  • Pat Travers was a huge influence in my drumming since I was a teen. I learned all of his albums as a kid and played so many of his songs in cover bands. His albums inspired me, my band mates and so many of our friends. Truly a kick ass band. Seeing Tommy Aldridge on the drums for the first time back in 1978 was mind blowing and left us all slack jawed.
    Thanks again to my wife for her camera work and help. Enjoy!

      @@adamjohnston2311 yep I love the Makin Magic album, a friend of mine bought it back in the late 70s and didn’t like so he swapped it with me for a Leo Sayer album … best swap I ever did 😊 I had a go at Statesboro Blues this afternoon but I couldn’t keep up the faster beats on hihat so had to cut them back. Take care mate I will keep an ear out for you next PT track 👍

      @ADAM JOHNSTON looking back in the late 70s and early 80s, today music as of now does not have that feel like pat travers or UFO. Nobody I heard or seen is improvising except a handful of well known guitarist. Kids today lack creativity and energy.

    • @adamjohnston2311
      @adamjohnston2311  Год назад

      I agree for the most. I’m a huge fan of Tool, A perfect circle, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Kings X.
      UFO is another gem from the 70’s. We grew in the best era of music.

      Check out the band iconic Tommy Aldridge is drumming and a superstar lineup
      They release single I believe 4/22/22. Back in the 80s , I was doing a lot of travers in a hard rock cover/orig band.
      We covered boom boom and it makes no difference.
      I’m 58 so was a young man when this music hit. I was blown away when I heard go for what you know live. The energy and musicianship is second to none!! I know I’m preaching to the choir lol. Well keep on keepin on and I sure enjoy your great attitude and drumming.
      I play Yamaha kit still to this day. Tommy got me to switch from Gretch and have never switched. I do like dw kits also. Use dw 9000 double pedal and dw hardware. I really like their gear. Ok bro take care and say hello anytime. Check out the band Love and Death sometime. My son is guitarist / vocals with head of Korn. Pretty cool second album came out recent along with a live dvd.
      Good night to you. We live in Arizona so it’s time for bed soon lol.

    How it gets done people! Great job Professor! People, you know this shits getting serious because now they’re cutting two songs a day in the daylight. This would make sense if you knew that the dude runs a carnival tent every night in his backyard COVID be damned...
    Tommy Aldridge packed in riffs that Meytal needs 4 more years to discover, but I’m sure Adam had them all worked out by 1979. Lest you fear a 70's cover might have too much cowbell, AJ saves you the predictable and swaps you for an overdose of stick twirls! BTW, by the way the Vic Firth rep from 1980 who worked the Sunset Sound/Village/Capitol/Westlake/Record Plant circuit swears that Adam taught these moves to Tommy Lee just before they recorded Too Fast for Your Sisters Fishnets. (Sorry Danny, no time for autographs, maybe next life)
    Just in case you’re thinking of challenging this drum lifer to some nonsense drum off, I suggest you understand the purpose of the overhead shots. (Hint: it’s not so you can figure out how to mix like a pro who told you all his secrets in two sentences but you still are nowhere near getting it) The reason for the overhead shot boys and girls, is just the same way a gunslinger puts his pistol on the bar before you get some big idea, behold the fluorescent green tape measure! Subtle prompt for you to measure your dick size in private before you compare your chops to the reigning maestro of Santa Monica Drum Studio.
    Keep rocking AJ and props to the awesome camera operator!
