Picked up a 2024 IX recently and love it! Sure didn't like the price, but can definitely tell the difference between Bmw and Tesla. First you talk about the frunk but honestly I don't think ppl are saying man my rear space is packed I wish I had a frunk 😅 Secondly looks are subjective and I've actually ran into more ppl that like the design than those who don't, including the grill. Tech in the IX kills the Tesla, and umm, has Tesla got apple and Android Auto yet? 🙄 To say the Y competes better with the Ix, imo is incorrect as your comparison was based on 5 seats and the way the doors open? The X has 3 row seats sure but that doesn't compare to any other 3 row vehicle so it is still closer to a 5 seater. Plus it compares closer in price. Did you say the Y cuz it makes your price point difference stand out more? 😅 Lastly everybody and their mom has a tesla as they all are just slightly different styles of each other... Dare to be different lol 😉
It is slower, costlier, uglier and charger network isn’t even close to Tesla’s. And as a prior BMW owner, I would never buy that overpriced- again the same thing here, junk - unreliable too
All of this… the m60 is 610 HP the range says 310, it’s usually more. It’s actual luxury. And would compare better with the model X. Heated and cooled and massage seats. Integrated audio. Interior and exterior cameras. The feature list is insane and skipped over so often. I wish someone would actually do this comparison without a bias.
As someone who’s looking for the ultimate isolation / relaxation car, I really like iX, and Tesla are far from quiet and comfortable. However, I had a hard time justifying the premium over an Ioniq 5. The iX is def nicer, but not much. The biggest drawback of the Ioniq is the poor range and horrible audio.
Never once missed CarPlay in my Tesla. Coming from a current BMW owner with CarPlay. The Tesla system is just as good try it for yourself before you comment
I bought an iX - I could not live with Tesla quality and poor software (auto wipers, parking sensors) Front trunk - I had one in my first EV and never used it
End of the day the interior is the most important aspect tesla has 0 luxury and doesnt feel special. I love the look of the iX way more. Looks retro and futuristic. The model X looks like a mini van and the model Y looks like a frog and an egg

As someone who happily owns two Teslas (a model 3 performance and a Model x) and a BMW IX 50, I can tell you the pros and cons of each dispassionately: BMW Pros: 1.Much better build quality ....better paint, fit and finish, panel gaps, fewer rattles, etc. you feel that you are in a luxury car. 2) quietness - the BMW is MUCH quieter than any Tesla. 3.) More available luxury items like radiant heating 4w steering, HUD, Bowers and Wilkins, massage, etc. 4.)Possibly nicer interior. Most people will consider the interior of the BMW to be more luxurious although that depends somewhat on the choice of upholstery. Between the Sensatech and the Tesla Vegan seats, its a wash. The BMW leather seats are phenomenal, and the microfiber is unique 5) Much smoother ride with 2 axle air suspension and 6) better turning radius with 4w steering. Model X pros: 1) Much better use of space, better trunk space plus a frunk...the BMW trunk is a joke. 2) Much better and FREE for life phone key experience as well as most options that cost money on the BMW (e.g., ventilated seats, rear seat heating). 3) Less maintenance (BMW still wants to charge you for regular maintenance on an EV) and 4) slightly better autopilot, though BMW is close, 5) much quicker (although the BMW is pretty quick), 6) better powertrain warranty. Bmw's powertrain warranty is 4yr/50k, 7) better charging infrastructure for road trips, 7) Cheaper, even without rebates.
As a German in Berlin, I can tell you no respectful German is buying the ugly ix bmw. The performance model y is selling 10time more by native Germans. The assface grille of recent bmw is kind of a running joke here.
IX's real-world range always goes above 360 miles and not 324 as advertised. Can you say the same for tesla model y? I dont think so. I have seen many videos where teslas are getting 15% less range than advertised
When I heard the IX was on it's way and pricing was starting at $80K, 9:30 that was my deal breaker. Would rather have a Rivian R1S for the price of an IX.
After a lot of analysis, I bought a BMW iX and am completely happy with it - it has excellent quality, technology and comfort. I was initially very keen on Tesla and am still not against it, but in the end I could not accept the looks of any Tesla beside the model S (this may be a European vs USA thing, but to me the model Y looks like a pope mobile). Then again, Tesla provide simply too few choices for interior designs, where BMW excels with premium quality interior materials and colors. Also, Tesla continue to be behind on overall build quality, how all the parts fit in together. BMW does an excellent build that includes premium materials - in the iX they even put a significant amount of carbon fiber.
@@TommyLGaragethe range of the xdrive 40 is about 420 km which is enough for me. The xdrive 50 can drive over 600km on one charge, which is plenty but also the price is higher then.
Teslas are the new Toyota Camery of the auto industry. I live in Seattle,Wa and at least 12 people in my subdivison own a white teslas. And who needs a frunk? Personally I never seen anyone use it. I just bought a 2024 BMW iX and ive been getting so many complients on the styling.
I write about quality and durability, between these brands I have a BMW iX and my neighbor has a TMY and he says never again tezla and a BMW built like a tank
This is like comparing Wrx Sti with E class. Model X is definitely the more comparable one. Except the quicker acceleration and the frunk, nothing else beats the IX. Looks is subjective. Bmw built quality is far superior than Tesla.
@@TommyLGarage I actually have both. An iX M60 and a model Y. Tesla beats the iX in software and autonomy but that’s about it. Surprisingly i almost never use the frunk (neither does my wife). In fact most EVs don’t have one. It is nice to have though

My wife and I own both an Ioniq 5 and an iX and the luxury factor makes a huge difference. The Ioniq is probably more comparable to the model y and gets supreme ratings across the board. But for luxury features and if you’ve ever owned a luxury vehicle, there is no comparison. I expect that the model x and s are closest to the iX in luxury features.
I agree. After owning many BMW M vehicles I now have a Model Y Performance that is simply all around a great driving technical wonder. To me the MYP with an BMW like M Sport package would be worth a premium price. The IX is not as attractive as say the BMW X5 M Sport for the same price.
@TommyLGarage if we think your way of comparing then no Tesla can be compared any luxury vehicle either from Germany or America. Starting with, NO HUD, NO front camera, NO realistic 3D view, NO real leather seat, No CarPlay or Android Auto support, Noisy interior, substandard material for interior, poor range vs advertised, does not detect stopped emergency vehicle, high contrast situation fools Tesla camera, etc. If we go for FSD, rated very poor in Consumer Report because it is not safe since does not monitor driver properly while GM, Ford, BMW has 100% hands free driving. Mercedes gets Level 3 approval. While IX has 100% hands free driving upto 85 miles Tesla FSD needs hands on the wheel always. Tesla FSD is not approved in Europe because it does not meet the standard. Too many recalls, average 13+ per year recorded and not recorded not counted. Considering these no Tesla vehicle can come close to any luxury vehicles.
I would have the IX any day a vehicle with out heads up display that is a deal-breaker I actually like the front of the BMW the beaver teeth don't bother me but what would bother me is getting into a car and all you have is a tablet in the middle of the dash no Tesla for me

Driving the iX or the Mercedes EQS are so smooth and comfortable that it make my model s feel cheap in comparison. The tech in the BMW iX and Mercedes Benz EQS are far superior. Head up display, 360 cameras, Apple car play, massage seats, the self driving feature also work better and are much smoother than the Tesla. Not sure why people keep saying Tesla have better tech. Maybe they have quicker screen and definitely better public charging but that’s it. In terms of looks that all subjective. Drive all the cars for a day or two before making your own decision.

Bottom line for 30,000 to 50,000 more the IX is not worth that price ( 80,000 to 110,000 when you can get Tesla Y with more range for 55,000 you pay a lot more for just for looks inside
The Y cannot compete with the iX, except maybe in highway range, the LR and the xDrive50 are close enough, but let's pay some tribute to what Tesla is proposing for half the price. And the Y is considerably shorter in length, hence easier to fit in small parking slots in Europe while giving more storage than the iX. It's a great deal and I do not agree that it is a throwable car that will look like trash after 5 years. Well treated S and X still look good after 6+ years. To me, the best reason to pay double the price is on the ergonomy. I do not want to just have 1 central display with a few buttons on the wheel, no heads up display. That plus the finish level of the interior.
The iX is far superior to all Teslas. I’m sitting in my Models and there is nothing special about it. Test drive an iX last week and I can tell you the comfort and quality is EXTREMELY brilliant. The tech is far superior in the BMW, head up display, 360 camera, massage seats and better auto pilot. It’s subjective what look you prefer. I personally like the look of the iX but the interior is where is really shine Price is irrelevant as you wouldn’t compare the iX to the lowly model Y. It’s comparable to the model X which I have also driven. If you’re interested in cars in this price range go and test drive them Before you draw conclusions Just don’t drive or sit inside the BMW i7 because that’s a good whole level above. Only Rolls Royce or Maybach can compete There

Most Tesla drivers come from Hondas or other non premium car manufacturers. Tesla finish and quality is way subpar and not considered premium. The IX is definitely a winner , you cant really compare Teslas vs BMW, since BMW are luxury and the Teslas are not.
As a German i must say that Tesla has way better Technology. Not just the Software but also the efficiency (because of the heating system and the motor battery systems) sure it does not have the same interior quality as BMW but still overall Tesla is better. There is simply noting with that power to price ratio for 55k if you want something better you have to spend at least 100 k from BMW or Mercedes (and i am not talking about some BYD (Chinese cheap cars) or rivian (start up car that costs up to 70k in Germany) that brands are simply not comparable to BMW or Mercedes neither Tesla quality wise). People flock to Tesla because it is super affordable and technology standpoint compared to other EV’s. But as time progresses other brands are catching up or even surpassing Tesla in some aspects. I constantly hear or read Tesla owners non-stop complaining about Tesla vehicles, either the car itself or the service. But at the end of the day people suck it up and stand behind Tesla solely because it’s low cost of ownership. Boils down to if you want cheap, you’ll get cheap. If you want high quality, you’ll pay for it. As EV’s stands today, I’ll get Audi EV or BMW EV over Tesla.
Leased the 2021 Tesla MY before and now leasing the 2025 iX, no where the MY can compare close to the iX. You really get what you pay for period. Actual range, local or long distance MY no where near the iX at all. Obviously you don’t drive the iX long enough to make the comparisons. Starting 2025 BMW EVs can starting using superchargers.
The only thing you can't beat Tesla is its charging infrastructure and its cheaply built quality. Software updates is top in Tesla. Elon built Tesla on futuristic approach, other EV manufacturers use common sense approach based on a car functionality.
Traded my YP for the BMW IX. Tesla does not hold the candle to the BMW. This EV is truly amazing. I never used my frunk and if I did … would not be a deal breaker. This EV runs circles around Tesla. ❤
I gave my Tesla away to my sister, wont ever buy that again. The Seattle guy is right, its the electric Toyota. Here in Dallas they are Everywhere. Driving the Mach-E right now, looking at moving on to the this BMX next. I had my Tesla for about 4 yrs...i used that frunk maybe 9 times. Dont buy it for that.
Tesla built quality is shit, seen/drove one Tesla x with 150k miles its interior falling apart. Front axle vibration is another “quarks” and features well known for every Tesla owner.😂 least forget road noise

The iX is way nicer and much more like a car! The Tesla Y as they say it a great software in a mediocre car. Much more comparable with the tesla X model
As a fan of BMW and X5 owner. Would never buy iX it looks alone is very ugly. The fluffy interior is very tacky. Id buy Mercedes EQ or Tesla Y Performance instead.

Most Tesla drivers come from Hondas or other non premium car manufacturers. Tesla finish and quality is way subpar and not considered premium. The IX is definitely a winner , you cant really compare Teslas vs BMW, since BMW are luxury and the Teslas are not.

As a German i must say that Tesla has way better Technology. Not just the Software but also the efficiency (because of the heating system and the motor battery systems) sure it does not have the same interior quality as BMW but still overall Tesla is better. There is simply noting with that power to price ratio for 55k if you want something better you have to spend at least 100 k from BMW or Mercedes (and i am not talking about some BYD (Chinese cheap cars) or rivian (start up car that costs up to 70k in Germany) that brands are simply not comparable to BMW or Mercedes neither Tesla quality wise).

People flock to Tesla because it is super affordable and technology standpoint compared to other EV’s. But as time progresses other brands are catching up or even surpassing Tesla in some aspects. I constantly hear or read Tesla owners non-stop complaining about Tesla vehicles, either the car itself or the service. But at the end of the day people suck it up and stand behind Tesla solely because it’s low cost of ownership. Boils down to if you want cheap, you’ll get cheap. If you want high quality, you’ll pay for it. As EV’s stands today, I’ll get Audi EV or BMW EV over Tesla.

Leased the 2021 Tesla MY before and now leasing the 2025 iX, no where the MY can compare close to the iX. You really get what you pay for period. Actual range, local or long distance MY no where near the iX at all. Obviously you don’t drive the iX long enough to make the comparisons. Starting 2025 BMW EVs can starting using superchargers.

The only thing you can't beat Tesla is its charging infrastructure and its cheaply built quality. Software updates is top in Tesla. Elon built Tesla on futuristic approach, other EV manufacturers use common sense approach based on a car functionality.

Traded my YP for the BMW IX. Tesla does not hold the candle to the BMW. This EV is truly amazing. I never used my frunk and if I did … would not be a deal breaker. This EV runs circles around Tesla. ❤

I gave my Tesla away to my sister, wont ever buy that again. The Seattle guy is right, its the electric Toyota. Here in Dallas they are Everywhere. Driving the Mach-E right now, looking at moving on to the this BMX next. I had my Tesla for about 4 yrs...i used that frunk maybe 9 times. Dont buy it for that.

Tesla built quality is shit, seen/drove one Tesla x with 150k miles its interior falling apart. Front axle vibration is another “quarks” and features well known for every Tesla owner.😂 least forget road noise

@@TommyLGarage yes I had, took it to my cottage and back 150 miles one way. don’t get me wrong it’s comfy ride but road noise, understeering , cheap materials killing me. Considering price point.

As a fan of BMW and X5 owner. Would never buy iX it looks alone is very ugly. The fluffy interior is very tacky. Id buy Mercedes EQ or Tesla Y Performance instead.
