I’ve been a DeLorean owner for almost 25 yrs. In those 25 yrs I’ve tried every cleaner out there. The best products to use is that liquor keepers friend to wash after an initial car wash for stains. Then don’t use Windex. Windex gives more of a dark dull look to the SS. Is Invisible glass cleaner. It works way better than Windex and gives more of a shine and less of a smear. Also never use any oil base polish. It will evaporate unevenly and will also draw dust and dirt like a magnet.
I'm ordering one of those Random Orbital Polishers for sure. Just spent the last 2 hours doing this process by hand on my Cybertruck. It's EXTREMELY effective. I only had 'rust' on my hood, all other panels were fine. But damn this process of BKF/Windex is awesome. Looks incredible! Thanks!!!
@@samhickman3813 looks good, it takes a lot of time I found. I used this in conjunction with another Amazon product named Citri Surf 77. Use the bar keepers first to loosen the material. Then use the 77. Then wash and dry. Looks amazing after that. I would wear gloves due to the chemicals. Overall looks great did it a month ago and little fade.
That’s exactly what I use to clean my SS kitchen appliances after nearly a decade of neglect. I’ve found that a regular wipe down with windex is all I need to keep them clean. But barkeepers friend cleaned off years of smudges, fingerprints and grime. Lots of water, gentle rubbing with the sponge side of a blue scrubber with just a bit of cleanser, thorough rinsing with wet rag, and then final cleaning with windex. Perfection!
Thanks, Colton .. I used your "cleaning" method, to rejuvenate my SS garage cabinet countertop. I used my Mirka polisher, with a Rupes yellow pad. Worked like a charm. The Rupes pad cleaned up, with just soap and water. The 3 microfiber towels I used, went into the garbage.
I tried this on my new truck. It works well. My rookie mistake was using too much bar keepers friend, which is hard to remove (but it does remove all of the hard stains). I think I will try a non-orbital sander next time with much less cleaner.

Id also like to know the answer to this. Tesla specifically tells you NOT to use an abrasive as does the DIY Detail website where he gets the ceramic coating. Can you please speak to the abrasiveness and scratch potential here?
Since those oxidation spots are stubborn and somewhat dark, I'm curious if there's a way to give in to it and just oxidize the entire body for a consistent and smooth effect sorta like gun blue.
While watching your very first Cybertruck detailing video a while ago - I catched myself thinking why did not You use Kitchen Stainless steel cleaner ? ! You should also try Mister Muscle kitchen FAT removal spray - like for ovens and exhausts.- this one also works great on stainless kithen surfaces.
I saw some users say while it looked lighter, it took away the reflection and made it look cloudier and more matte finish. I think maybe some people won’t like it. Plus tesla is saying not to use windows as prolonged use damages the finish.
@@AR-rn8okThe CT does have a matte finish though...its not a glossy finish...it could be hard to tell in video but in this video the barkeeper and Windex worked very well.. plus the CT has no clear coat on the stainless steel so you really could polish to whatever finish you personally prefer.
I'm guessing that while the "official" cleaner makes it a bit orange, that finish likely at least looks consistent for longer periods of time between cleanings. Your method looks GREAT, but likely requires a lot more upkeep.
Since Tesla's manual advises against BKF, can you let us know what damage or negatives it could cause? I am VERY inclined to use it and your work is amazing but is there potential to do it "wrong" aside from leaving it on too long or not using the windex base? In other words, what would be a common reason they recommend using abrasives such as BKF? (which indeed IS an abrasive)
Take a look at the Everbrite metal coating kit for CyberTruck. I saw a vid a few days ago and it seems like it is the way to protect your Cybertruck finish. Fingerprint marks like all but eliminated.
I put Everbrite on mine. It works well but there are a few things you need to know to get it right. First off you need to put multiple coats each super thin. If you do it thick it will not come out nice. Also I found that the suede applicators work, but that can have issues. To fix it I found that if you get, one of my favorite things from Amazon, AA cleanroom cloth wipes double knit 100% polyester with ultra fine filaments, laser sealed edge class 100 wipes. Wrap the suede applicator with a clean room wipe. Use that to apply the Everbrite in a super thin coat. Let it dry and keep applying until all the rainbow sections are gone. It will be super nice. There is another issue you should know. The Everbrite scratches and some chemicals will eat at it. If that happens just get your applicator with the wipe on it and just touch up that one spot. It will fix it in one quick wipe. If it's really bad you can use acetone to clean off one spot and redo it you don't need to strip the whole panel. Overall I really like Everbrite, but it does take a small about of care. Oh side not the AA clean room wipes are excellent for cleaning optics gear like camera lenses. Use the wipe last to finish cleaning a camera lens and it will look new.
