Also Kira's theme is absolutely perfect, it shows how it feels normal, yet something is off, and then out of nowhere it escalates, just like when Kira kills someone, also, the tone it gives proofs that he is just a normal person, not some immortal vampire or gay Aztec stripper god
ThePcPlayer Hehe agree, Toguro is also a big reason to click :D The thumbnail of this video actually has villains from 3 of my 4 favorite manga writers, Togashi, Miura, and Araki, would be perfect if he just added an antagonist from Urasawa, like Johan or Friend.
I once had a professor tell me that the main character of my story was too "reactionary" and that the villain was the one actually doing anything... but considering it was the first three chapters of what was planned to be a novel (and that she hadn't even actually met the villain yet, just his underlings stirring shit up to get the story going), I wish I could have told her "no shit, Sherlock". Not to mention, it was a fantasy novel, a genre which she herself admits she doesn't particularly like aside from George R. R. Martin (and even that was because she was tired of waiting between seasons of Game of Thrones). I had the urge to tell her to pick up and read Lewis, Tolkein, or Robert Jordan if she wanted to actually have her critiques of what she considered "good fantasy" taken seriously. Reading one good fantasy series does not make you an expert on fantasy.
If you think about it, Robbie Rotten is technically a very nuanced hero. His ideology of being lazy and his talents that have follow with that makes us see him in the same light that we see Sporticus. Sporticus being so physically talented that he's literally the sports god of Lazy town looking down on its people. Robbie is painted as the Satan of Lazy Town, living underground in his dark depressing room despising the people above. But the thing about Robbie is that he doesn't genuinely hate these kids for not exercising, he hates them for being unable to truly understand him. Even when Lazy Town is Lazy, its not acknowledging Robbie. But Robbie despite that fact, still pursues to make Lazy Town more Lazy so that he can truly have friends. He is obsessed about this, to the point that he has demoralized himself and become Robbie Rotten. He does have low stamina and physical strength, which makes him unable to participate with Sportacus' ideals of fun. But the thing about him is that he could easily have been the hero. He is excellent in talents, which some of the people in Lazy Town do have. Robbie just happened to choose the wrong path in his life and suffers for it. So while Sportacus and Robbie do seem like they are harming each other, its really life forcing the other or even on its own whim doing damage to the other. These two are comically exaggerated figures who just want to be simple people, but stand in the way of each other by what they think will earn the town's trust. Which is not the people's fault as they have been shown to like both Robbie and Sporticus, but what we view as good and evil, even in things that have no real moral goundings.
Nazareno Gimenez zapiola thank your for this charecter explaining (sorry i sometimes forget what the english word was 🙇♀️) Robbie Rotten is truly very cool guy.
For a well written villain/antagonist, Kira and Valentine are written many many times better than DIO, but DIO is epic and his personality is ugh, idk how to tell and just for the sake of that he makes for the best villain
@Dio He has a suit and an odd tie and something going on with his hair So let's compare him to Giorno-has tiddie window 3 donuted blonde hair and multiple ladybugs brooches So yeah in terms of stand user he is pretty casual and within any dress code
Swiper the fox is actually one of the most scariest yet relatable anime villain. Like Loki he is constantly switching sides in most episodes he is the villain however there are episodes where he is not. For me at least I think Swiper the fox does not actually want to steal. If you say to a criminal "criminal stop stealing" he obviously does not listen but I think whenever Swiper heres the phrase he is wondering to himself whether stealing is the right thing to do so there are time where he steals and times where he does not. For me I think during his childhood he suffered racist insults because he is the only character that does not speak spanish and in spain foxes are more dark. He was forced to go to the woods and became a stealer when his parents died because we never see another fox in the episode. He is always wondering in what side he has to choose. If he knew the right decision to do he would have been a good guy.

Are you serious, all the official Chinese government communications have said is that they wish to keep the One China policy in a statement of "solemn representation". Hell, they aren't even criticizing Trump, they're criticizing Taiwan for "playing tricks". Which if you're familiar with how the CCP conducts foreign discussion on Taiwan, is a very minor statement. I like how the western media likes to shit on China all the time and suddenly when Trump is involved, China becomes some sort of porcelain doll that needs protection from Mr. Totally-Not-Senator-Armstrong. Considering that he's going to scrap TPP and has a position of toning down activity on american overseas engagements, China's probably going to love him and not care about a phone call Ms Tsai made.
So much agreed. In my experience, writing a real villain is really as simple as figuring out how the story would work if written from the villain's perspective. As a writer, you get to see how ridiculous it is for someone to do that all the time, even a fictional character.I've worked with a lot of school-age stories and telling the story from the bully's perspective always allowed me to flesh out all those little insecurities and personality nuances that I don't really think about when I'm focusing on why my character's life is miserable because of them. Making a real villain was so much more rewarding though, and it often offered me the chance to do things with the story that I wouldn't have thought of, including, in some cases, redeeming my villain because they're not actually terrible, they're just human, and I figured that out along with the main character
To make a villain feel realistic, they need to be intimidating, maybe a relatable quality, drink alchohol occasionally but not smoke, be 33 and if they were to get into a fight they would win
I think the best scene with Kira is when he accidentally killed his "son" and was chewing on his nails out of stress. That simple, human, "oh good god I screwed up," scene just says so much.
OG BamBam GO I don't think that even qualifies as head canon. He outright says he may care for her in the stray cat incident and even accepts his role in the family in the Bites the Dust arc. He didn't need that kiss from Shinobu , but he went for it.
What I like about Kira is that when you rewatch Part 4 you can see him stand in crowds at some points during episodes before he’s properly revealed. He doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb, he blends perfectly in. That’s what serial killers do in real life too. Blend in. They look average and no one bats an eye.
Exactly. I've rewatched Part 4 many times, trying to catch characters in crowds and I did. I found Rohan, Kira, Mikitaka and many others just blended in crowds in the first few episodes. It's so fun!
My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

@@spraghoot3598 Look, no one ever said Jotaro Kujo was a nice guy. I beat the crap outta people, more than I have to. Some are even still in the hospital. I've had idiot teachers who like to talk big, so I taught them a lesson, and they never came back to class. If I go to a restaurant and the food is bad, I make it a policy to stiff 'em with the bill. But, even a bastard like me... can spot true evil when he sees it! True evil, are those who use the weak for their own gain, then crush them underfoot when they're through! Especially an innocent woman! And that is exactly what you've done, isn't it? And your Stand gets to hide from the victim, the law, and the consequences. That's why... I will judge you myself!
Im so happy to see Kira finally recognized for being a great Villian. It only took 20 something years. Hes my favorite Jojo villian. Some manga readers also like Kira but we are few. Dio is awesome but I love how smart Kira can be.
Problem is Dio is way more charismatic, over the top charismatic, and does and says some ridiculous stuff. Wouldn't say he is better than Kira but Dio is made P3 for me.
@@aellyn2764 I wouldn't say that it's the same in part 7 since Johnny and valentine were trying to get the corpse parts from the very beginning, before they even knew that they were going to start a war against each other.

The villain, the Boss didn't even know about Bruno's action and didn't plan on harming them until Bruno decided to betray the organization and kill the Boss.
Yoshikage Kira: Just wants to live a quiet life. Saves some random guys marriage and turns their creepy son into a confident young man. Joseph Joestar: Cheats on his wife, known connections to Nazi Germany. Jotaro Kujo: Dolphin fucker. Once beat up an entire bar full of innocent people. Josuke Higashikata: Known thief, violent temper. Okuyasu: Tired to con his way into winning a lottery. Koichi: Really steals, no dignity.
How to know if real villain: Have they ever caught a good guy, like a real superhero? Have they ever tried to disguise? If technically nah, you'll need to teach them how to be villains!
Kira didn´t just disguise himself, he straight up killed a man, stole his identity, and integrated himself into the mans normal life and family. Kira is pretty much the master of stealth if you think about it.
Ehhhh, you're being rather generous. If Kira had TRULY integrated himself into the man's life and family, then Hayato would never have found him out. Hayato found him out BECAUSE he wasn't acting like himself. The wife ( can't remember her name ) didn't notice a difference because she fell in love with the man who wasn't her husband and was in that Honeymoon phase where he could do no wrong and was blind to the obvious differences.
Araki makes some of my favorite major villains in anime, perhaps even fiction in general, but I'm a new jojo fan so that's probably just the hype talking. Minor villains are mostly run of the mill.
If you're a new Jojo fan what part are you on? You might already caught up to part 8 but just in case you're not, believe me, it's not just the hype, Araki really knows how to makes characters, villains/antagonists included, I honestly think he has the major number of best written antagonists on anime/manga and some of the best in all fiction. Part 4, 6 and 7 ones are amazing.
@@juliusalexandria4361 No idea if you'll reply to this but I hope you know it ain't just hype since you probably know by now Pucci is a damn good villain
Dio literally incinerated a dog, made a mother eat her own child, and murdered and raped countless innocent people over a century how could you not hate him
One of my favourite moments in jojos is during the fight with red hot chilli pepper when it shows a few shots of the town with Kira in the background. Makes me realise that he was planned out far in advance and clearly had a lot of thought out to not him.
Blue Fox he doesn’t need to, jojo is a series that you can start from any part and go back later. A friend of mine started with part 4, then watched 1-3 after finishing the manga and he was perfectly fine.
I wish I didn't start with part one. After trudging through parts one and two I will never be able to watch part 3. I hear that it gets better in parts 3 and 4 but it was too painful to make me ever pick Jojo up again. Love the memes though. Honestly the Jojo fanbase is better than the show itself. The end card memes are especially well-done by fans.
La squadra fron Jojo's part 5 was actually amazing as, villians? I mean, they were searching the same as Brucciarati crew. The point is, in the anime, you can see how they were more than "the stand enemy of the week" they were friends, they trusted each other, they joked with each other, they were amazing antagonist
This just makes me feel bad for Risotto. All of his friends are dead, and he's the last one from La Squadra to complete their mission. Especially that we can see that they're all likable characters with distinct personalities.
I once got asked "Dude why is the La Squadra gang your favorite minor antagonist "squad"?". I wonder why. Also, Risotto is such a great -- and hot -- villain. (Villain? Not sure. He and Giorno, the protagonist, were both attempting to kill... the boss. Yeah.) He's one of my favorites, along with Melone.
Minus the whole murder and hand-fetish thing, I do relate to him. I just want to wake up, go do my job, come home, chill out with some video games or hang with friends. I don't have any ambitions except to have a quiet life. Kira is incredibly relatable.
*ANTAGONISTS AREN'T VILLAINS!*An antagonist is simply someone who opposes the protagonist. Here's one thing: If the protagonist was a drunk guy trying to drive home, then a cop pulling him over would be a antagonist. And I think we can all say that the police are more heroic to a drunk driver.
what if the driver is drunk due to a crippling depression for failing to rescue his only child from his demented, murderous wife, and the cop pulls him over and hustles him like a street robber?
What if the drunk driver may just drive into another child on the street and render his/her parents drunk drivers? Crippling depression doesn't give you the right to do stupid shit that can affect others. If the cop is corrupted he is wrong but that doesn't make the driver right.
But then it seems that it's much *easier* to make your protagonist the hero in fantasy type fictional stories due to the fact that you're gonna be stuck with him for the majority of the story and he needs to be some instance of likable in that ideal.
I think that the weakest part of part 5 the main bad guy kinda shit but all the other bad guys are really good but mother fucking Funny Valentine in part 7 what a guy stole the show easy.
Holy shit the ''make America great again'' killed me. Also i want to say, my favourite thing in ficcion has to be when the main character works as the villain of the story, with the good guys being the antagonist. Or when a main character is not symphatetic at all. Preety much why Meruem is one of the best antagonist ever.
wait, didn't meruem came first? i sincerely don't know but i also think they are very different characters, meruem is very inconsistent, most of his scenes are structured not to make sense of him, but to give cheap surprises, cheap subversions, cheap twists of his character. that being said i really like how he turned out, even if is something out of the blue, and could be done better, he is still a good character ulquiorra is a goth, he is the embodiment of nihilims and that make sense, he is imortal, he have no ambition, and until orihime, he was not able to notice nuance, a character with high perception, but that wasn't able to understand subjectivity, he is consistent, even if not that original.
Lucas Melo I think they are infact pretty similar. Both start out as beasts, with no sense of morality. Granted, Meruem had a god complex and Ulquiorra was just emotionless. Both were not reluctant to kill someone though, and kind of started to look for purpose. They both found a human girl that showed them the core of the human heart through their actions though, and they both learned that they themselves are human somewhere. And in the moment that they realized this exact fact, they ceased to exist, coming to the conclusion that they were never meant to be human. You are right in that they both represent different schools of philosophy, but from their characterization and structure, they were both really similar. I wouldn't go as far as saying Ulquiorra is boring oe unoriginal, quiet the contrary - everytime I am asked what Bleach did right in its long time running, I always mention Ulquiorra's character. I would say he was truly superb, even if Meruem was superior (though he only way because of the paralel developement he underwent with Gon - that was fantastic).
@@potmki6601 JoJo's bizarre adventure part 7 steel ball run. The ability of the villain: dirty deets done dirt cheap. Part 7 wasn't animated jet but you can read the manga. Or watch the anime till part 5.

Toguro's line about Orange juice over ice versus alcohol- implies a purity of spirit, which is later revealed when he just wants to have a good fight and is not as evil as he first seems.
(opinion) He puts all other anime villains to shame. Instead of being given an over the top personality and showing him doing gory stuff, he's presented in such a calm, realistic, and haunting way that sends chills down your spine. Johann knows people, too damn well. He can make you commit suicide without making it look like he's manipulating you. He'll put on any act to emotionally manipulate you. Indeed...Johann, is the human Devil.
Monster by Naoki Urasawa. Probably one of my most favorite, with interesting characters. The motivations behind each character, the 'villian', and such are all real nice.
A well written villain can make you relieved and sad that they're dead Joseph defeating Wamuu (or Wham) is a great moment, because he prevailed against another step to defeating the villains, but its really sad because he feels like a real character. Wamuu was a noble warrior who respected Caesar and Joseph as fighters, and even saved Joseph from zombies when moments prior, Joseph had reduced Wamuu to just a head.
He was like Joseph in that he fought for pleasure, but unlike him in that Wamuu respected his opponents. Joseph ended up not hating Wamuu for killing Caesar because Wamuu never gloated and remained a true warrior til the end, which Joseph learned from.
Super Eyepatch Wolf Y-yes my stand...Complain about you making us good free content, and give me a part 3 review! shall force you to do just that! MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA WRRRRRRRRY
I personally think the best villain is JJBA's Golden Wind main villain, Dia-- I mean, if you're smart like me, you'd probably like Diav- What got Jotaro so interested in dolphins?
Kira is the best anime villain because he is easily relatable, not everyone wants to stand out as the best at something, he got bullied for his nail clippers almost everyone gets bullied for having something, but the most important thing, everyone loves hands
Honestly I liked his nail clippers. I love having "themed" stuff rather than basic stuff. Like, a pencil with some drawings is so much better than a simple, one-color pencil.
@Mark Lucchese Unless you're brown, black, the environment, farmers, etc. Also, the last two decades have produced progressively worse presidents so being the best amongst a pile of shit, even if that were the case, wouldn't be an accomplishment.
Don't you just love it when people confuse Kira with a shitty character who shares the same name?Go watch or wryd JoJo,the Kira in that show could also make Death Note's Kira his bitch.
Johan from Monster is one of my favorites. Griffith is brilliant though. They do such a great job of showing him hit rock bottom. Beyond that even. The most beautiful man in the world, who accomplished his goals, only to throw it away because he felt slighted by Guts. Physically tortured. Spiritually and emotionally broken. So pathetic he can't even kill himself. Of course he would sacrifice everyone to get it all back. You still hope Guts will finally kill him some day though.
At that point I'd sacrifice anyone too. It's either die yourself, live in a broken body, or throw your subordinates under the bus. I have strange mixed feelings about the character (8=====D) but he's pretty objectively a bad person despite being understandable.
gotta admit I felt sorry for him before his sacrifice; he got tortured almost to death for months just for consensual sex with the princess, who held no grudge against him...
I wasn’t surprised when I first started watching JoJo (about a month ago). The villains were exactly what I expected. Dio was iconic, Kars was... Kars and Dio again was iconic. But Kira felt like a real person. Sure, definitely not as fleshed out as a villain like Thanos but definitely not the usual anime garbage. In a small way it did remind me of an early rendition of Thanos, a trend that’s become popular recently - the villain winning against the eve growing cast of recurring characters. I haven’t gotten to see part 5’s villain, Diavolo, but I hope he’s just as good.
Not as fleshed out as Thanos? Dude Kira is way more fleshed out than him and Thanos is not one of the best examples of a fleshed out villain, well maybe yes for Marvel comic standards.
I love this video. I'm a big Berserk (and YYH) fan and love taking about Griffith as a character. I love that despite starting as and ending up as enemies, Guts and Griffith truly need and truly love one another during the Golden Age. They are at once so different and so alike- both suffering through hard childhoods, surviving sexual assault, becoming master fighters, and feeling that their origins hold them back... And Casca rounds out the trinity with similar traits as well. It's beautiful. A shift really begins when Griffith asks Guts to b kill a political enemy and Guts accidentally kills the man's young, neglected, and abused son as well. What I adore about Griffith is that he's so fucking relatable, he's split the fandom.
I hate how in the later arcs that you can easily see how guts can be a bad guy and how Griffith can be the good guy. Like of we didn't know about the eclipse we could all think Griffith was the hero. That's something that I love about berserk because it doesn't see things set as good and evil it explores it's concepts but doesn't really have anything set as good or bad if you get what I'm saying I probably described it so weirdly
Two things make or break a villain: reasoning and levity. You can have the greatest villain, but if their motives are shitty it just becomes bland. Take Askin from Bleach for example, he isn't evil all he wants to do is watch what will become of the world after Yhwach destroys it. That is interesting and makes him feel more real compared to per say Frieza archetype of "ohh look how evil I am". (Cell is the best DBZ villain) Levity also plays an important factor. I'm gonna bash on Frieza again. During Ressurection F Frieza is there to destroy earth. However not only has he been defeated 4-5 times now, the God of Destruction and his tenant are there, basically making any threat he does null. On the flip side you have someone like Aizen. Not only did he blitz the entire Gotei 13, but he also just casually survives Yama and stops Ichigo's, literally the only guy who's immune to Aizen, sword with his finger (again). Then there's someone like Beerus who will destroy the Earth if Goku loses. Those two are good examples of levity.
StormSurge to be fair Frieza is portrayed to be an arrogant narcissists who sees himself as superior to everyone because he's so much more powerful and has control over dozen of planets, that's his character (this is weird if you've seen the recent arc of Dragon Ball Super).
I disagree with this notion that a villain has to have this very complex motivation or plan to be a good villain, and that Freiza isn't one. Frieza isn't complex, he isn't sympathetic, but in a way I do feel like he's relatable, like SEW said. The dude has personality. He's arrogant and haughty like a lot of anime villains sure, but seeing how much thought he puts into his mockery and how much he enjoys his own perceived superiority makes him feel unique (I also feel like he was probably a model for a lot of anime villains going forward, ones that dropped some of the nuances). I like that he's this small, weird little alien dude who despite not being a handsome long haired Final Fantasy character thinks he's so much better than you, and despite not seeming like the type he's surprisingly articulate. The contradictions are interesting. Plus, once you break through that arrogance he's got all this rage that seems to stem directly from his superiority complex. That you'd dare defy him and actually make him break a sweat are things that'd get him really riled up, maybe because it shows him he's not in as control quite as much as he thought. Frieza gloats and luxuriates in his disdain for you, but he also gets mad, frustrated, scared--he's got a range of emotions that are not just 'evil dude'.
Rewatching berserk, Griffith's actions were not really that uncalled for. It was his ambition. The same ambition that brought so many people to him, was the same ambition that killed almost all the people brought to him.
He wasn't a complete sociopath, if I recall correctly, before recruiting Guts, he says "I will pick the place you die". Throughout his time at BotH, he always looked out for his people, he even cared for Guts and Casca. Hell, the main reason he became the mess he needed to sacrifice everyone to fix was because he wanted Guts back but was too proud to admit it so he distracted himself. When the choices came forward, he was given 2 choices, his dream or his men. But other than that, he was also shown the mountain of corpses that had already accumulated to achieve his goal. "Death of 1 a tragedy, death of many a statistic" held true for that. He was desensitized before the final decision. So when he made the call, it was either what brought everyone to him, or everyone that was fighting for him. Given he could get more men, and does, and the fact that he was desensitized was the final nail on the coffin for his army. He picked what HE stood for, and if these men were already willing to die for him, then was the time they were going to do it.
the interesting thing is that Griffith especially during the Golden Age Arc had the characteristic of a typical protagonist, unlike Guts, who lacked it: a actual goal to work towards. it´s a rather interesting twist on the concept with the Protagonist being the guy that follows, instead of as so often, leading.
I'm not totaly agree with that. He is overly ambitions, cynical and arrogant on surface but my main point is what we deal with in the end of arc is not so much Griffith alredy. For me Griffith died long before that in dungeon. In my opinion what is we deal this is broken shadow of him with not much sanity left if any. It not justifity it actions in any way but I think to base overal jugiment about his person on this is not totaly fair.
I'm so glad you brought up Senator Armstrong. Even though the MGS series is popular in the gaming community, (granted Metal Gear Rising isn't technically an MGS game) I rarely see people talk about how great Armstrong is. Throughout the entire game you only see a glimpse of Senator Armstrong before the final encounter. Somehow Armstrong is so memorable as a villain while having barely any screen time. His character is so absurd and makes the finale so much fun. He changed the tone of the game drastically and when he kicked Raiden a sound effect of an audience cheering played. Armstrong has so much style and at the same time he is intimidating as a boss. Seeing him break Raiden's sword and not even flinch as Raiden desperately punches Armstrong in JoJo fashion was stunning. His appearance in Jetstream Sam's DLC was no disappointment either. I wish his character was more present throughout the game but damn do I remember every moment with Armstrong. Also thanks for another great video.
Fredrick Butts I had trouble fighting Armstrong the first time I fought him. That's only because I didn't know how to avoid certain attacks and I failed the QTEs multiple times. If you know how to dodge his attacks and know the QTEs his fight can be a breeze. I don't think his fight is necessarily cheap. If anything I would say that QTEs are the only cheap thing since it's easy to mess up and they can show up without you expecting it. I can't recall how long the fight took so I searched for a video of the final stage of the boss fight. The video I watched was called, "Metal Gear Rising: Final Boss HD" and the fight without cut scenes was about 5 minutes. It definitely took longer for me since the youtuber in the video almost perfected the fight. So I would say the fight probably takes 5-10 minutes. I can see how the fight can take awhile if you don't know what to do. I think it took me awhile too the first time I fought him. Now that I think about it Super Eyepatch Wolf needs to do a video on boss fights.
Honestly I dont think he shouldve been in more of the game. The entire time your thinking "Oh hes the evil bad guy pulling the strings. He just wants to make money. Oh hes the final boss in a giant spider? Thats all it is then" Then he pops out of the spider, turns into a badass and starts lecturing Raiden on insane shit (The fact some of the stuff he says you can actually agree with is a nice touch)
Another recent anime that handled villains really well is "91 Days". Throughout the episodes you're wondering if you want the protagonist to succeed, or whether or not he's the villain or hero of the show. The show often succeeds in making the villains really likable and the protagonist unlikable that you're on the fence on who to cheer for.
I really, really, love your videos like this one where you analyze different works, characters, and ideas, and look at what works, what doesn't, and how these different decisions in building a character or story affect things. As a comic creator who writes and draws their own comics, I learn a lot from your videos and they provide me many different perspectives I can take when creating my own characters or story. Keep up the good work!

Trump is the definition of a Villain
Trump isn't really a villian. He wants to make America great. Not saying I like him. But, that's what Trump wants.

A good villain is the hero of their own story.
What if they're a self-aware sadist?

I think the best scene with Kira is when he accidentally killed his "son" and was chewing on his nails out of stress. That simple, human, "oh good god I screwed up," scene just says so much.
I prefer when he instinctively protects Shinobu from Stray Cat, his reaction even surprises himself
OG BamBam GO I don't think that even qualifies as head canon. He outright says he may care for her in the stray cat incident and even accepts his role in the family in the Bites the Dust arc. He didn't need that kiss from Shinobu , but he went for it.
The scene where he eats the potato chip.

what if the driver is drunk due to a crippling depression for failing to rescue his only child from his demented, murderous wife, and the cop pulls him over and hustles him like a street robber?
What if the drunk driver may just drive into another child on the street and render his/her parents drunk drivers? Crippling depression doesn't give you the right to do stupid shit that can affect others. If the cop is corrupted he is wrong but that doesn't make the driver right.

Also i want to say, my favourite thing in ficcion has to be when the main character works as the villain of the story, with the good guys being the antagonist. Or when a main character is not symphatetic at all.
Preety much why Meruem is one of the best antagonist ever.
I often referr to Ulquiorra as a ''prototype Meruem''.....sadly no one gets what I mean
wait, didn't meruem came first?
i sincerely don't know
but i also think they are very different characters, meruem is very inconsistent, most of his scenes are structured not to make sense of him, but to give cheap surprises, cheap subversions, cheap twists of his character.
that being said i really like how he turned out, even if is something out of the blue, and could be done better, he is still a good character
ulquiorra is a goth, he is the embodiment of nihilims and that make sense, he is imortal, he have no ambition, and until orihime, he was not able to notice nuance, a character with high perception, but that wasn't able to understand subjectivity, he is consistent, even if not that original.

Johann from Monster is both a story-driven villain, and a force of nature.

A well written villain can make you relieved and sad that they're dead
Joseph defeating Wamuu (or Wham) is a great moment, because he prevailed against another step to defeating the villains, but its really sad because he feels like a real character. Wamuu was a noble warrior who respected Caesar and Joseph as fighters, and even saved Joseph from zombies when moments prior, Joseph had reduced Wamuu to just a head.
I love Wamuu so much.. one of my top fav character villain in Jojo
Wamuu best pillar man. No other trash opinions accepted here. /hj

Yah he’s great, I would also add Makishima to this list.
@@dadonutinator well in the manga it shows the reason why the king got him tortured (sorry to be one of those guys especially if you have read it)
@@danielshore1457 You mean the King's trying to keep the royal bloodline pure? I've read the manga before too and he's one freaking psycho

(Cell is the best DBZ villain)
Levity also plays an important factor.
I always thought freeza was overrated
Frieza gloats and luxuriates in his disdain for you, but he also gets mad, frustrated, scared--he's got a range of emotions that are not just 'evil dude'.
long haired, slightly effeminate, fancily dressed...
Funny Valentine and Diavolo: * nervous sweating *
And how could he refuse getting a new body and having his dream come true?

Chap Nobody wants to talk about because he took forever to beet and is cheap as fuck even with sam's sword.
Now that I think about it Super Eyepatch Wolf needs to do a video on boss fights.
he played college ball, you know
Android 19 Don't forget the nanomachines, son.
Honestly I dont think he shouldve been in more of the game. The entire time your thinking "Oh hes the evil bad guy pulling the strings. He just wants to make money. Oh hes the final boss in a giant spider? Thats all it is then"
Then he pops out of the spider, turns into a badass and starts lecturing Raiden on insane shit (The fact some of the stuff he says you can actually agree with is a nice touch)
I like how everyone is talking about Kira

Another recent anime that handled villains really well is "91 Days". Throughout the episodes you're wondering if you want the protagonist to succeed, or whether or not he's the villain or hero of the show.
The show often succeeds in making the villains really likable and the protagonist unlikable that you're on the fence on who to cheer for.
MaJuV Death Note as well
Super Eyepatch Wolf has sided with Yoshikage Kira
Toguro was a health buff bruh.. of course he would prefer orange juice over alcohol
