Thanks for the detailed review, I have one on order being built right now!
Great review as always. Thanks
I love the looks of this car, I have Sophisto Grey and in this color I enjoy the front of it
100% agree with every compliment and criticism. Although I am not as offended by the looks as everyone seems to be. I think it looks nicer than a Tesla model X. And I like that it's different than the model Y because those things are EVERYWHERE. The price is definitely on the outrageous side, but after watching some background on the engineering and manufacturing of the IX, over on Savagegeese, it seems like maybe the price isn't *that* far off. I think BMW probably should have priced it lower and taken the hit on profits, just to prove the concept en masse. Because if this thing was priced closer to an EV9, I think it would have flown off showroom floors.
we have almost the exact same spec as this. Absolutely amazing car. We must have one more option package as ours has the crystal seat adjuster knobs, rear heated seats, and our center console has the wood instead of piano black. Also ours has soft close on the front doors so don't get that annoying window rattle if you use it correctly. For the back of the front seats that little door is for some accessories you can get. There are hanger options, even iPad mounts. Trust me I drive a 2024 model Y and there may be somethings on paper that may seem similar between them, there is no comparison other than they are both EV's and can seat 5 people. Now at nearly half the price given today's pricing you can't be too hard on the MY as for the money it is very well appointed and the tech is great.
Owner of a 2024 and in agreement of pros and cons. I would go further to say I am one of the people whos car has been seen in the BMW Service Department (and has been denied a buyback from BMW NA) about 10 times now because of "cheap plastic" / Build quality issues I would call it. Both front door interior panels complete replacement due to buzzing and rattling that no insulation could handle. Back D-pillar having to be addressed 3 times that came along later. A 100k vehicle should never have issues like this. The last time I picked up the vehicle, July 1st, and mind you this has been a 7 month chase, I told them I'm emotionally checked out. A vehicle you want to love but $100k for cut out features that are pretty STANDARD to cars 30k less.
For the door sound, I agree 100%
I chose the soft close option for my doors because I didn't like the sound of them. The soft close feature handled this issue nicely.
Mixed experience with the one my dad had as a loaner. Sounded like there was a seal leak with the roof glass as we could both hear a high-pitch whistle coming from above the front passenger seat. The doors also rattled on close like crazy, no matter the window height, which is just nuts for this price.
As far as the interior of something like the X5 vs this. The traditional buyers of X5's are waaay to conservative to ever be ok with an interior like that, too many things done differently. Putting out a car like this that's outside of the normal naming convention, even if it is functionally an electric X5, allowed them to try things and get a feel for what the customers will let them get away with.
I like it, but when we drove one at Electrify Expo my wife was.........less enthused lol. Although that one had the "crystal" for the idrive wheel and the seat adjustments, I think she'd be more ok with this spec.
Also, you forgot to mention the neat way the car can wash the rear and forward facing cameras!
The beaver teeth are not as noticeable when you see the beaver out in the wild
Angry Beaver
00:10 hahahahahah
Wait…I thought you didn’t like PPF and don’t see the value in it?
The only thing about what BMW looks like that I notice is that it's strange that they have blinkers equipped because I never see them used
not using the blinker is not a BMW privilege, but an American! I just gor back from Europe, everybody using the turn signal for turns and lane changes. Over here, regardless of the car brand, people are just to lazy to use their turn signal!
Owner here; Excellent review as always. Don't disagree with any of your criticisms, I would bring up the same nitpicks (we did not share thoughts before Coleton filmed this.)
Used under $60,000
BMW quality is first rate these days! 🤩
I hate frameless window
Same. I had an IX loaner while my car was being serviced, and the door sound stood out. Sounded cheap in an overall well-built vehicle.
Funny, our last Mercedes fell apart and had torture racks for seats, while our CyberTruck is the finest vehicle we have ever owned, on every possible count. I was on bumpy AF Arizona 93 for hours today marvelling at the near-perfect suspension and supeb noise damping. Zero build issues. Perfect panel gaps. Stunning accelleration. Awesome stereo, etc etc etc etc
But some dumb F in his mom's basement is going to say some ignorant 💩 😂
Hello Colton do you prefer IX or Etron in terms of quality and quietness?
E-Tron is still one of the best built EV’s and unbelievably quiet. Considering you can pick up a low mileage one sub $35,000 it’s a hard car to ignore.
The new Q8 Etron vs the iX, I think the iX edges it out in every category… But it’s much more expensive from my memory
