    For the guys that want to do this conversion. Do it, this tutorial is by far the best one among the others that are available right now. That said dont be fooled by how easy it looks. I just finished my conversion and it took me 2 days (having work and a hobby isnt a good combo), this guy clearly knows what hes doing. I followed the project step by step, some parts where easy some where hella hard like trimming the tray, and wiring the console. All in all the ac possition was very clean. Great video and as a guy who just finished it id like to say take your time and dont rush it. Mistakes will happen some of which you cant afford happening. Thank you man, great and clean video.

The earlier models had a few issues with screen condensation and just generally really slow to operate. I have not had any major issues with their newer units. The only issue was a faulty GPS antenna which was sorted through warranty. Once you get passed setting it up like you would a phone and personalisation, it really works well!

    First off, this is a great tutorial, but unless you have access to a JDM/EDM stereo fascia with intact A/C vents; DON'T DO THIS. USDM vents DO NOT FIT. You will wind up with 2 ugly, gaping holes in your dash, that is going to cost you a minimum of $150 to fill them with the proper sized and imported AC Vents. I just UNDID my 9 inch headunit and ac relocation for a stock set up with a true single din android stereo, and it looks 1,000 times better.

    Hi Jon, Just discovered your channel last week. Great content and delivery, keep it up👍. You mentioned you have done the ek9 climate control swap twice now, do you have any guides you have previously used to do it? I have seen a few but they all vary, some say you need to change the dash pad bar and take the whole dash out, others say you need to change the heater box, others dont. Your way sounds the simplest (and I have all the parts you mentioned) so just wondering where you got your info from before I give it a go myself? Thanks for your time.

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  2 года назад +1

      Thanks mate! Appreciate the feedback
      I know it is different depending on what country you are in due to what comes with the different models. I agree there are no good conversion guides (in Australia). A mate helped me import the harness and motors from an EK9 in the Philipines. He was extremely helpful so i didn't need any guides. It was also completely plug and play apart from the centre vent modification.
      I can say for certain FOR AUS MODELS
      1) Dash pad bar (you mean the dash support frame)? Not necessary to change
      2) Heater box. Not necessary to change. I believe the blower box motor and the solenoids are a straight swap over with no modifications needed.
      3) You will need to take the whole dash out to modify the vent which sits behind the skin of the dash. If you cannot source an EK9 centre vent, you will need to modify the existing centre vent (I used AC vent tape from the local hardware store). It's ghetto but worked
      Good luck!

    Do you find it difficult to operate the climate control unit? I noticed in some other videos that the moving lever from cold to hot gets more stiff maybe because the cable is stretched. Has this been the same for you or does it operate as normal?

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  Год назад

      Hi mate
      It is not difficult but firmer than factory. It is definitely firmer in other videos as they have not cut and modified the cable. So take note the way i modified the cable and you won't have a problem. The slider controls the opening of a valve between the heaterbox and the cylinder head. Hope this helps!

      Are you trying to remove the switch by itself? The switches cannot separate from the housing from the front and you'll need to remove them together with the housing. A trim removal tool will help reduce the scratching. If it's been on there for a while it'll need some force to come off. Gently pry the housing towards you and you can move around the housing and wedge a flat head in there to keep the switch from locking back onto the fascia. Hope that helps
