interior design team should design the exterior
Appreciate your reviews 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼❤️❤️❤️
I love the interior and mostly I like the exterior. I think this may be BMWs best offering. The interior is way ahead of most of their other cars except maybe the new i7. It seems extremely quiet and it's just very impressive.
BMW interiors are YEARS behind their competitors
@@jonhaze7537 really and how?
@@Troy-fv9uq they stole almost all of their interior design from Mercedes lmao
All? The only thing I see that looks anything close to a mercedes is the screen and in the mercedes the screen is not curved
Loving the comment about the front end, nice video !
Bro I love your videos
Hi Topher, a fun ride, the closest I will get to actually driving one of these beasts. I will be taking my 2017 Camry LE on a Target run after lunch...
Really an amazing car. Can't wait for the future.
What I like even more than the iX xDrive5 - is your Omega Speedmaster. Classic and excellent timepiece.
looks have grown on me a lot, the grille isn’t any bigger than any other big suvs tbh
love the video
It is very quiet indeed, it's very Rolls Royce-like in terms of that.
To an extent, all the great reviews like this one are academic because availability is non-existent. I was at a BMW dealer yesterday, and they had one iX and one i4 (both demos that were now sold). Sales guy said the list of orders is crazy long with delivery estimates well into 2023 and beyond. There wasn’t even anything to test drive, not that it matters.
Very true, I use Topher's reviews as a replacement for window shopping because it's virtually impossible to do at dealerships right now.
It’s not just BMW, a lot of car manufacturers just don’t have the inventory right now.
A
Is there’s anything available used cause there seems to be plenty in the uk
Took delivery of an iX xDrive 50 for my wife last weekend. It is a brilliant vehicle and does everything and more that my wife needs, Bake off between a Taycan 4s and the iX, and the iX won. We love it.
Great BMW, in- and outside!
Not sure how I feel about the grille on the BMW 9 (IX)
Tyre hitting the imperfections noise. Some more insulation is required. either it is the vibration from the hitting or sound insulation from wheel wells
It is beautiful, were riding inside don't care what people say they probably couldn't buy one.
Just need that grill to go, is have been the third wheel between the car and bmw fan😅. The exterior is godly good.

Agreed, slow digital speedos bother me on so many different levels, i wish everyone would follow Tesla and Dodge on having real time speedo updates, if i had to guess its likely todo with traction slip, people might get freaked out if their speedo instantly jumps to 40mph in the snow lol
on a side note have you tried to get a Plaid Model S/X? ive heard that those are insanely quite aswell with the double pane glass and special tires they have.
Hello, you wonderful people, and Topher.
I've been spec'ing an X5 M50 recently, turns out to be also around $100k, which similar to an iX. And next year, it's gonna have the S68 engine.
If I had 100k to spend on a car, do I want the S68, or a large pack of batteries? Would the S68 hold its value slightly better?
What about ride quality? From this video, it looks like the ride quality is similar to a RR sport, if I'm not mistaken. So smoother than the X5 I'm guessing?
Lastly, please wish me luck on my lottery ticket.
Kind regards
15:23 nice 👍👍👍 my music 🎶
Cracks me up they spent software engineering hours to reflect the wheels/doors moving on the screen
Why theres no Option for 31 inch SCREEN???
It is funny that so many of the RUclips testers are hung up in the design of the grill. In many cases the grill is what defines the brand. When you see a Rolls Royce,Alfa Romeo, Audi or Mercedes coming towards you they are easily recognizable. Some of the soap bar cars are not. This year the Chinese brand Hongqi was introduced to the Norwegian market with its H9 model. When you see it coming you instantly think of Rolls Royce. The Cullinan to be precise. It is the grill that gives it that RR look. It is a big and luxurious EV and the chief designer behind it is the same as for the Cullinan. I got an iX myself and think the whole car is futuristic and good looking. For the most part I agree with the testers opinion but a few minor things I think is nitpicking. It is interesting to watch these RUclips videos because they sometimes reveal things and features I was not aware of,even though I have read the owners manual from page to page. (It is a bad habit I have.)
the curved display and gear shift "switch" are great on an electric car like this but look terrible in any of their "sports" cars
does anyone else think Tesla is in trouble as the legacy automakers that most regular customers are used to start making more compelling EV options. I owned a Telsa Model X and model 3 that I sold in under a year, they had Poor quality relative to the price and took forever at superchargers.
There will be competition but no other brand will be able to produce the number of pure EV's that Tesla can and make around a 30% profit per car. We're already seeing that many of the Legacy auto companies are announcing new models but they are not producing them because they are losing money on each one they build.
@@sg618342 The 30% profit is because the build quality just isn't there. They need to focus on quality more, even if it cuts into profits. I was a Tesla fan even after multiple test drives, but then I rented one for a day and I got all the rattles that people talk about, and the road noise at highway speed was the loudest I've ever experience in any car. The battery was also on its last leg, barely running 100 miles per full charge, and the rental car was a current year model. Granted other renters might have really dogged it, but that doesn't give me any confidence in Tesla's quality either way. Its at least a 50/50 chance you'll get a poorly crafted Tesla.
pan windows?
Hey Topher, Drove a BLUE one at a Recent BMW Ultimate Drive Experience BMW brought to my area. Enjoyed the IX immensely. I actually LIKE the enlarged Kidney Grill and blown away by the puts you back in your seat POWER it has. Hold on to that steering wheel when you floor it...WOW. The interior is quite inviting and futuristic too!!!
Ps. That Bowers & Wilkins sound Experience was pretty cool...YES put on your ear buds.
My boss he have black and white of IX BMW one for his wife which is white and black one is for him... It's awesome.. 👌😍🖤💕
Can’t stand the exterior styling, specifically the front end, but I do appreciate the creativity in interior colors and material choices. I’ll give them that.
Interesting, I have a 2020 Model X Plaid and I´ve driven Porche, Lexus, Lamborgini Urus and other high end SUVs and the Plaid is by far the best drive experience, but I would like to know why do you feel that BMW makes a Model X feels like a tin can? good review btw
Lmao. Theres no way u have driven a new porsche suv and said the model X feels better too drive. I drove a model x test drive and it had none of the driving dynamics or feedback u would want to experience when in a car
But they have that same technology in the Toyota Venza for thousands less…
Looks like an airport transport vehicle.
BMW tried a Nissan Leaf neo. Attempted the Japanese design elements and it's kind of ended up utilitarian rather than modern. have neither the Japanese techno vibe nor European elegance. Mdel X is better in design. Acura is coming with Precision EV
Id love for automakers to normalize putting cloth in luxury cars.
bmw ix3 pls ? +1 SUB
"not terribly heavy"
biggest cope I've ever heard literally and figuratively
Looks like an electric minivan minus a few seats
Who the hell would choose a Tesla Plaid over this
@14:35 Passing on the inside line is not only illegal but super dangerous
Nationally, its not illegal in the US, which I'm assuming is where this is filmed. Of course, some states might have different laws.
@@necival85 Most states follow the Uniform Vehicle Code and require drivers to keep right if they are going slower than the normal speed of traffic. There are variations among states but only 3 states have no specific requirement with regards to passing lanes. So, in summary, in most US states it’s illegal.
Give me a break! You’re telling me you’ve never passed on the right?
The interior looks great and I don't care about the beaver looks because it's an ev not an M3! I wouldn't care about the exterior let's be honest Tesla look like blobs.
why does every new car have to look like a shoe?
Been driving a 2014 X5 for the last 8 years. I was excited to go discover the iX. What a disappointment with the interior! It looks and feels cheaply built. The central console is not ergonomic and the crystal nob... I will have to switch brand.
I really dislike what BMW is doing with their design lately, they had a chance to fix the front end design with the electric models but chose to keep the pig snout for some unknown reason.
Agreed I’d rather see the smaller nostrils on this although I think the m4 doesn’t look bad.
It's actually butt cheeks. BMW believes their customers will buy it even if the designer literally imprints their ass on it's face.
@@WillMoon 💀don’t give them ideas
If you're wrong for long enough people stop telling you about it.
Love your videos but the new BMW's are hideous. This does not look like a luxury suv it looks like something Hyundai would have done with the original Excels back in the 80's minus the screens of course.
LMAO you're clueless. This car is the definition of luxury. Hyundai? There's more road noise in the best Hyundai on sale at 30 mph than on this BMW at 130 mph.
@@derbigpr500 IG F/L has less road noise than any BMW sedans 60mph and GN7 will be more impressive.
@@derbigpr500 Nobody is talking about how the car drives. OP is talking about how the car looks like ass and nothing in your comment is even slightly about that. 17:41
explain what about paint test bumps sounding like explosions is "shockingly quiet". Literally any economy car would keep paint test bumps from sounding like literal explosions, but in this fat ass BMW toaster it sounds like a 50 browning machine gun.
This series of ix is exactly what’s wrong with ev and why I will never buy one from bmw unless they change, first off they are deliberately making the exterior to look different , when will car manufacturers get it we don’t want them to look different, it’s just another way to propel along the road the same way diesel or petrol can be slotted into the same , that interior design is 70’s retro that is extremely polarising, again bmw follow Mercedes’ by not allowing users to open and do basic maintenance work for themselves, and why oh why do they feel we need to change the door opening , there is zero reason a mechanical lock /handle cannot be used, it’s just another switch that will break down, this is up there with vw Id series that could be great but is ruined by daft decisions.
Beautiful interior, Ugly AF exterior, which is my general opinion about all new BMWs...
I don't get BMW lately. Nobody likes the grills yet more models are coming out with them. SUVs are 60% of BMW sales yet we just get the expensive iX & XM and not the good looking, affordable iX1 & iX3. Every review of last years' BMWs loves the physical buttons, so BMW eliminates them across the product line. Ugh! I feel the iX is like the Pontiac Aztec, a perfect committee designed car that everyone hates!
Good god it's ugly. Kidney bean's gotta go. I like the color though.
It's just .... SO... UGLY... *cringe*

I don't know about the interior. No leather, all weird hipster materials for the door cards and dashboard. Very few buttons and no center dash. No class or luxury at all.
Nice to see i'm not the only one who finds the interior rather ugly. Excessive minimalism is not something to applaud at.
imo leather will die off way before ICE vehicles. I can't even think of an EV that uses leather currently, most of them are using their own type of synthetic materials. Especially on EVs, since a lot of early EV adopters are eco-conscious. Leather is super bad for the environment. 80% of the deforestation that is happening in the Amazon is caused by cattle ranching linked to making leather for the luxury brands. Leather making process also dumps lots of toxic chemicals and uses very large amounts of water. As veganism is growing year by year, many consumers are coming to dealerships asking for leather-free interiors.
100k yeah no thanks 👍
Its so damn ugly
Weird origami shapes and odd colors. I appreciate BMW taking some chances, but this overstyled nonsense doesn't mean it's attractive. Hyundai does design better. They take risks too, but the result is more attractive. And cheaper. By 10's of thousands.
too bad the cars performance doesn't match the looks
sht the grill looks ugly to me
This interior looks terrible.
I like Tesla better
Who’s buying a Tesla over this bmw is better then Tesla
BMW the poo poo
