I remember coming home from school in the 70's as fast as i could so i could practice playing Rush on the drums. I developed too many bad habits to get good at it. Clearly youve mastered it. Incredible playing, man.
I am a lifelong fan of all things Rush. All 20 studio albums with all 165 songs. Every wonderful DVD concert performance that Rush has released. Xanadu is the best thing Rush ever created and I listen to it almost every day. Your performance here is absolutely wonderful and spot on, so very well performed. Absolutely great. I salute you. I love to see a drummer that ENJOYS what he/she is doing, and I get that in spades with this video. I can think of 4 songs that, like the assassination of JFK, or the blow up of the space shuttle I remember exactly when I heard it. In reverse order, Enter Sandman, Metallica, Black hole Sun, Soundgarden, Magic Magic Man, heart, and... Xanadu, by Rush. I love the entry at 7:24. Great song, great job, I envy you, you have truly accomplished something with your life I live in St. Catharines, Ontario. I grew up in Niagara Falls Ontario. When I was in Grade 7, a group called Hush came to my Junior high School for a dance. Neal Peart was the drummer.

Amazing! The best cover artist of Neil Peart that I've ever heard. I've played for years but never got to play with anyone other than the band and their records. So, I know the rhythms, the syncopations, the tempos, the nuances, the fills, the riffs, all of it.

Thanks so much Bob. Pat Travers opened for Rush back in 1978 and it was a game changer for me and ALL our friends. PT and RUSH were the only 2 bands we covered as a band when we played at parties. It was awesome!

Most of the time I’m kinda doing my own thing with the tracks, but man, you’ve nailed every fill and beat perfectly! Very impressed. Respect man. Keep it up.
Bravo, bravo, bravo! I loved Rush as a kid and still do. Haven't played this album in years, listened to it yesterday in the car. I forgot quite how incredible Neil's drumming on this song was. I could not even picture in my mind's eye what he was even doing in many parts of the song, it is that hard! I thought then - I'd love to see a drum cover of this on YT - but I doubt anyone can perfectly master it. But you nailed it! Absolutely amazing. There are lots of drum covers of Tom Sawyer on YT, which is often thought of as Neil's most difficult (or certainly one of the hardest) drumming parts. And it is very hard indeed. But Xanadu is IMHO, even harder. It's just ridiculously, insanely difficult and only the most super talented could even attempt it! You should be mega proud - the Prof. is up there smiling down and giving you his nod of approval - of that I've no doubt.😀👍🏼

I played the record everyday after school, than moved onto a farewell to kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, moving pictures. I was even in bands that played it back then. Now here I am 38 years later learning it all over again because I haven’t played it in decades but it’s still in my blood. It takes me a couple of weeks to learn the parts and get the right feel. From that point I get the recorder out, set up the cameras and go to town. I am so glad I decided to do document these covers because it will be around forever : ) Thanks again for your kind words Joseph.

Greetings Adam, you're a fantastic drummer. Alex Lifeson was my greatest influence as a guitar player and RUSH was the greatest influence on my band. Much like yourself, A Farewell To Kings is my second favorite album, with Hemispheres being my absolute fave. The Hemispheres Tour back in 1978 was the first concert I ever attended. I attended every single RUSH concert here in Dallas, TX. until they retired. And I was fortunate enough on the Moving Pictures Tour to get a backstage pass and get Alex and Geddy's autographs. Unfortunately, none of us backstage had the courage to approach Neil because he seriously looked like he did not want to be bothered whatsoever...and this was at a time when the public never really knew Neil valued his privacy. So, I wanted to ask you if it would be possible to get a drums only mix of you playing Xanadu? I ask, because I have the isolated backing tracks of Geddy's Bass/Synths for Xanadu but no where online can you find Neil's drum parts isolated. I can't always here exactly what's going on drum-wise, but you make it easy for me to see by your great camera work...wow..you have some history playing Rush..it's funny..i never really listented to much beyond moving pictures and signals..i'm first discovering now, at nearly 53 years old, what brilliant work they did..thanks for keeping N.P."s spirit alive..once again, kudos to you!...and thanks for explaining your creative process..if i lived forever, I wouldn't be able to play these songs..lol

Greetings Adam, you're a fantastic drummer. Alex Lifeson was my greatest influence as a guitar player and RUSH was the greatest influence on my band. Much like yourself, A Farewell To Kings is my second favorite album, with Hemispheres being my absolute fave. The Hemispheres Tour back in 1978 was the first concert I ever attended. I attended every single RUSH concert here in Dallas, TX. until they retired. And I was fortunate enough on the Moving Pictures Tour to get a backstage pass and get Alex and Geddy's autographs. Unfortunately, none of us backstage had the courage to approach Neil because he seriously looked like he did not want to be bothered whatsoever...and this was at a time when the public never really knew Neil valued his privacy. So, I wanted to ask you if it would be possible to get a drums only mix of you playing Xanadu? I ask, because I have the isolated backing tracks of Geddy's Bass/Synths for Xanadu but no where online can you find Neil's drum parts isolated. I've been painstakingly editing and aligning a MIDI drum track but it's just not the same as a real drummer. If you'd like to discuss this offline, please contact me at: nathanshane@yahoo.com
