- My Budget Build Honda CIvic continues with my FIRST major modification! So in today's video, we install the TruHart Street Plus Coilovers and dial in the ride height. Lowering a Honda Civic is nothing new, but never gets old! Let's GO!
In my 5 Things to make your Underpowered Honda more fun to drive video, lowering the car was on top of the list! There's just something about a lowered Honda that makes them so much better. So I decided to go with the TruHarts AGAIN because I genuinely think they are the best bang for the buck. Jason joins me again to help with the process and show you how to install coilovers from start to finish. I wanted to make this video more educational, but it ended up being entertaining as well. At Least I think so haha.
We found that adjusting the coilover off the car is much much easier. Measure twice, install once. Give yourself a good starting point using your old suspension as a starting point, then adjust down as needed. Once on the car, weight will change and springs will settle. At that point you can make your small adjustments. Overall, I want to say we lowered the car 2.75 inches in the front and roughly 2.5 in the rear. Giving it a slight rake. Some slight fender liner rub, but nothing I'm concerned about. Next up is going to be the wheels to bring the look together.
So you might be thinking, what's the difference between cheap vs expensive coilovers? And where do the truharts sit in the pack? There is such a thing as too cheap, I try to stay away from suspension parts that seem too good to be true. Cheap coils may bind, leak, creak, or provide bad ride quality. Expensive ones will obviously give you more adjustability and are made of higher quality materials. I think the TruHarts are the best mix of quality and affordability. The only thing they lack is dampening, but for me, that's not needed. Adjusting the preload and height of the car is good enough for me!

That’s unfortunate. Especially when you have time, $ & effort into a it. Sucks to just get violated like that. I suggest you instal a JDI kill switch as well as their push start. There’s no way for them to steal your car if you install those 2 things & they’re relatively cheap considering no one can steal your car. The push start requires your a fob to pass over a sensor in order to start it & than the kill switch is self explanatory lol

mannnn, I have the exact same car in black and I love it to death. Previous owner chopped the springs so it sits about as low and I wanna put coilovers in it instead. It really does feel like shit for bumps.

I know this vídeo is from last year but can you post what measurements the thread did you go with? I followed the install guide recommendation and some how ended up the rear being lower than the fronts

Honestly, just takes time and patience. Bump stops, making sure tabs are in the right position, etc

are you able to make the coilovers the same height as the original or go higher than the original? I want to get coilovers for my car but I want it to be able to go a little higher that it was before bcuz I want to put bigger rims. are coilovers cable of doing that?
nobody going to tell him his front coilovers are facing the wrong way? the little bracket with the slit on the bottom @10:40 mark, is supposed to be facing towards the back and it slots into the slit on the knuckle and that keeps the lower cup from rotating.
This is correct! We did end up going back and turning them around, just didn’t film it! Should have included that

Did you guys put a rubber washer on the bottom by the fork where the 17mm bolts goes in??

Great video minus one thing. You didn't show us how you adjusted the rear coilovers. which is the reason I even came. I was trying to see where I should set mine. It's cool that you have the same car and same tools as me. Milwaukee for the win. Oh BTW nobody tightened that bolt like that. Every one of them are like that.

Hey what is the measurements on your trueharts? (mainly looking for the preload). I got these after I saw the video on your red civic. They ride SUPER low on my car but I'm at max adjustment.
I talk about my preload in this! Basically just get it snug while it’s jacked up. Barely enough wiggle to spin the spring
