If i recall, some people actually counted how many times Mista shoots himself throughout the series and it was in the mid-40s (either 43 or 46. not sure). He's taken more (of his) bullets than all the other characters in the entirety of Part5 combined.
"That's only if we steal one car. But if we steal a hundred, it won't be easy for them to find which one we're in!" is honestly one of my favorite lines in fiction in general, and certainly in Jojo's. God, I love Golden Wind.

That moment when you realize that despite Giorno's horrific childhood and upbringing, he had never cried until Narancia died.

@@dylanbruce2961 spoil? That was the power of Giorno finding a real purpose and friends to share it with. He never cried as a child because those whondid him wrong meant that little to him. It makes Narancia's death that much more tragic, and the journey's end more satisfying.
I think it was because narancia was someone nearly his age and someone who had a full dream and future ahead of him.

@@fubu72 Probably over time the tissue of the fake organs gets replaced with real cells. Like if the body was slowly gaining ownership over the organ.
Asking the real questions I see
You see, gold experience is a stand which continuously gives life. Giorno's stand's power to turn something into a living thing doesn't have a range, as proved by the frog / briefcase in episode 1 which came back to him during the fight with luca.
Thus, even if he dies, it's unlikely the life force of giorno's objects are gonna go away, so everything adds up.
More like what the hell happens to Josuke's victims when he dies.

@@IapitusMcHeimer But then when you start the show you'll realise that Giorno doesn't have ger right away and when it gets to the final act, you'll eventually realize you've been spoiled
I immediately figured King Crimson out. I was just like "Oh ok, he's basically just taking panels out of the manga."
That's basically how you would best convey this concept in a comic medium, plan the panels out as if there was something that happened in between two of them and just not draw it.
Like, imagine this: You're reading part 5, Abbacchio is getting off the boat to stop Giorno, you turn to the next page and...
it's completely blank.
...you're confused. You think maybe there was a misprint. You turn to the next page, and abbacchio is already grabbing onto giorno, they are also confused, Abbacchio commenting on how he doesn't remember getting off the boat. and then it clicks. Something happened on that last page, but it's as if it was removed from the book itself...and now...not even the characters are aware of what happened. And you realize this is how the Boss of Passione has kept himself hidden for so many years.
You could probably get away with this with just a single blank panel rather than a whole page, but having a whole page missing would make the effect a lot stronger, at least for it's first occurrence.
@@kobunnight or like a symbol of time skipping or the way the anime depicts time skip by adding a backround which looks like outer space instead of a blank panel but yeah good idea
Here's another way to understand better, imagine life is a movie pause the movie ajd it's time stop, rewind the movie and it's Killer queen bitez za dusto Skip 10 seconds into the movie it's time skip king crimson.
@@kobunnight dude that's fucking brilliant
@@kobunnight Having an entire page blank would make a huge impact, though. Put the blank page on the second page, then flip the page and have it look almost exactly the same, but changed in the way that King Crimson wanted. Awesome.

it’s always been interesting to me that giorno was so unpopular - when i read the manga, part 5 was one of my least favourites due to how complicated and confusing i found it (not helped by the fact that i couldnt find colour scans), but giorno was still my favourite jojo next to jolyne. he’s just so endearing in small ways and his ”timid” personality is very unique when compared to the previous jojos. he’s a really well written and good boi and it’s a shame that he doesn’t get more recognition.
U poor sod. How the hell did you manage to read the Bucchi vs Secco fight in B&W?
@@visibleconfusion782 i have no idea 😭😭😭 i barely knew who was who in the main cast, let alone the villains (couldn't keep track of abbachio and fugo for some reason) 💀💀💀 and bc the whole thing happens in like five days i couldn't understand the plot either...... i was just very confused during vento aureo lol
Yeah , all of the JoJos before Giorno were just reactionary protagonists . Jotaro reacted to Dio awakening and hurting his mother , Josuke reacted to Shigechi's death etc . But Giorno was the one who wanted to change the world in his image and Diavolo just reacted to Giorno challenging his authority . Giorno was like Dio in a way , both of them had great ambition but where Giorno differs from him is that Jonathan's kindness and selflessness and all of the evil things he did was to protect the innocent
I found him irritating, as in the only traits he showed were that he's always right and knows everything and convinces everyone to follow him. I didn't see much more than that in his personality, and the motives he's given in the story felt like they were simply there because they had to, but weren't developed at all. Even his stand felt like it was constantly getting powerups out of nowhere (suddenly in the middle of the story he can heal??), the only consistent rule with it being that he wins in the end, and this extended to the last fight. I might remember it wrong (it's been three years) but it felt really anticlimactic when he just digivolved and trapped Diavolo in an endless hell of death.
@@MechanicalRabbits that's fair, but iirc giorno teams up with the rest of the gang far more often than other jojos - to me it felt less like "giorno's winning all the time" and more like "the bucciarati team managed to win this time too".
(probably helps that i also dont really care about the plot making sense, as long as it's fun and easy to follow... giorno creating body parts seemed like a natural step so it didn't upset me, and when i read the manga i genuinely couldn't understand the last ~twenty chapters. lol. in retrospect i think i might've read the fanlations)
giorno always stood out to me for being calm and sometimes a bit cruel and it was a fun change of pace in my mind. i'm glad to hear your perspective though! it's fun to discuss these things, especially when people have different opinions :]

"This is weird" - Jojo in a nutshell
This is bizarre
TBH the reason I got into Jojo was because of Giorno and the piano memes. I've always heard about jojo and seen the memes from the other parts but something about Giorno specifically and his story about becoming a Gang-Star to prevent kids from getting drugs sold to them really stuck out to me. I binged watched all the previous parts despite hearing parts 1 and 2 are a bit boring but I didn't want to skip any of it because I was genuinely interested in the show, not just part 5. I gotta say it was very worth while, although hamon is sometimes not as exciting as stands, it was still very cool especially around part 2. After watching all 5 parts of jojo, I can say I'm really glad I got into it. It's more than just a show and I would really recommend it to people.
BTW Joseph from part 2 became one of my favorite characters, he's so silly and such a cunning bastard 😂
Bruh....I don't know who told you part 2 was boring. It certainly may be irrelevant, since the Pillarmen hold no significance to what happens in any of the following parts, but it still has freaking Tequila Joseph. XD

Kind of a similar criticism, but it's really about the translation in general: Diavolo is supposed to be "Diablo." If you were to spell Diablo in Japanese, it would literally be "Di-a-vo/bo-lo/ro." V/B don't have a sound in Japanese, it's a sound between the two - similar to L/R, similar to F/H (yes, that's also a thing). It's simply a matter of the original official translation not understanding/connecting that the name is Diablo.
That's the thing about Giorno though.
Even though he is the JoJo who least solo fights in the JoJo series, at the same time he's also the one who does the most within his own story out of all of them as he's literally the MVP in every single fight besides Little Feet and Rolling Stones (for obvious reasons). Unlike Jotaro and Josuke who just disappear for a few episodes then come back when it's their time to shine as the MC Giorno is consistenly shining throughout the entire story as the team's unofficial leader and trump card.
He has so much protagonist spotlight but no one seems to notice it because they expect him to work just like the previous protagonists did.
thats true actually. I kinda love that
Yeah exactly why i love him...to me hes best jojo

@gibbdude Let's look at Giorno's contributions one by one starting from when he entered the gang.
*Soft Machine* - Turned Narancia's shoe into a fly so that Soft Machine could be tracked. Giorno also tipped Abbachio and Bruno to Soft Machine's abillity by sacrificing himself.
*Kraftwerk* & *Little Feet* - No Involvement
*Man in the Mirror* - Allowed himself to become infected with the Virus so that he could infect Illuso with it. Also led Fugo to Illuso with the Snake, allowing PH to finish Illuso.
*Greatful Dead* & *Beach Boy* - No Involvement
*Babyface* - Yes
*White Album* - Inspired Mista to "look for the shining path" (Which invariably meant Mista shooting himself to blind Ghiacchio with his blood). Also, Giorno is the one who killed Ghiacchio.
*KC vs. Bruno* - I could a whole rant about this one, with Giorno being the whole reason the gang's at this point ideallistically and physically, but that take too long.
*Clash* & *Talking Head* - Sacrificed himself to Clash so that Narancia could find him.
*Notorious B.I.G* - The whole point of this was for Trish to protect Giorno's Brooch. Bruno also did say that "our hope was loss" when Giorno had both of his hands cut off, which sums up Giorno's importance to the group.
*Metallica* - No Involvement
*Green Day* - muda
*Secco* - No Involvement
*Diavolo* - Banishes him to infinite deaths.
So Giorno was involved in the majority of the fights. Whether that'd be through moral support, finishing the guy off, making a sacrifice, or having his brooch be protected.
@gibbdude Joseph... kinda dominates his own part. Most of the fights are him and his story is centered around him (Ceasar had one fight against an *enemy* for context). Althrough, this does give it more of an Epic feel to it.

My favorite part so far. Apart from all the technical aspects (animation, voice acting, music etc) being really really great, it was the dead seriousness of the situations the crew find themselves in, the antithesis between the relationships of the main cast and the sever-all-bonds mentality of the antagonist, and the fact that Giorno doesn't feel like a protagonist (with Bucciarati moving the plot forward for most of the season), only for the after-credits scene to put it all in perspective (he had one goal, to become the boss, and made it while following a "cause" he could stand behind of), that make part 5 my personal favorite of the anime so far.

It's worth noting that Giorno is the first Jojo to actually have a dream to pursue; the other Jojos before just got roped into taking responsibility of taking down the villain. Jonathan realized that he could use hamon to finish what he started, defeating Dio. Joseph learns that the pillar men will wipe out all of humanity unless he masters hamon and uses it to vanquish them. Jotaro's mother is cursed to die after the reawakening of Dio, so he has to travel all the way to Egypt to defeat the evil vampire lord and prevent her death. Josuke and friends after losing one of their own sought to hunt down Kira and bring him to justice. Giorno, on the other hand, was planning to take down the boss in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a gang star and converting Passione into a respectable mafia that protects the people.

Part 5 is elevated much, much further by Purple Haze Feedback.
By acting as a spinnoff with prequel elements, it basically developes everyone other than Giorno by giving them layers and layers of character, essentially making them more and more human. How Passione was made, why Bruno joined a gang like that, why Fugo is the first one to join Bucciarati, the dynamics between each of them before Giorno, how Giorno became the Jesus for Bruno's Lazarus. And for Giorno, eventhough we say he's half Dio and half Jonathan, but we see the Dio here. We don't have to assume. We feel how others in Bucciarati gang are more human and how Giorno is not human, how he's a monster, but on the side of all that's good and just.
Highly Recommended

Dopio had a normal life, but then he found out his dad wasn't his dad, and his mum wasn't his mum. He freaked out and trying to protect his self of sense he killed his birth mother, I believe after that Diavolo was born as the embodiment of Dopio's fear and anger. Diavolo became paranoid that someone would hurt him again, so he closed himself off.

Fugo's backstory in the anime scrapped one of the most essential parts to any personality disorder story: his grandma being the only person in the world to actually love him, not as a narcissistic extension of herself, but as his own person. In the manga, what really triggers his transformation from calm child prodigy to unstable self-doubting abandoned person was the part where his grandma died and the school didn't let him visit her funeral, causing him to finally unleash his first violent outburst which got him expelled. To me, this feels much deeper, more justified (for both sides), and morally gray than simply "he was sexually assaulted, now let's victim blame him"
That wasn’t in the manga, it was only in Purple Haze Feedback. Fugo’s backstory isn’t shown in the manga, we just get told he beat a professor, it’s never explained why.

I wanna start out by saying that I am immensly grateful to you for your entire "Why You Should Watch Jojo" series. It was that first video that initially got me into Jojo's and your content and presentation remains a gold standard I continously try to to reach.
That being said... I think this might be one of your weakest videos thus far. Part 5 is my favourite, so I was really interested in what you would have to say. And what you do say here is incredible! Relationships as a core concept was something I almost completely missed, your explanation of why King Crimson was so confusing was much needed and your final words on Diavolo were quite moving. But when compared to your other content, this one just really lacks in substance and structure. You didn't really talk about many of the more core themes and ideas to this part like Fate and Destiny, nor did you really go beyond surface level in your assessment of the writing. You even omitted a staple of your Why You Should Watch Videos, the negatives section. All that wouldn't be an issue if this video didn't feel as messy as it unfortunately does. It lacks the flow of your usual stuff and sounds and feels much more like you just jotted down a few things you like and talked about them a bit. Which is FINE in of itself, but when put into the context of this video series, it does fall somewhat short in my opinion. At times, I even found myself wondering if you actually really wanted to make this video or if you were just doing it to continue the series. I can't know your thoughts and feelings behind the scenes obviously and I am not accusing you of that, but that's how it felt to me at times.
Maybe it's because I overhyped it in my head or maybe I'm just projecting as I obv have a lot of thoughts and ideas on this part of my own. But as someone who loves Vento Aureo immensly, I cannot help but feel dissappointed in this.
Much love, and I'm excited for the eventual Part 6 video
Woceaniz
I agree with you. I do like the video but it seemed like their were more things he could have at least mentioned, even if he didn't want to go in depth with them. Also, though quite touching and moving I don't really believe that "fear of relationships" was ever a true motive of Diavolo's actions. It seemed like it was just one less trouble he wanted on his mind, than an actual deep emotional conflict he was struggling with. Also I don't believe Polnareff ever gets enough credit in this part. Everyone calls K.Crimson invincible but seems to forget that he in fact CAN be hurt or possible killed within "Erased Time". Even in a wheelchair Polnareff almost manages to fatally wound Diavolo. I believe a better description is that he "Fast Forwards time" but erases the perception of that time that passed.
Its his own take of golden wind. The theme of relationships went over my head but the fate theme is one I understood immediately.
Fate and destiny has been a theme of every part so far, so I am ok with him skipping over it. Araki has been playing with destiny from the very beginning. Skipping the negatives is a bit harder to let slide, because personally I think the conclusion leaves much to be desired, and I was expecting him to address it. But at the end of the day, it’s more just me forcing my expectation of an analysis on *his* analysis. He did what he did with his other analysis’s here: revealed aspects of the show that make it great that even I didn’t realize after watching it.
maybe he's saving all the fate and destiny talk for part 6...
I've never felt so enlightened after watching someone drink a glass of water.
Oh wait, you don't remember that >:3
I know this was made like 9 months ago, when the anime was fresh outta the oven lol But I just got done watching it again, and I wanted to point out something about Giorno’s character traits that I don’t think a lot of people picked up on in the anime adaptation. This is gonna sound a little biased because of my own experiences but please, try to keep an open mind if you can.
I think Giorno displays a lot of autistic traits (obviously, not in a purposeful way since Araki simply wanted to write a very unique character). I immediately felt connected to his character the first time I watched Part 5 and I was so confused as to why so many people couldn’t connect with him like I did. I read a lot of comments that people made about his character and the one thing that was common in all of their criticisms was that Gio felt too ‘emotionless’ and that he spoke in a very ‘monotone’ way.
All too often, autistic folks are described in that way for our lack of ‘social skills’, which is a whole conversation for another time because I think there’s more nuance to include about that topic. We’re seen as ‘timid’ or ‘emotionless’ or ‘awkward’ because our way of navigating social interactions are unique and different. More often than not, and I don’t think a lot of non-autistic folks realize this, many autistic folks are very empathic and are fully capable of showing compassion towards other people, animals, and the world at large.
I know in my own experience being autistic, I feel so deeply for things that non-autistic people normally wouldn’t hold on to. I’ve cried over giving away an old stuffed animal that I had since I was a kid because it meant something to me on such a deep level that even I was so surprised when I cried over it. Autistic brains keep so many little details in them that when those details are disturbed in a significant way, we have a hard time processing it and then handling it after the fallout.
I think that’s why I resonated so strongly with Gio, and with all the other characters of Part 5. Araki put so much detail into all of their stories and relationships to the point where I can easily recall a character’s catch phrase or musical theme. In my opinion, Giorno specifically stood out to me because all of the little things that make him who he is (his origin story and his personality) remind me of myself in a lot of ways. Or at least, many of the traits that I have.
Like you said, him being a mix of Jonathan (wholly good and a defender of justice) and Dio (vindictive and evil) makes him both a treasured ally and a force to be reckoned with. He believes in doing what’s right and helping those in need while simultaneously not being afraid to tear an enemy’s head off without a second thought. These two sides of him are kind of an extreme example of how ‘internal rules’ work in many autistic brains. We’re often described as having very ‘black and white’ ways of thinking, with very little gray area in between. Obviously, it can depend on the person but this is very common in many autistic folks.
Overall, what I’m getting at is that I think many non-autistic folks that haven’t really interacted with real autistic folks, who don’t meet the stereotypical traits that are often shown in media, didn’t connect with Giorno is because they didn’t understand how his ‘internal rules’ worked and why he acts the way he does. He doesn’t feel the need to unnecessarily bring harm to other people, places, or things. He values the lives of all living beings, human or animal, and has a deep connection to nature because of his isolation from people at a young age. The way his mind collects the smaller details about an enemy’s Stand powers/weaknesses and how to defeat them in order to help achieve a bigger goal: becoming a gangster. The way he sticks completely to his own morals, throughout the whole arc, and chooses to include his newfound family into his overall plan, instead of leaving them in the dark.
All of those details in his character are things that I’ve seen in myself, as an autistic person, and in many other autistic folks I’ve spoken to. I think that’s why Gio isc personally, one of my favorite Jojo characters. Without meaning to (or maybe he did, idk), Araki made a main character with very unique traits that often aren’t seen in an a lead male anime protagonist. Giorno is smaller, compassionate, ‘strange’, yet still as determined to do the right thing like the previous JoJo’s. He just has his own unique view on the world and how it should work and he’s hellbent on making it happen.
Golden Wind, as his Stand, is a fantastic representation of his internal morals and the power it has also manifests in ways that just make sense for who Giorno, as a character, is. There’s no need for Gio to have an offensive Stand that punches everything with overwhelming speed and power. The power of Golden Wind lies in its ability make new life from any organic matter it can get its hands on (granted that it isn’t in sub-zero temperatures and even that was something they still overcame). It creates something new out of ordinary or broken things, similar to Giorno’s internal morals about wanting to create a new, better world out of the broken one he’s experienced.
All of this leading up to GW Requiem’s true power at the end brings it all together, to me, and kind of cemented my own perspective seeing Giorno as a fantastic lead protagonist, who could definitely be on the autism spectrum. Requiem’s unrelenting effect on Diavolo’s mind at the end proved how strong Giorno’s inner resolve was to take him down, for good, so he could no longer be an immanent danger to anyone ever again. Giorno gave him a fitting ‘punishment’ that lined up with all of his personal morals and satisfied both sides of his own lineage: the hyperviolence and malice of Dio and the righteousness and chivalry of Jonathan.
And what what I like about your video is that you point out the specific reasons why Giorno is so different from the previous JoJo’s. He’s not a goofball smooth talker like Joseph. He’s not an emo high school student with a cool, calm, and collected attitude. He’s not silly and impulsive high school student like Josuke. He’s a mix of a villainous character and a chivalrous character. He’s fully aware of his own goals and can deduce how he’s going to achieve them without any fear.
I think if more Jojo fans gave Part 5 another watch, with some of what I’ve said here in mind, then maybe they might be able to see why he’s actually a very well-written and well-played character. That doesn’t mean he has to be their favorite or anything like that lol But it may give a different perspective on why Gio is the way he is and why he’s actually a very fresh take on a Jojo protagonist!
Unforutanetly, from what I've seen most people tend to not like characters they don't understand. From their point of view the character doesn't seem real or relatable. In actuality people have a really hard time reading the nuances of a character or even a real person who doesn't actively express their thoughts. From what I've observed, the brains of people who outwardly express their emotions expect others to do the same. When others don't it confuses their brain and it becomes uncomfortable. I'd say it's something similar to people feeling uncomfortable when their is silence. So the lack of emotions is like a lack of sound. People who find this silence awkward tend to either fill the silence or sometimes avoid it. When people percieve a lack of emotion from someone they'll often try to fill that space by making vocal assumptions about what you must be thinking or feeling or they assume you must not have any and avoid you. Usually the assumtions are negative because in their experiance if someone doesn't respond to them it's because they don't like them. To them they think why else wouldn't they respond to me (the way I would)? They might not think that thought exactly but they feel it.
So many fans do the same thing with Jotaro.
I love this take! I find it especially interesting cause I heard recently about one of the traits that can show up in a lot of autistic people where they tend to project personalities and feelings on to inanimate things and Giorno’s stand is almost a literal expression of that.

What are you, literally built/wired different?
Jokes aside, it's neat to hear different perspectives. I never found Giorno too boring as I either get caught off guard by him spouting some facts that Araki read about the newspaper, or getting hyped by his badassery. I don't see it as a bad take to call Giorno boring, as he doesn't seem to have a lot going for him, but when people say he has no character, that's where we break out the fishing hook and magnifying glass and call up mama Bruno. He surprisingly nuanced. He doesn't say much that gives way to his character, mostly only speaking about his motivations, but within those monologues and inner monologues are where his character shines the brightest. He literally says all of his beliefs out loud and emotes in his inner monologue. Also, his backstory explains why he's so outwardly emotionless.

I never realized in Golden Wind that relationships were the majority focus of the season. The members of Bruno's crew, including Giorno when he joins, are all memorable and they work well together. They're loyal to Bruno because he saw the good in them and gave them a path to follow. But yet he still allows them to deviate from the path he gave them to do their own thing and is never angry or hates them for it. They're are truly a family.
Family doesn't have to be blood related, trust me i know
