- War Pigs has been on my list to cover for a while. Bill Ward was a jazz drummer that found his place in a Heavy metal band. He had such a great approach to so many Sabbath songs but this one is my favorite.
What I did on this one was remove the original drum track and did my own interpretation of the song. This was a blast to do. Enjoy.
And thanks to my wife for her help with filming.
This was recorded (In the basement of my mothers house. jk) with Sennheiser mics, a 421 on the floor tom and RODE M3 on the Hi Hat. Mixed live through a 16 ch Mackie Mixer with a stereo output to a sound devices. Mastered and compressed with original track in Protools and edited in IMovie.

Thanks so much Trey! This song has been on my list for a while now. I had a blast doing my own thing in some areas. I used Moises phone app to remove the drum track. What do you use to remove the drum track?
@@adamjohnston2311 I use Moises App too......but only for songs where I don't find a great drumless version on RUclips. For War Pigs there is a great dreamless version available..........

I noticed that on some of black sabbath songs the drums are heavy on the 1. it's almost like the whole band is heavy on the 1. I thought some parts of there songs were a bit funky. Like James Brown funky. I could be wrong. at about 2:13 they are slamming on the 1. Drummers, music teachers, cause it sounds too funky and I love it. Please someone let me know
Yes true. The one is very heavy with a big foot bass drum kick. It really sets the tone for the song.

Yamaha absolute birch, toms are 10", 12",13", 14", 16". Rat salad is still on the list.
@@adamjohnston2311 Really? But then there is besides the 2 ROTO Toms, 1 Tom missing. I guess you have an 8",10",12",13" Rack and a 14" and 16" Floor, right?
