IN the pocket; LOVE your nuances and attention to detail, note for note. Neil is smilin'. We ALL are......tremendous talent Brooke.
There's a glimpse of hope when the youth plays rush. Awesome work. Neil would appreciate your work. Rip Professor.
What sets you apart from most others is you hit all the ghost notes on the snare. I don't think people know how many extra notes that Neil is hitting in most songs.
They don’t, I know a couple guys that think they are rad but they only play half the song!
So damn true. Not sure if video is just better these days but I am not sure if NP was even hitting those as often.
She added things that were not there before
Absolutely 💯
4:28 holy crap
I love the tone of your drums. It makes me feel hopeful that your generation will keep Rush in our hearts.
Exactly what I was thinking but you said it first lol.
Sweet Woody Snare🥰
Rush is going to go down in history as the Beethoven of progressive rock.
Drums are tuned to perfection. Peart would be proud!
Indeed!
Not really.
@jumpinjojo and there it is, folks. Time for another booster shot, buddy.
@@rarefiedhermetic792Oh I apologize for disagreeing with you you. Hope I didn’t hurt your feelings. 🙄
So incredibly talented
The best cover I have ever watched so far... well done... The professor Neil Peart. . Rest in peace...
Great cover. It just shows us that you don't need a 20 piece drum kit to get the job done.
So many copy Peart technically, you somehow managed to get his feel with the technical side. Very nice. I was going to listen for 10 sec max but I was immediately struck by the great pocket and feel you have. Bravo!
Brooke you are a very talented drummer! 🔥🥁🤘I've been following you for several years and it's always a great pleasure to see your precision in playing combined with fluency, complex pieces make them stand out in all their musical magic... you can see and hear every stroke you make in your skill. You Deserve a Great Group to Play! I wish you the best on the music scene, you deserve it! Thanks for the covers you always play for us! one of your European followers kindly🤘👍
To be able to play this so perfectly and with only half of Neil's kit is a testament to Brooke's overwhelming talent. Awesome work!
Niel would approve! Well done.
It's a brave soul that takes on any Rush track, there are no two songs in which the drumming is similar to any other, The Professor would not allow himself that luxury. Well done, Brooke, your drums are tuned perfectly, there are way too many "drummers" that overlook that important detail, and your expertise shines on this one. Neil would give you one of his rare smiles on hearing you play.
RIP Neil Elwood Peart.
Well said. Can you tell, what tuning are the drums in? Thx!
@@CatsInHats-S.CrouchingTiger Not exactly sure, but I do know that Brooke's kit is tuned to whatever tuning Neil used in this song.
The notion that the drum tracks on Rush songs are not similar is not accurate. The grove Peart played during the Keyboard solos in Subdivisions is exactly the same grove he plays in the interludes in The Spirit of the Radio. He also begins many tom runs with a triplet before running down the toms. He also does some off beat accents on cymbals while playing a groove where he hits a different part of the kit on the beat. In subdivisions, both of the pieces he engages are cymbals. In The spirit of the radio he does this in the hook playing the cymbal on the off beat and a floor tom on the beat. Don't get me wrong, I think he was a master at crafting drum parts and I'm a big fan of his work. I am in the process of learning 3 Rush songs off the transcriptions. That's how I know there are similarities. @@zwastiunburzy3688
Guitar player here. Subdivisions is my favorite Rush song, Neal would be so proud to see how well you can play.
Brilliant job Brooke. Subdivisions is a show of strength for many drummers, very intricate, played it myself many times- took me ages to pat down. Peart gone but never forgotten, the best for the discerning..........
People will be studying this man forever. You’ve done a wonderful job.
I was thinking the same thing.
I closed my eyes and listened.
Neil is that you?
Amazing.
Thank you Brooke. Always a pleasure.
Best Neil Peart cover by far. Simply flawless.
Incredible drumming Brooke, Neal was my favorite drummer 🥁. He was an awesome drummer 🥁 and you did this cover spot on. 👍❤️

Oh great keyboard warrior……
You must really be insecure.
@@sackettssix-gun4780o.k. tough guy. Do you know what a simp is? You. Any time, anywhere. Do you live near las vegas?
@@mattdelany6799 are you serious? That baseless, unwarranted comment just told the internet that you're extremely insecure in your own playing, if you can even play at all, and that there is a very good chance that you are misogynistic. How about you go get a little fishing boat and find a lake to troll on?
Tight measure.
Great feel. (Sensitivity).
Great swing (groove).
Buttery fills.
Hi hat? Ride bell? Easy work.
Your own spice here and there (intentionally).
Yeah, bet this right up.
If I were Mr. Peart, I'd literally be honored and smiling. Yup.
The acoustics in that room, the drum tuning, the audio balance and EQ amongst all the percussion, and of course your playing, is absolute heaven to my ears.
I'm from Brazil, you play great, I loved your technique, for me it's the best there is here on RUclips
Picking a technical genius like Neil Peart is a bold choice, nailed it 👌
From one Drummer to another great job on nailing Subdivisions, definitely not one of the easier Rush songs to play, I wore out my vinyl copy of Subdivisions learning this track back in 1982 (yep I'm old), my cover band had an upcoming gig and this was one of the songs in our set list, challenging to say the least, and BTW love your take on utilizing Gravity Blasts on the snare, not professor approved LOL but he would be proud of you. Keep up the continued great drumming, and practice, practice, practice...
Love the overhead view. It lets the watcher see all of your foot and hand work. Very nice job.
Agree with that! So cool!! Cheers!
You look THRILLED to be playing.
You can increase views by just PRETENDING you like the song you are covering.
You are a world class player, your drums sound awesome, & you’re beautiful to boot! You definitely did the professor justice!
World class? Have you seen Thomas Lang, or Vinnie? Come on, man. Not even close.
@@mattdelany6799 Lang is natural wonder.
Awesome job. Drums sound great...you sound great....buuuut, I think that people either dont actually know the drum parts completely to this song or they dont want to make you feel bad? And I don't want to make you feel bad either, but you missed a beat in the end at the 5:13 mark, and again at the 5:16 mark. Still an amazing job though. 👍🏻👍🏻
'The Professor ' would give you top marks on this performance Brooke. I usually only get to say this to guitarists, but your instrument has incredible tone! Incredible performance!😊
As a lifelong Rush fan I would say this performance was very good but far from perfect. I always admire a great effort. Good job nonetheless.
Brooke, you have grown your skills as a drummer so much... What an awesome tribute to the Professor ... Neil Peart.... Love it!❤
Very good! I know this song well btw..
I have one piece of helpful criticism though. You tend to speedup in a few places during this song, you do recover and get back on time but speedup again! especially after the triplet at 5:18 you seem a tad too early.
I always consider a Rush song to be the best test of any drummer's talent. You NAILED that! Absolutely perfect. RIP Neil Peart.
Excellent point. Peart was absolutely ridiculous. I feel as though he often put way too much into his writings and I also feel they were always just amazing in just about every way!!
The best test? Really?!
Absolutely insane!! You are incredible!! Loved it!!!!❤
That was incredible! 😮 As a 60 year old who’s been a Rush fan from my mid teens, I’d given up hope of ever seeing a young person being able to play like this. I hope you’re in a band that allows you full use of your amazing talent.
Agree
Agree X10000
Sometimes drummers miss how important the hi-hat is in pretty much everything Neil ever played. I've listened to this song hundreds of times since it first came out, and many of those times only tuned in on the hi-hat and snare. I must say, you really did the hi-hat justice! "Pratt" would be proud. As for me, this was an impressive cover. Well done.
I’m a 61 year old Rush fan. Just what you do with your right foot blows me away. So good. You make me happy
Brooke you are incredible!!!
Neil peart would be so proud of you!
Fantastic job❤
so happy to see kids / young adults playing music like this.
One of my favorite songs by them! Right on. You've got a great sense of feel.
What do ya know? A modest, fully clothed woman playing great drums. Kudos!
One of my favorite songs of ALL time, not just Rush songs. Good job, Brooke C. I like how you changed things up a bit.
LITTLE PRINCESS YOU ROCK 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘RUSH HERE IS YOUR NEE DRUMMER ITS TIME TO HIT THE ROAD TO GO BACK TO WORK .....
Most do not appreciate how difficult the technique on display is here. Nicely done young lady, thank you for sharing
Great performance and ambiance but 720p?
Excellent. Loved the tuning of the drums and how the whole kit was mixed. Fantastic performance as well. I expected to be impressed and I was not disappointed.
Amazing job. Love that you're palying Rush. You obviously know and appreciate the greatest drummer of all time\ and his contribution to the art.
BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊 You made it look easy and your skill is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊
Brilliant drumming when I started playing drums in 1978 very few men played drums so it's great to see talented women playing excellent drums in 2024.
This is one of my favourite Rush songs, and that was spot on, timing, tone, everything! Awesome 😃
I've never seen anyone playing this song as faithfully to the original arrangement as you do, congratulations!
OHHHH- MY- GOD !!!! BROOKE you are really GOOD on drums !!! I really loved your performance, I am going to dream with this all night long !!!
I rarely ever comment on the internet. I have to say I have been watching your videos for a few years now and always wondered when you would top ‘The Pot’ by Tool…and this is by far your BEST! Neil Peart is the greatest percussionist that ever lived and I’m sure he’s smiling down at you. Perfection!
Bravo! Excellent job! Huge Rush fan here. Great sound and technique! Keep it up!
Wow! Your fluidity and naturalness is mesmerizing. Great job young lady! Neil would definitely approve!
Dużo się dzieje . Uwielbiam RUSH .Dobrze zagrane 👋👋👋
Really well played, Brooke. Thank you for covering Rush, my favorite band, and thank you for covering Neil Peart, my favorite musician. Hope to see more from you. Best wishes
Wow... Excellent job...You killed it....I would love to see you play The Prisoner by one of my favorite bands Iron Maiden..👍👍
It's such and exceptional song. Most Neil Peart songs are a challenge, but this is one is a particular hill to climb. Well done.
NICELY DONE!!!!
Spot on! I couldn’t find any mistakes
Great feel, amazing attention to detail, freakin’ phenomenal chops.
I mean, damn…you nail so many tunes with such fidelity it’s crazy. And even if they’re somehow not perfectly stroke-for-stroke perfect then you’re at least hitting every single point that feels important to my ears. 👏🏼
(And your kit is set up REALLY similar to my own, so your vids are even visually relatable.)
Cheers
I'd. buy expensive ear plugs & marry this one 😂 ...this is the only time Niel wasn't boring...what a blond earthquake ... beautiful lanky monster 😂
That was FANTASTIC!!!! You nailed it!!! I was in high school jazz bad with Matt Laug, who just became the new drummer for AC/DC. Peart was one of his inspirations, and he used to play this song note for note as early as 10th grade. You played a lot of those parts EXACTLY as he used to!! Great ear! Very well done. Very well done, INDEED!
Been following for like 6 years now... damn you've progressed!!!... lol... keep going lady...😊
Holy crap am I ever glad I watched that!
Awesome!!!!!!
Outstanding job Brooke! First time hearing you play. I’ve been playing guitar in gigging bands for 45 years and have covered quite a few Rush tunes over the years with some very good drummers. I’ll say I don’t know if any of those drummers could have played this any better than you. 👍👍😎😎🥁🥁🎼🎼
Wow ....Great playing ... Although I'm a guitar player, The Professor is one of my favorite musical minds of all time and I was fortunate enough ton have seen him live six times .... Very impressive indeed Brooke, keep up the great work ...
Big tune! You played it very well. RUSH is the greatest.
With this performance, I believe Brooke has made all the Swiss Watches envious!!! She must have shampooed with Peart???!!!!! 😮 ❤ 😊
Sick playing! I've watched Neil play this song many times. You nailed it. I like how you played right into the ride groove. Great job, Brooke 👏
Phenomenal Skills You Show‼️I Would gladly help you build a career. Let me know if you are interested.
LOL.. I just stumbled on this video.. my first thought was wow she is great and looks just like the drummer for Plush...haha...we saw you guys at Louder than Life and with Collective Soul in Blue Ash, OH... =D
Got to see them Perform this song live April 12th 1982
I was a Sophomore in high school.
You did an incredible job covering this very complicated Rush song
So GOOD! I have been a subscriber for a while and it has been awesome watching your timing/pocket/groove play grow. Looks, talent and dedication! Triple threat Girl! Awesome "Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd"!
hey Brooke, have you ever listened to Dancing On a Volcano by Genesis?? Would love to see if you could play it...Phil Collins was a lot better than I thought...pretty decent prog drumming :) take care, you drumming is so confident now...lovin your smooth fills.
You have self-elevated to a level not accessible to most of us. A Truly Outstanding Performance (ATOP). I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you!
My jaws dropped 😮 seriously excellent job Brooke!!! 🤘🏽🔥🔥🔥
Oh my goodness that TONE…. Your technique is amazing and the tuning perfection. Wonderful cover Brooke- gives me hope!
Very nice! However there's always one thing I listen for in a Subdivisions cover, and I never hear it...
Disclaimer, I'm a musician but I'm not a drummer so I may be wrong about this.
That little roll that ends the opening section... I hear two hits at the end of that, not one. Perhaps it's not quite a flam but it's similar. BrrrrrrrrrrBA-DAT. And everyone plays BrrrrrrrrPOP. Maybe I'm hearing it wrong, I don't know, but I hear it on Signals, I hear it live, I heard it at every show I attended (where they played it). I just listened to every version on Spotify and I hear it on all of them.
But all that being said, it's a very nice cover. Good work!
Brooke that was so awesome! PEART IS MY FAVORITE DRUMMER OF ALL TIME AND YOU DID THAT SONG RIGHT!!
Nice cover Brooke. Talented. ♥️
Good ghost notes on the snare. I always love good dynamics. Some drummers haven’t figured out, you can’t accent if you’re constantly at level 10 volume. Very tasty 👍❤️
Excellent cover. Relaxed, smooth, and fluid. Good work with the HH crossovers and ghosts.
Now go into “The Analog Kid.” 👦 lol Jk!
Honestly…? Great! Excellent playing, nailed it! And not an easy song (none of Neil’s are lol) Fantastic! 👍🏻😊🙏🏻
Phenomenol job my goddess!!!you are a badass!!and freaking beautiful too!! great job Brooke!!
I played this video as I started gaming. It was so good, I forgot it was a cover! Had to listen again and concentrate this time!! You’re playing and drum tone is so good Brooke. Awesome! 🤘❤️🔥🥁
Very, very impressive. Been watching you play for a long time, your ease of playing and technique is greatly improve. Perfect drum sound, that kick is madness. Just wow.
That. Was. PERFECT. So glad you showed up in my recommendations!
Amazing cover for any musician! But especially for someone of Brooke's generation - how did she even get exposed to Rush? Sure, in high school in the 80's they were all over the radio, but I haven't heard them in yrs, even on classic rock stations. Well done, Ms Brooke!!!
I loved the part between 0:00 to 5:32!
Fanfreakingtastic job, Brooke and with a smaller drum kit than Neal! You really did an amazing job, Bravo!
Very nice!
You already have tons of glowing comments here, so not sure if I'm actually added any value here.
I have 2 things in particular I'd like to say, though:
1. Nice left hand! The chatter adds a lot of personality. It's strong and musical, and it inspires me to work a little more on my weak hand.
2. You made it your own. Despite what some others have said, it wasn't "just like Neil," and that's a good thing! it was certainly accurate (like a Rush cover kind of needs to be), but lots of your personality came through, and it makes me look forward to seeing some original stuff from you (I'll look for some on your channel when I'm done typing here). I especially like that fact that, toward the end, although you weren't rushing (no pun intended), you were on top of the beat. That lent a bit of energy to the end. It showed me that you really enjoy playing, and I look forward to seeing more of that excitement.
Thanks!
Solid job, missed a few notes, but in all fairness it’s better than I could do at the moment. Good on ya, you got some great skills there miss. Much love. Peart is smiling down on ya❤️
Wow. Like others have said, nicely tuned. I was a young man when Rush was big. I was distracted for part of this performance and it sounded like I was listening to the original. Nothing flashy, over the top, just solid, skilled drumming.
Two things;
1. How long did it take you to master this highly complex Neil Peart classic to the point you could perform it so flawlessly and effortlessly?
2. Please help me pick my jaw up off the floor 😳🤯🫡
Really tight. In the pocket. Love your sound. Great drumming.
Almost there but ,awesome anyway🎼🥁👏🎼👏🥁👏🎵🤘🏻🎵🤘🏻‼️
And what wasn't quite there are really just nits to pick. "Pratt" would be proud.
@@YippeeSkippie426 just study some music first and then we talk , gracias 🎼🥁🎵🥁🎼🥁🤨🤨‼️
I don't know if anyone noticed but there was a slight glitch near the end but other than that...
...RESPECT!!!
Amazing drumming. Tight, clean, played with conviction and spot on parts. Awesome job!!!
Wow, just wow! I just discovered your channel Brooke, and you have some mad drum chops. Wish Neil could have seen this, I'm sure he would have enjoyed your rendition. I also watched a dozen or so of your old videos and I am so impressed with the depth an breadth of your song choices. You do not shy away from a challenge (e.g. Vicarious). Best wishes for your future in drumming, it's a joy to watch you!
I always worry that if I ever try to cover a Rush song on drums (which I am not yet at the level for, still learning much more basic) it will never work, since I don’t have Neil’s massive kit of like 50 different pieces in a full circle around him. So you’ve given me hope that it *is* possible with a slightly more “normal” kit setup (your gear is still great and sounds terrific). Nice job!
