That Rohan section is completely inaccurate, Rohan is actually YOUNGER in the side more comic than he is in the main story of part 4, meaning that the point I was trying to make there is invalid.

Honestly I've watched enough Jojo that I don't even acknowledge the change in color pallete. It's just like, "Hey, the sky just happens to be yellow now."

Actually Jotaro came to morioh to tell Josuke that he will get a third of Joseph’s inheritance
He went to do both things
It was both
He was originally trying to sort out Joseph inheritance, and thats when he found out about Josuke. He had to travel to Morioh to tell him about the money but Joseph wanted to use Hermit Purple to take a spiritual photo of Josuke and see how he looked. Instead of getting a photo of him, Hermit Purple got a picture of a dark ominous presence in Morioh, hence giving another purpose for Jotaro to travel there.
Still a funny comment

Also something to note, The fact that Kira and Josuke are direct Contrasts to each other, Josuke dresses like someone who'd mug you but is actually a really nice guy, while Kira dresses normally but is hiding something dark inside
This also extends to their stands. Killer Queen being able to destroy anything and crazy Diamond being able to restore nearly any destruction
Also, Josuke dresses as flamboyantly as possible, whereas Kira dresses normally and forgettably.
Side note: this is why I kind of like the anime design of Kira better; it makes sense to me that he’d look bland and ordinary. That’s his whole schtick.
Seeing Joseph as an extremely old man was one of the roughest things I'd ever watched in an anime. It mirrored my relationship with my grandmother, knowing her when she was full of energy and vigor, but watching that slowly slip away over the past several year has hurt more than anything else. I don't think Okuyasu is stupid per se. Things like the complex metaphors he used to describe Tonio's food and that stutter teleport he comes up with to catch Red Hot Chilli Pepper are pretty clever. I think his brother told him he was stupid, then bullied him until Okuyasu stopped trying to think for himself.
Mike MD I completely agree. He's learning from his past mistake and became more clever in battle in "the book: another day" highly recommended for okuyasu lovers
Or that he's too used to relying on his brother for guidance and protection when they were younger, then when they're older and Keicho started belittling him, possibly in an attempt to maybe make him stand up for himself, he instead started to think that maybe Keicho's right and just follows him because he feels indebted to him.
Yeah. He is actually pretty smart when he get used to it. It really that he is such a sweet boy and think highly of his brother, relying on him even with their semi abusive relationship that made okuyasu think himself of incapable. He is my favorite jobro beside polnareff
Mike MD I think his voice kind of buries his hypothetical idiocy. I think that the V.A’s in English and Japanese both did a great job, but he does kind of sound like a burly knucklehead, which is part of why it’s easier to see him as unintelligent as opposed to his actual mental strength.
Matthew Mara yeah that shows okuyasu’s straightforward thinking, he didn’t consider teaming up to whoop rhcp’s ass, all he wanted to do was kill the bastard. can’t blame him tbh

Loved DiU but some EXCEPTIONALLY minor nitpicks.
Some scenes cut from the manga were really interesting, particularly Kira measuring the distance for the air bomb. He knew precisely the measurements of his finger and arm and used basic algebra to determine the distance between him and his target. Not only that, he's very casually just doing some quick mental arithmetic in the middle of a life or death struggle against a huge threat. It's such a neat single panel which gives a lot of great insight into how Kira thinks that I was disappointed to see missing from the anime.
Second [SPOILERS]
So when Koichi uses Act 3 to stop Kira from using Bites the Dust: in the manga Koichi grabbed onto Jotaro's coat as Jotaro rushed forwards, putting himself in range to use his ability. Jotaro notices Koichi holding onto him only after he's used Time Stop and praises Koichi for being so reliable (and it was a pretty solid moment of quick thinking from Koichi to realise he wouldn't be fast enough to cover the gap on his own).
In the anime, there's this awful shot of Koichi standing on the ground commanding Act 3 before Jotaro stops time, but then we see Koichi holding onto Jotaro anyway. It makes zero sense and what makes it worse is that Jotaro praising Koichi makes Jotaro seem a little dull too... I mean he's so marveled that Koichi used that one ability he has? He obviously wasn't praising Koichi's quick thinking this time around since Koichi was apparently able to use Act 3 without needing to grab onto Jotaro. It takes away from how sharp Koichi is by having him just blandly use his ability like that. Hell, if Koichi was in range before grabbing Jotaro why did he even need to grab Jotaro anyway?
Every time I see that 2 second shot of Koichi using Act 3 I get a little sad.
All in all though, cutting a 5 second scene and adding a pointless 2 seconds are my only complaints about a 39 episode series. Goes to show how great the show is.
Wow, that makes a lot more sense. I only watched the anime version so I was wondering why Jotaro was suddenly praising Koichi so highly. It definitely seemed out of place to me, having not read the manga.
Are you sure kira used algebra, I'm pretty sure that's trigonometry
thats triggering man i understand you. o feel the same way abt Phantom Blood's anime missing details such as how Jonathan met Danny (drown flashback) absent from the anime. Part 4 is my fav but seeing small details with a big impact not in the anime upsets me
Writing out that much for a minor nitpick is a bit contradictory. TV shows, cartoons, anime - they can all be completely contradictory and forgetful all the time. JoJo's has multiple examples of this throughout all the parts (Zeppeli not having children, DIO's moles etc.). I'm going to guess that two different animators did those two shots of Koichi and just never properly communicated, and no-one bothered to fix it.
I think this isn't a fair argument, I think you're complaining about the anime and not the story.
One of my favorite things about Part 4's final battle is the sense of Duality between Josuke and Kira. Both their personalities, social identities and stands are made to be opposites of one another, which is a hell of a lot more interesting than two time-stopping stands going at it.
Joskue is also a seriously underrated protagonist imo. Everybody always points to Johnny's realistic flaws or Jotaro's heroic stoicism, but Josuke is basically an extremely refined repackage of the first three JoJos before him. He personifies traits from them while still maintaining a sense of his own identity. He isn't an invincible badass like Jotaro, he's a teenager trying to take on the role of a hero. Hell, he was able to stand out as the undeniable "main character" in a story that featured both one of the most Iconic shounen leads of all time *and* Koichi Hirose. (which is more than I can say about Giorno, sadly)
It's cause they're going by the anime which ever-so-slightly kinda downplayed Josuke's sense of humor (& further development of Crazy D showcased at the end of the Transmission Tower arc, skipping that whole part. Not to mention Kira's ability to calculate distances/measurements on the spot, which is kinda Gappy whole thing, no?)
The parallel represented through their stands further highlights their duality, as one repairs (Josuke) the other destroys. ( Kira)
mahamed yusuf yes even their songs are the complete opposite. Goddamn I want to be like araki when I grow up.
The fact that Josuke and Kira are such complete opposites to each other with all the aspects you pointed out really always intrigued me as it's something I realized that I don't see that often in media nowadays in that way: being both so blatant yet subtle.
You have a teenager from what people would say is a "broken" family since he's raised by a single mother though he does have a grandfather who's a cop (in Asia, single-parent families do tend to get ostracized, especially if it's a single mother), he dresses like a delinquent and explodes if you insult his hair, and he seemingly has no friends and even got picked on in the first episode (before Koichi, I noticed Josuke, while having female admirers, didn't seem to have friends, though to be fair he was starting high school). Yet he's not a delinquent at all: he may be frivolous and greedy at times, but Josuke, at his heart, is a good kid.
Then you have a man past thirty with an established career. He was the single child of a traditional and well-off family with parents who loved him. He is polite when spoken to, and he dresses well and appears normal. But underneath, he is a highly intelligent (seriously, purposely taking 3rd place in everything he did only to get off the radar? That hints Kira may very well be able to easily win second or first if he wanted, and he was highly aware of his twisted nature when he was young), and cunningly cold serial killer who won't hesitate to harm anyone, even a child, if theey stood in the way of his goals. Yet that goal is so simple: to live a normal life. Even in Kira's mannerisms, you realize something is off with him: his way of speaking and staring appears monotone and blank compared to Josuke who's more animated and lively.
Their Stands, as mahamed yusuf pointed out, also really well reflects the duality. Not only does Josuke's heal while Kira's destroys, but their appearances alone are another indicator. Josuke's Crazy Diamond has some resemblance to a knight in shining armour with a more human appearance - despite his delinquent appearance, Josuke is like a knight in shining armour with his good heart and generally saving people (Koichi, Okuyasu, Mikitaka, Rohan, etc.).
Meanwhile, Kira's Killer Queen, though with a human body, has a cat's head with slit-like eyes and a cold metallic quality to its skin. There's also something about Killer Queen's appearance (perhaps the lower "garments" and even aspects of the signature pose) that reminds me of a Muay Thai kickboxer - Muay Thai being one of the most brutal martial arts which perfectly reflects Kira's actual brutal nature.

Araki has a fascination with Italian culture... Rohan went to Italy way too many times to count
Araki based Morioh off of his hometown... Rohan lives in Morioh-cho
Also he drew himself hugging Rohan
I think rohan personality is what araki wanted to be, but unfortunately his personality is more soft like Josuke imo
>Araki based Morioh off of his hometown... Rohan lives in Morioh-cho
I mean, I believe that, but it still feels odd to me.
Somehow Morioh seems so untypical for a Japanese town. I have spend quite some time in Japan and Morioh doesn't remind me a lot of what I saw there. It seems very... western to me.
It's why the live action set Morioh in a town from Spain.
Also, Heavens Door is a stand that lets it's user potentially know everything about anyone they meet, and allows them to "edit" that person, writing rules or additional information into them. It's a wonderful plot device, and is as close to being the author of the story as you could get, without breaking into reality alteration & predetermination.
George Joestar:"JoJo, why can't you be more like Dio!?"
Jotaro Kujo: "Jolyne, why can't you be more like Koichi!?"
This is funny because video game Jotaro had to overwrite reality for a Jojo to be a good parent. (We're just gonna ignore Holly's upbringing for the joke to make sense)

I still have no idea if that guy was an alien, this unknown will haunt me forever I'm sure.
Kody A. And the fact that araki isnt going to explain it ever pisses me off
I'm honestly willing to bet he's an Alien. No hole/wound from the arrow (just a tiny cut, whereas everyone else was straight up PIERCED), he didn't see Crazy Diamond (cause if he did, I don't think he would've lied about it, since that looks like that might've been the first stand he ever saw if it was), those elf ears tho, and the ice cream in his bag. HOW DOES A HUMAN JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE STILL FROZEN ICE CREAM IN HIS BAG WITHOUT BEING AN ALIEN?!
Kody A. I like that Araki never actually revealed wether or not he was actually an Alien

I've always seen Tonio as a great development of Araki's writing. AFAIK, to that point in Jojo's as a whole, any Stand user that's not a member of the main cast has been a homicidal villain. Araki knows this and plays up all of Tonio's actions to be super sinister and makes him out to just be another stand villain. Him turning out to just be a wholesome, friendly guy is the first time Araki has indicated his willingness to branch out and expand the potential for future characters.

This part has my favourite stand in pearl jam. The fact Tonio manifested a stand because he wanted to make amazing food gives me the strength to be a better cook
Keep in mind that
1. Pearl jam can cure cancer (seen in one of the rohan spinoffs), but it needs a dish made of extremely rare and high-quality ingredients
2. Pearl jam doesn't augment the food's taste. Tonio's just that good.
Honestly one of my favorite side characters, dude just makes his food so bussin it cures everything, and good enough to keep his business running without even a menu

19:12 This is so important, and so underrated - anime is usually limited in budget and production so that many shots are just 3-frame-mouth-animations, even when the whole character is shown, which is jarring to look at. And it is something that the industry as a whole, and its consumers, have come to accept, and even seem to celebrate as a desirable "feature," so much so that even shows with stylized 3D-models are limiting their own framerate to look as primitive as their 2D-counterparts. It's ridiculous, and actually pretty annoying how some people seem to bask in this limitation.
Part IV is well aware of that limitation and focuses on how to expand in every direction that this limitation allows, creating these amazing shots that generate an "excuse" for the image to be still, and in this shot with Yukako in particular, which is a downright homage to Alphonse Mucha, and the general Art-Nouvea-era. So much beauty and detail is put into this single image that covers several precious seconds of the episode, and it's so effective and captivating with it's story- and atmosphere-context.
Jesus christ I love Part IV
The line work in a lot of the Part IV anime FILLS ME WITH LIFE
Some people say art is an reaction to limitation. While I am not necessarily on this side when it comes to stills in anime I often enough am in other scenarios.
Part 4 is the worst part imo

KING SAMUTAY nah, that's part 5
Kira is probably one of the creepiest villains because he’s so normal on the surface.
Like most serial killers, he’s an affluent, if mild-mannered, man who has a contempt for women, and is able to get by unscathed due to being wealthy and charming enough to have social advantage.
I've been waiting a looong time for this video ;)
ΔĿZΞΔL07 a year to be exact, since the part 3 video
More than part 5?
Vile Beggar king crimson deleted part 5
I've been waiting ever since I discovered this channel.
Weirdly enough, I just got done rewatching the earlier parts this morning....that was some good timing.
I love your perspective that the final fight is a community rooting out an evil inside.
(spoilers)
I originally saw the multiple characters overwhelming and taking out Kira as a kinda Deus Ex Machina for Josuke not being able to win himself. Okuyasu wiping away the bubble bomb, Koichi delaying Bite the Dust, and Jotoro finally incapacitating Kira. Hayato kinda helped during the fight, too. Thinking more into it, I realized all four of those characters were revived from life threatening injuries (dealt by Kira) by Josuke's Crazy Dimond. Then I went against my original Deus Ex Machina idea, considering them as assets of Josuke. The concept of them being a community is more fitting.
Also I love the irony of Kira dying from being hit by an ambulance. I also like to draw a comparison from the ambulance to Crazy Dimond. An ambulance is a powerful, fast vehicle that provides healing; while Crazy Dimond is a powerful, fast stand that provides healing. Almost in some cosmic, bizarre way... Josuke deals the final blow to Kira.
Patrick McDonald I agree to everything except the last statement. Ambulance just be op lol
I love the fact that an ambulance was able to kill Kira by gently running him over, meanwhile Jotaro survived being slammed into by a road roller by a flying vampire.
@@Blank3tM0nst3r keep in mind jotaro punched the fuck out of the road roller with star platinum, so the force was mitigated
kira however had his head grinded by the wheel with no resistance

man I can't wait to watch this to go from mildly curious to incredibly interested by the end of this video in and of itself is a fantastic feeling let alone doing it while watching the actual series thanks for the heads up
Confession: I tried and failed to force myself to get into the first 3 parts of the Jojos anime, but Part 4 is finally the first part I actually enjoyed for many reasons that are explored in this video.
If you didn't really like the other parts of Jojos despite wanting to, I think this is the one that could finally grab you.
Reality Punch Studios for me it was the exact opposite well I started at part 4 for some dumb reasons. I'm happy that you liked it tho
I always liked Jojos alot. Was a bit disappointed with the pacing of part 1 and 3 in particular as I was reading it, but it was still worth it.
Part 4 is where Araki finally hits his stride. His ideas and battles become more creative and less typical. His characters become more relatable and more fleshed out. His theme building, suspense building and story structure all finally click. It was what made me love the series, and it impacted the following parts in a fantastic way.

First half of part 3 is meh, second half is freakin' awesome
Anything you make that's in relation to Jojo is godlike.
I really love the connection between crazy diamond and Josuke’s effect on morioh. Crazy diamond restored and Josuke restored morioh. It’s just a little thing but it’s a nice detail
Diamond is Unbreakable is hands down my favorite part. Best villain, pacing, supporting cast and the most satisfying ending. In my opinion 🙂

I had a hard time describing why I love Part 4 so much. I always just say “Part 4 is more grounded, in comparison”. But your deep analysis of Part 4 NAILS almost all of the reasons why I love this part.
I wonder why Araki like Rohan so much. Rohan is just the best manga artist in the universe, a very powerfull Stand user and says constantly how intriguing JoJo's story is in the introduction. Hmmmm....
Hapsam there's a piece of art he made of him and Rohan embracing each other.
Cause rohan is hella entertaining

He made so much story for Rohan.

I got so, SO nervous he was about to miss out Kira. I think Kira was one of the reasons I started watching JoJo, if I’m being honest.
Ah yes david bowy
Don’t forget that part of Jotaro’s “softening” may also be due to the fact that he IS a father at this point. Not necessarily a great dad but hey, at least he didn’t bring his daughter with him to hunt down a deadly stand user. Actually, axe all that.
Don’t forget that at this point Jotaro is a marine biologist and has become the true Ocean Man, discovering the love of the dolphins.
TBAFilms idk if araki planned that far
And then he later became a dolphin ruclips.net/video/TH43HRLINVU/видео.html&t=
Stand user: Jotaro Kujo
Stand name: Ocean Man
Yeah, Araki usually doesn't plan that far ahead. I'd say that the softening was thanks to his friends in part 3 and due to the fact that now he's an adult with a job.
Same also applies to Joseph who in part 2 was very immature and violent.
Nah, it would have been a much better part if Jolyne came with him, just think of all the cute moments he could have had trying to act tough with his daughter around! Oh wait, then he wouldn't have been such a shit dad and part 6 wouldn't have happened....
I'm conflicted about what I want now : I
while i very much love parts 2 and 7 the fourth part really has a special place in my heart
shook zeppelin man I agree. Part 4 has my favorite villain, it has this special place in my heart.
Funny Valentine is great, but I really like Kira. He doesn't have grandiose scheme, just want to kill woman while living quietly.
If I become a serial killer, I probably live smart like that.
Part 4 is shit
shook zeppelin man GO GO ZEPPELI
My heart and actions are utterly unclouded. They are all those of justice.
It's weird how the location is smaller (being the town of Morioh as opposed to a huge journey) but feels so much bigger than Part 3 because we have a full town to explore and people here that are living their lives.
Even small characters like Aya Tsuji have their own businesses and their own motives in this town, and she shows up multiple times.
> Mentions stands in part 4 are a reflection on the owner's desires
> music changes to Persona music
Don't think i didn't catch on to what you were saying there.
Personas are just stands really.
@@gh0rochi363 facts
One of the best things about part 4 is that the characters feel like a real team, in the earlier parts (as well as other battle manga) it was only the main character getting all the glory with the side characters there to make the hero look cool, but in part 4 everybody has their part to play. Anyways good video.
Precisely
What about the Crusaders? Kakyoin and Joseph delivered the secret of DIO's stand to Jotaro, and Avdol and Iggy gave their lives for Polnareff, who was important in part 5
Personally, I think part 5 is the most effective at this.
holy crap, I was re-watching your HxH video and received the notification for this just as I got to the part where you talked about stands.

Don't worry, you can say "Crazy Diamond" on a RUclips comment without getting slapped by copyright.
its a kind of a fresh breath of air with a pinch of bizzare
Even if Rohan was younger in the Louvre, that still adds to his character development. He wasn't as willing, and to an extent desperate, to steal someone's life story. It's only when he recovers from flying too close to the sun does he become a more mature author and person.
Honestly the beginning of part 4 to about mid point I found it decent, just because everything sort of felt disjointed although I get that it all connects at the end but it sort of felt like filler. However the last 1/3 of Diu was just legendary
