- Circumstances Drum cover was another fun song for me. Neil Peart never ceases to amaze me with how he approaches every song with such great detail and nuance. The is the last song on Hemispheres that I covered.
This album really takes me back to my roots. Truly inspiring and magical. I played to this album everyday after school.
Neil has so many nuances and flavors he brings to this album it is a blast to play. After a couple of takes I think I got it. I hope you like it. Enjoy!
Special thanks to my wife the cinematographer : )

Nice playing. I’ve always appreciated how Peart was way more deliberate on his hi hat work than most. Lots of subtlety between the hats and snare ghost notes. You nailed it…great job.
Thanks so much! Super fun song to cover. I love this album.
If Rush is the band of choice for you then you have the best catalog and selection to choose from. I didn't hear one note off. Fast becoming my favorite Rush cover drummer.
Wow! That’s a huge compliment.
One of the hardest songs to play from them....time signatures....rudimentary concepts....great musicianship, man! Tight rolls
Thanks Man! I really appreciate it. Super fun stuff to play.
@@adamjohnston2311 bruh, i've played for 40 years......thats the ONE and only tune that gives me a hard time! 1983 Tama Swingstar in pristine condition
I think this has to be one of the hardest Rush songs to play on drums
You really did this great song justice...PHENOMENAL!😍

Badass
Very difficult to get all the little nuances that Neil Peart would put into a song. You played that perfectly, very well done!
Thanks so much.
Nice job!...Great underated Rush song.
Thank you! This was a fun song to play.
In the 1970's I played this song on drums for my "demonstration speech" in class during high school. The school never allowed another drum set since. Banned. Ha ha!

Another fun song Adam! Can't wait to see what's next!
You need to get in touch with Geddy and Alex and audition for the next drummer for RUSH.
You're too kind. Thanks for the love.
Nicely done!
Really underrated song, and a great version. Really enjoying your playing, Adam.
Thanks so much!
Fantastico,
Thanks you Pedro. It was fun to and a challenge cover.
@@adamjohnston2311 Neil Peart siempre fué mi bateria favorito. Me resulta muy dificil tocar sus temas.Abrazos.
Great feel and timing! Keep em coming!
Great touch, groove and character. Tres impressed!
Thanks so much!
I think this is the most underrated Rush song, its my favorite. And you dude killed the shit out of it!!! I love your approach to the kit in general, great technique. Keep em' comin' brother.
Thanks Jason! Definitely one of my all time favorite albums.
Great job man, nailed it !
Thanks so much!
Great job! Using the chimes too? Woa. Serious cover
Thanks so much! Super fun stuff to play.
I love that song, an you and the sound of your kit were on top of it, solid, especially on the snare and cymbals.
Thanks so much for your kind words. Rush is always a fun challenge.
Good job on this one 👍👍👍 Very well rehearsed!!
Thank you! And thanks for checking out the video. Rush is always a challenge but so fun to play.
@@adamjohnston2311 You bet. I didn’t particularly care for The Camera Eye version BUT the other videos you nailed. Keep rockin😊
@@apieceofdirt4681 Just curious what did I do wrong in the Camera Eye?
@@adamjohnston2311 It’s just that it doesn’t have the feel and detail to it that your other videos do. That’s all. I definitely don’t mean anything disrespectful. I just try to be honest and respectful when I make comments on RUclips but the majority of the time people don’t take criticism too well and I can understand that. I mean nothing disrespectful. It just wasn’t as strong as the others. You obviously enjoy what you do and I definitely enjoy watching them.
@@apieceofdirt4681 no worries. I’m always looking for ways to improve and enjoy constructive criticism. It’s a good way to see things I would not normally see.
Thanks for the honest feedback.
Excellent cover! I really like the finish on your kit, too. 👍👍
Thank you! I have had this kit for about 18 years now. It's never left my studio : )
Geddy? Is that you? I'm just joking lol. Great cover!
Thanks Bruh! I get that often especially at Rush shows. Lol!
@@adamjohnston2311 Lmao
sounds like neil peart
Thanks! You're too kind.
I like your playing style. Nice work. I'm curious about your kit - it looks like a Yamaha but is the first 8" tom something else? The wrap looks a bit different and has a different tone but seems to also be an 8". Keep up the great playing.
Yes correct it is 2 8" toms. The first one is from my Yamaha Recording kit and the rest is my Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute.
Tom's 2x 8”, 10”, 12”, 14”, 16”, 18" Tom’s
Kick 22” x 19”. I wanted to add another drum so I used what I had. It does have a great tone.
@@adamjohnston2311 Cool! Did you have to tune the extra 8" up or does the recording kit (which I'm assuming is some maple or maple mix) naturally have a higher tone? Or just using a different heard there? Sounds great though and looks almost like the kit was made to come that way. Great job.
You look like Geddy Lee if he chose drums over bass.
LOL! I have been told that before.
do you do cover requests?
Sure.
@@adamjohnston2311 Are you able to play The River by Austin Mo? 🤔
@@StevenMartinOfficial It's a good song.
Hey dude have you drums only send me ?
I don't understand your question.
@@adamjohnston2311 Could you send me the drums track isolated?
We could do without the drumstick twirls.
Okay thanks Harry Balls. When you say we do you mean You?
Nice, enjoying these covers!
Thanks Hayley. Rush is always fun and hard to cover.
