I dont know what Im impressed with more: the absolute perfection of this drum cover..... or the guy who actually thought of this drum score in the first place. This cover was a labor of love no doubt. Perfection is a bold statement
Perfection is impossible, as there is always Something, even in the most itty bitty way that could be altered. However, Sterling isssss.....FaaaaaaaaannnTAStic!! I hope he keeps striving for the impossible perfection..and I will keep listening! Just as with Neil. For a while I've been searching for bands AS Good or something close to Rush. Seems it's found within Sterling and other people who are doing covers and will also create their own. What a delight!
"the guy" your referring to is the late Niel Peart of Rush. Hands down greatest drummer of all time. Jimi Hendrix of drumming, maybe even better in his field since he had more time to develop.
As a fellow drummer and one who was first mesmerized by Xanadu in 1977 and then this song a year later, you clearly have been led by Neil through a lot of your life as I have been. I cried the day Neil died. I never met him but I felt I knew him from afar. He was a man that endured tragedy but was able to come out the other side. Listening to your thank you video to Neil shows how much he’s made an indullable mark on your life. Mine too. Wonderful work Sterling.
I cried when Neil Died. Also when EVH died. But Neil’s death really hit me hard. So unexpectedly. He also inspired me to be a drummer. The world lost the most talented lyricists and drummers ever to walk the planet.
rush is the only band where you actually enjoy hearing , seeing a drum cover and appreciate everything thats going on with the song same for bass and for guitar but for me personally always enjoy this kind of videos
I have literally ran out of things to say about This Kid.!!!! This is my 4th video that I watched of Him. Total Perfection !!!!!!!!!! Again. The most talented drummer on this channel.!!!!! This Kid is Unbelievable !!! Its like Listening to the Album. Trust Me.!! I Have been playing my whole Life !!! Oh by the way. He Plays the entire side 1 of this Album..Which is my Favorite Rush Album of all time.!!! This kid is Unbelievable !!! If Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson watched this. Video. It would Literally blow their mind !! I have never Ever in my life seen anyone play these songs so Good !!!!!!!!!
😭😭😭😭😭❤........Tears of happiness and joy. As heartbreaking as it STILL IS with the loss of Neil Peart. This dude and his channel has brought comfort into my soul. Absolutely OUTSTANDING performance once again. 100% spot on!!! 🤘🏻🥁❤
Wow, when you go through all of your Rush covers, collectively the best I've heard. I can't imagine the hours it took to learn all of this to such detail!! Great job!!!
To see a clear demonstration of one of my top 3 favorite Rush songs of all time is so awesome. This song made me love Neil Pearts drumming. Thanks for making this video.
Excellent cover for such an underrated song. What if I told you the best sci fi movie from the 70s was two Rush songs called Cygnus X-1 & Cygnus X-1 Book II? My Rocinante sails by night on her finally fliiiiight... Farewell & rest in peace, Neil
This guys videos really help you appreciate how good Neil Peart really is, not that i didn't before. Your performance is dead balls on, Mr Peart would be proud.
Wow, where to begin.....I’ve seen most if not all of your covers and this one rates right up there. Probably my favourite Rush song. Watching your covers, especially this one, just reminds me of what a brilliant composer NP is. Thank you for posting, keep it up.
I'm 60 years old been a rush fan forever. I met geddy and Alex.. I know this song so well.. My brother........ I couldn't stop listening...You are Amazing.. Absolute perfection.. Thank u for that....
This video has been here for 3 years now, probably 3 dozen of the views were from me and there's only 800 likes total. I seen a video of a cat that had almost 1 million likes. This is one seriously talented guy that probably won't bother posting any more videos. Hit the like button!
Where to start, indeed. For drummer fans of NP, this is hands down the most entertaining material on the web. First, the fealty to the recorded version is remarkable and unique. Second, playing skill is beautiful. Third, camera angles and switching are great. Fourth, the completeness of the kit and, again, duplication of NP's equipment (various drums, cymbals, and other percussion instruments). There is simply nothing else out there that compares to this kid. Wow!
That's what I say.. I've seen many copy bands and drum covers... but this man's cover band will and must include geddy and alex.. no one comes close but those 2
Fantastic! A heavy heart led me to stumble upon your outstanding video. RIP Mr Peart and condolences to all the musicians, poets, and drummers that lost an inspirational hero.
Again, Neal would appreciate and applaud your efforts. Thank you for your outstanding tribute! My hope is that Geddy and Alex will see these videos and reach out to you with a heartfelt message of thanks and support. While I do know that we still cry when faced with the thought of Neal being gone, I also know that his band mates feel an unimaginable loss with us. They would absolutely approve of your tireless work I’m sure. Bless you for honoring Neal with such precision and power.
You're so good I want to set up a Patreon so I can donate to your awesomeness. Learning all of these songs to such perfection is incredible, and crafting the drums so impeccably is why Neil will always be one of my favorite drummers of all time.
This is what I love about your covers, you pay attention to every detail. Like at 0:39 you leave the hi-hat open like in the original song! Awesome job
Neil Peart is def the GOAT but this song is what made me play bass. Ged is superhuman in this piece. This is truly and literally music of the gods. Even though I'm watching a great cover of Neil's master works, I still just hear that bass and it fills my soul
The BEST Hemispheres drum cover i´ve ever seen ! Hats off to you and congrats! You clear a lot of doubts about how this masterpiece is played! God bless you👍
I love this because bands and orchestras around the world play the masterworks of classical artists all the time. This is how legendary music lives on. Please keep at it and getting out to the world 16:46 So professional. Thank you. What a joy you are
I agree Geddy but A friend of mine and myself did this labor of love on all of your albums up to Moving Pictures before there was RUclips and we played everything to perfection also, and I mean Everything, Including Neil's drum solo's . Great job Kid but I don't need to play 6 Rush albums anymore to prove that I can do it. We live in another world today. Not many people appreciated it when Pagan and I played it then. Some girls and other drummers watched in amazement especially on the 18:07 Song Hemispheres played to perfection along with 75 others. One song is great but when you start following Neil's drumming I can tell you one thing, " It's Addicting" I loved every minute of it also.
Excellent work on an excellent song. This makes you really appreciate the drum work throughout. I feel sorry for all those who would really enjoy the music of Rush, but for some reason never gave the group a chance.
RUSH rules and this is class. A Farewell to Kings, the sequel Hemispheres, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, all my favorites. I look forward to seeing more of your vids.
I really envy the passion and drive you have to do all of these fantastic covers! I love to drum along to Rush songs but with much less attention to detail or accuracy. I know it took a ton of effort and time to get these songs this good and you deserve every bit of praise you get on these videos!
There are many guys out there that are doing really good covers like this, but the audio is often out of sync with the video. Thank you for making sure they're in sync!! And great playing and all that stuff too!!
Hey man, great cover as always. The best Rush drum videos anywhere, and as close as we could ever get to seeing the man himself playing his songs. You nail everything down to the atom and it is astonishing to say the least. I'm not sure if you read these comments or not, but I have a question about this song that I have been wondering for years: how do you count that pause at 4:25 to nail the start of the next section with the full band? Is that pause counted at all or is it literally just a pause of random length? I've not been able to figure that one out, and since you nailed the timing in this video, maybe you could reveal the secret. Thanks man, great videos!
I've always wondered the same thing. I feel like since it's such a long song and this was recorded on tape, it must have just been two separate takes from the band. So frustrating trying to get it right when you're playing this song.
@@Xrball Yeah, I think you're probably right. I would assume that when playing it live they probably had some sort of click track in their ears so that they all come in together, but what you said makes the most sense in a studio setting. Personally, I have found that if you count the new time signature in 7 (subdivided as 1-2-1-2-1-2-3) at the same tempo as the next section of the song (which is obviously in 7) starting immediately after all sound has stopped in the song (including the reverb trails/sustain), it takes about two and a half measures-worth of counting before the next section starts, but is really hard to do for numerous reasons, chief of which being knowing when to start counting so that you time the entrance right. That has been my best guess at what is going on, but I seriously doubt that what I have found is actually accurate to what is going on in the song. But yeah, if you count about 2.5 meausres-worth of time in the 7 time signature at tempo of the next section of the song, it will get you pretty close. I would be lying if I said I can nail it, though. It really comes down to luck for me most of the time if I get it right, which rarely happens lol.
Brilliant! You do a terrific job recreating these masterful compositions. Well done!! The only tiny suggestion/critique would be to simply hit the drums harder. Peart was remarkable for bringing tremendous force and energy to percussion. Big dude, played with intensity. That is what makes his finesse that much more remarkable.
I dont know what Im impressed with more: the absolute perfection of this drum cover..... or the guy who actually thought of this drum score in the first place. This cover was a labor of love no doubt. Perfection is a bold statement
Both. .

let the fray begin…..
Obviously the god who wrote this, what kind of braindead question is this
Yes my favorite Rush song of all time, what an epic !
Lex Leighton by far the best
By far the base
Collin Paley for sure
Collin _plaey why did you comment two times, but write the same thing?
My favorite as well
Wow. I’m not a drummer, but you’d have to be deaf and blind not to appreciate the skill it takes to play this song that perfect.
As a fellow drummer and one who was first mesmerized by Xanadu in 1977 and then this song a year later, you clearly have been led by Neil through a lot of your life as I have been. Fantastic work Sterling!
You even had the triangle part! Bravo!
He made it!
Love the little triangle hit at 2:35
rush is the only band where you actually enjoy hearing , seeing a drum cover and appreciate everything thats going on with the song
same for bass and for guitar

Really enjoyed your Hi-Hat through the entire performance. Timing was bang on. Thanks for sharing an epic song with us. Cheers
Impecable !!! So bad ass !!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼 The Professor would be proud

Much respect Sterling! My favorite rush song. This shows you Neil's greatness up close! Keep them coming!!
The universe divided as the heart and mind collided with your drum cover! Brutal!
Toca demais! Execução perfeita desse clássico absoluto!!! A obra do Rush é eterna!
To see a clear demonstration of one of my top 3 favorite Rush songs of all time is so awesome. This song made me love Neil Pearts drumming. Thanks for making this video.

I went to sleep every night for almost a year listening to this tape. This was my first Rush album. Thank you
As always...fun to watch and listen to (cranked!)
STANDING OVATION ! GREAT JOB DUDE ! #ripneilpeart #longlivetheprofessor
Very impressive! Drums sound great too!
I wish I had the bread and connections to buy you Neil's clockwork angels set, especially his snare. Great job again. I'm glad you're here.

Thank you for sitting tacet and letting the outro play, very classy.
This guy is the best Rush cover drummer I’ve ever seen! He could play with rush
That's what I say.. I've seen many copy bands and drum covers... but this man's cover band will and must include geddy and alex.. no one comes close but those 2
This tour was the first time I saw Rush. You nailed it! Neil was hands down the most gifted percussionist
Awesome work
Thanks for keeping Neil’s name alive. He’s my favorite drummer and your my favorite Neil cover drummer. Thanks for this great entertainment Sterling
You put in work! Great job! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I love Air Drumming but Neil Peart is virtually impossible to keep with. He was simply that good. Well done young man.
Fantastic! A heavy heart led me to stumble upon your outstanding video. RIP Mr Peart and condolences to all the musicians, poets, and drummers that lost an inspirational hero.
Amazing drum cover. You have excellent chops. The fact you can remember all the parts is pretty amazing in itself.
Nailed another one brother!
Just sick!!!

Again,
Neal would appreciate and applaud your efforts.

One of my all time favorite rush songs and songs period
You're so good I want to set up a Patreon so I can donate to your awesomeness. Learning all of these songs to such perfection is incredible, and crafting the drums so impeccably is why Neil will always be one of my favorite drummers of all time.
WOW!!! As I was listening to this song on my headphones and closed my eyes I saw Neal smiling down with delight, Sterling you did him proud
INCREDIBLE!!!!!
fantastic! you play with the thoughtfulness and precision of Neil Peart!! Keep it going!
This is what I love about your covers, you pay attention to every detail. Like at 0:39 you leave the hi-hat open like in the original song! Awesome job

VERY good job! I'm going to revisit this on drums this week! Your tuning on the drums were spot on!
My favorite Rush composition.
The BEST Hemispheres drum cover i´ve ever seen ! Hats off to you and congrats! You clear a lot of doubts about how this masterpiece is played! God bless you👍
Simply beautiful and a respect for the whole song.
I love this because bands and orchestras around the world play the masterworks of classical artists all the time. This is how legendary music lives on.
Please keep at it and getting out to the world
16:46 So professional. Thank you. What a joy you are
1:49 - 1:57 is my personal favorite part of the song. The chords are so cool, and the band vibes with Lifeson impeccably during this short part.
EPIC. F*cking incredible. Nice work, sir.

Outstanding Sterling! Neil would be proud
I'm so inspired by this video. I'm building my dream drum set up and plan on incorporating some electronics. Videos like this really get me excited.

Great drumming, shows us how great Peart was to come up with all this
