next 5-10 years, though. We most certainly won't be using the same protocols.
Thanks guys, you have really raised my awareness of what your phone can do behind the scenes without your permission. The ph. manual does not include your expert knowledge. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 It is so much more than just a tool to make phone calls and check emails etc . I have hit that subscribe button.
Rooting is really only good for recovering data that was deleted on an old phone no longer in use. In order for a data recovery app to be installed and to actually work . .. it's usually required that the phone be rooted first. At this point, it doesn't matter if the phone loses its ability to be fully secure because it's been abandoned and replaced for a newer model phone anyway and the only reason it's being rooted is to recover data someone intentionally deleted data on. Law enforcement and or detectives use such tricks to reveal leads in unsolved cases. Sometimes its used by a significant other in a relationship to discover unanswered questions about the activities of their partner after the phone has been replaced and left in a drawer someplace.

As an over-the-road driver I'd be sitting somewhere bored so I started going into Settings and Permissions to see what's what and basically taught myself how to set up and turn off things I didn't want on. A lot of young people probably couldn't handle using my phone because I've turned off so much crap I consider to be useless or just not needed.
"Old" people know that they are not that interesting for someone to actually care enough to track...
@@denisemiller9921, 🤣😂😅

Google tracking is automatic even when you don't want to accept any of the settings when their updates come take a notice that it after an update what happens to that setting and many don't know they don't need your permission to try Q have you read your terms and conditions of your own mobile plan
14:35 to see if your phone is rooted go to settings > about phone > status information > scroll down until you get to phone status. If phone status is official then it's not rooted. If it's custom. Then you can have a problem
Privacy & security is imperative in these nasty , ugly times !!!! Bottom line , do no business over your phone !!!! Or, TRASH CAN , your smart phone !!!! Don't depend on your phone for all that you do !!!

Working alongside you is a pleasure, and your dedication to your role serves as an inspiration to me. I will always remember the help and support you’ve provided me with.
I remember that! I'm not too worried, cuz I truly don't care. My kids say I throw off this "F" with me vibe that scares people away from me. Then I was raised by a crazy "faded away" Marine. How many civilians, (do you know) can be upside down, blindfolded, break down any gun, clean it, re-oil it, put it back together correctly? Well, I can, so again I'm not too worried!!

@@PayetteForward hi I have a A13 android. and I have a question for you guys? On my phone where it says data background, should I turn it OFF???
Hi, thanks for your safety tip but will like if while you explaining we can also see the settings you in by zooming for our eyes to see clearly
Good info! I had a library app that did the same thing.
I went through every single app and was surprised to find that the vast majority of them were using background battery and data I shut all of that off and I never had a problem with my phone overheating since although it did take a long freaking time

I found out that a weird app named Meta Service was sending a lot of data and was draining my battery. Turned out it was Facebook spying on me without telling me. F***ing disabled it right away.
My old phone used to randomly go to the lock screen, or turn the volume up or down without the buttons being touched. It scared me into wiping my phone to factory settings and it stopped

My hubby of 25 years and abuse on many levels. Thls time he moved some things. Yet still stopping by for various reasons. One day I was sitting and chatting on the phone. I was looking on my phone and my Blu tooth was trying to pair up with my phone. Keep this in mind l don't live in town settings. I live in the country on acres of land. I hurried to shut off Blu tooth. Plus l told the person I was talking to what had just happened. A short time later my husband walked into the house. HEIIO IT MADE SKIN CRAWL.
SLOW DOWN or break up your videos better. Half the settings you reference are not even in the same place anymore. So its a constant back and forth between the phone and the computer pausing, backing up or feeling lost. There is more to being helpful than data dumping.

No one can track me. Because I never take my phone with me. I leave it at home. If they track me they just know that i never carry my phone and it's left in the same space all the time.
Nice video and review 👍
Crazy I went and looked in the location history & saw the day I bought my motorcycle. It showed everywhere I was those 2 days 😮.....thank you for sharing how to turn this off.
thanks for the great tips!

If your phone is heating up and the battery is going quicker than normal you may be in a low signal area and your phone is constantly looking for a signal or good signal.
For people like me this vid was so very useful, but people like me need a little more time to get to the details perhaps you could slow down just a bit. You are going at the speed that others who already know these things would follow easily . But not a 70 year old, still thanks so much for this it was really helpful .
Hun, you can just pause it between steps, and start watching again.
Or you can turn the speed down to slow.

the problem with cellphones, especially samsung, is they come with all kinds of crapware you don't want and can't

The reality is there is no way to avoid being spied on when using electronic devices.
Hate to burst your bubble, but Google tracks your Android no matter what you select. You can't turn it off. If you gave Google apps installed, Google has your info down to you phone's IMEI. Only a de-Googled phone can be fully secured.

Thanks for your comment! We appreciate your input and we understand your concern about privacy and security. We definitely want to make sure our viewers are informed and safe.
Although we're not sure you can ever be totally safe, there are still some steps you can take to increase your privacy and security. For example, you can use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to encrypt your data and hide your IP address. You can also use a secure web browser like Firefox Focus or DuckDuckGo.

Yes. This whole phone thing has become down right stupid beyond all sense.
Not only are we missing our real lives, but we are putting ourselves in perpetual danger.

The nice thing about android is in the future you will be able to use third party distributions like linux.
I am sure phone companies will continue to try and lock phones to their OS and/or network.
Network is the huge change that will happen in the next 5-10 years, though.
We most certainly won't be using the same protocols.
