The whole "They can do that, what's wrong with me?" I'm like that with driving. It seriously terrifies me, and I have slow reaction time, and it's so bad that it literally feels debilitating. It's like a life skill I have to have, but it's such a huge huge struggle for me. A struggle I'm afraid I'm never going to conquer. :(

I feel the same way. I got into a car accident once, wasn’t even that big of an accident but since then I haven’t been able to get behind the wheel since.

My single greatest challenge with anxiety is how it manifests. The worse the anxiety, the worse the nausea. After years of vomiting during panic attacks, I now often choose not to eat (because then the nausea is far less if not non-existent). Unfortunately, that has led to more health issues like a state of semi starvation. But if I just eat, and throw up in front of people, that might set back my progress. How do I tackle these two factors (nausea vs anxiety) when they are in a chicken-or-the-egg situation? I can't keep not eating but I also can't keep throwing up.
Right now I'm just doing exposure therapy, but that could take years. I want to live normally now. I want to stop making my health worse now.

I had a period of depression which also manifested in nausea and dyspepsia. I'd feel sick most of the time and even if I felt hungry, I could only eat a small amount before feeling ill again. I was given antacids which really helped with the nausea: pantoprazole. I took one 30 minutes before eating, and it calmed everything down. I don't know if you've tried that or can get something like that. Might be an option to consider?

Try asking your GP/PCP for an antiemetic if you haven’t already. A family member was given ondansetron for suspected cyclic vomiting.

I have GAD. So my question is. I have so many anxiety triggers, so how do you know which ones to begin working on with desensitization?

After my traumatic brain injury when i was 15, my family became very aware of all the resources available to us, so ive basically grown up with the mindset that things are possible with the right help. That doesn't make it easy, though it's quite empowering.

I have CPTSD, anxiety, depression. I constantly feel like I am on defense, constantly feeling like I have to have my guard up (which usually presents itself by being angry all the time) so as not to get hurt, and to say it’s exhausting is an understatement. So how do I fix that? If I let my guard down and let people get close I get hurt and if I don’t then I’m just constantly living my life in a state of exhaustion.

I've dealt with anxiety pretty much all my life, and for pretty much all of my life it was something I thought I could manage. However, recently I've realized there's a branch of it that I have left unaddressed and subconsciously just gone through avoidance as soon as I started to encounter it. Any time I am at a point of making big decisions or where there are important things I need to do that a lot is riding on, I get overwhelming anxiety. Between having become aware of that and also life circumstances creating a perfect anxiety storm, I've found myself in an almost constant state of panic for months. What can I do when my anxiety presents itself in a new way and old reliable calming methods are suddenly working only briefly? What can I do to remain functional despite my anxiety?

My single greatest challenge with anxiety is management without medication. Drs keep pulling me off only to put me back on. I was being successfully treated even if no one likes benzodiazepines. Please help.

My Dad, who is a retired mental health professional likes the active meditation method of finding something around you to observe very closely, in every minute detail. This causes a shift in the part of the brain that is active, moving you out of anxiety.
Like during a panic attack he asks increasingly specific questions about your surroundings like "what furniture is in the same room with you right now" then "the couch has how many legs" then "is the couch one color" then "what color is it" then what does the fabric feel like"
And so on, things like that.
I did that once, I got triggered into hyperventilating anxiety in my living room and pulled myself out of it by describing, then counting all the little lines in a wall decoration.
I think the box breathing shown on this channel employs this meditation as well as supplies needed oxygen to the brain, because hyperventilating indicates an increase in need for oxygen. Whatever method works for you, hope you find one that works for you ❤

I'm a highly sensitive person with a history of depression and anxiety (on venlafaxine currently). One thing I struggle with is my subconcious: I have very vivid dreams generally, and the anxiety versions are horrific. I can give details of what I dream if you like, but generally it's about being unprepared, overwhelmed, abandoned, lost or under attack. These dreams leave me exhausted in the morning. Is there something I can do to try and alleviate these? So far I've tried diazepam (which I don't like to take a lot of, or often - I take half a tablet if absolutely necessary) and magnesium (no notable change). I'm about to try another tablet with kava in it to see if it can quieten the dreams. I'm open to suggestions...

This statement touches me where I live! Unfortunately, sometimes medication is necessary to normalcy. My diabetes won't get better without those injections, and my depression/Borderline Personality will bother me unless I take that sertraline. I'm constantly researching herbal or nutritional remedies, though experience shows that I always do better when I'm properly medicated. Best wishes to you!

@@wendychavez5348 but that's my whole point. I hate that I can't just be normal without the pills.
Obviously diabetes is different. But my mental health? I hate myself for the way I can never be...
