At 63, after quite a few crashes & injuries/surgeries in my life, i'm FINALLY getting back to the drums,...AFTER 30 YEARS! If i can get working again at half of Mr. Fuentes' talent & skill level, on this tough of a song, i will be a happy drummer. P.S. 1978 was also my first RUSH concert,...Brown County Arena, Green Bay, WI. Hemisphere's tour. YEE HAW! MANY more after that,...MANY! Life's a bummer if you're not a drummer :o)

@@johnyrichaerd2368 I think your use of the word technically is pertaining to peoples opinions, and not the bands themselves. I love Rush, Pink Floyd, Zep, Purple, and Sabbath. I could not pick one over the other because to me, those are the 5 greatest rock bands, and its not even close for would be 6th. However, if your talking about technically, Rush is by far well above the other 4 and that is also not even close. Jimmy Page who is for sure in the top 5 greatest rock guitarists ever was well short of being technical. Some say he was pretty sloppy. Obviously Bohnam was not sloppy cause his technique was his own, and one of the greatest. My point is Rush, as a band was very technical, the rest were not, but I still love them all and I imagine a million miles into the future, people will still be listening to those 5 bands, they will never go away, they all just too good.

You did this song...no. This *artwork*, and did it justice. Rush, and definitely Neil Peart, were master craftsman and some of the greatest musicians to ever walk the Earth, hands-down. Everything about this cover was sublime. The creativity and the determination to learn *all* of the percussion/rhythm parts and patterns as oppose to strictly performing the drums was untouched in the RUclips Drummer community as far Professionalism and Expertise. Your playing as well, was extraordinary. No mistakes. Straight perfection, all 11 minutes.
It is a crime that you only have a little over 6k subs. You should easily have over a million. But, alas, comedic value/high production cringe and not so much intrinsic talent, are what sells these days and rakes in the subscribers and views. That’s not to say people such as 66Samus or Jared Dines or Josh Steffen aren’t talented (they all are), but none of them have ever produced a video that matches the level of creativity and precise playing as this.
Keep up the good work. You have *earned* a new Subscriber.

Sterling, you’re a master of Neil Peart. I was 18 years old in 1980. I had a Ludwig five piece, a cheap set of high high hats, a semi decent 18” sizzle cymbal my parents got me for Christmas, a totally shitty, badly cracked ride, and a shitty 16” crash.
Xanadu was the first tough Rush song I learned thoroughly, excusing the fact that I didn’t have a double bass, a glockenspiel, Wind chimes, that other little thing that makes chime sounds, the cowbells and wood blocks.
I used the rims of the toms to simulate what i could, and the domes of the cymbals as well. It was pretty crappy sounding, but I learned as much as I could!
You nailed it! I’m 61 years old, and I’m using your vid to relearn this song on drums!

Really, really nice job there Sterling! I’ve always loved Xanadu and it’s cool to see Neil’s drum parts executed to a “t”!

A very good excellent replication of the Xanadu rhythm section ; but as I always say when I see these renditions , that its always easier to imitate the master , but its much more difficult to originate the uniqueness of creative genius that "Professor" Neil Peart had ... & unequivocally.. WAS ! 👍👏😉

Wow! I've been drumming for 35 yrs, I could only "dream" of doing that, and I have.. lol What a great Tribute. Some obvious respect right there. Well done and quite an inspiration, you are an artist

I've been playing since I was six years old, and I'm not even 20 yet. Don't give up on learning this. I started playing Limelight on my shitty torn-up CB Drum kit. We all begin learning from the professor the same way. With enough practice, this song will have your name on it.

Outstanding job! One of the best I've seen on RUclips. I think you would have gotten a little smile out of Neil, with that one! This song is a perfect example of what Neil described as “running a marathon while solving equations” One tip for you, a little painters blue tape on the larger cowbells will stop that over ring sound. Just experiment with the right amount of tape in the right location. Keep it up, Sterling!
