As a 54 year old guy that's been a Rush fan for 40+ years, let me say just one word.....OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Tony Cowser same here ! Great band
Rush - YYZ
@@nascarman38n88 I wonder how many people know that YYZ is the airport code for Toronto Pearson International Airport? yes, that is what they used to come up with the legendary instrumental track!
Agreed!1
I second that!
As a 56 year-old guy, and a huge fan of Rush for 42+ years, I have just two words for you young lady...FRIGGIN OUTSTANDING!!! The “Professor” is looking down on you grinning that Neil Peart grin. Well done!
The BEST and CLEANEST cover I've seen of this song, and NO ONE plays the bells part, only Neil and now Brooke C. AMAZING.
She's always so smooth
Check out mike hetzels cover!
Check out Sinas Cover!
@@iandisalvo4366 Hetzel is amazing too !!!
I just threw my drum set in the river. I hope you're happy.
YouDummy 😭😭😭
I'm dying laughing because that's exactly the kind of feeling I just had. I'm right there with you, man, right there with you. 😆 😄☺😌😐😶😑😞
Lol!’
What River? ;-)
@@jlucasound @the " Rio Dummy" of course✌☺
Beautiful... just beautiful. You brought a tear to my eye, especially today.
R.I.P. Neil Peart.
best part of this video? When she CATCHES THE CYMBALS at the end!
Effortless!
As a long time Rush fan you made me cry.......keep the music alive......REST EASY PROFESSOR
SO GOOD TO SEE THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS EMBRACING THE GREAT SOUNDS OF RUSH !!!!!
I can only utter an AGREE! :) 💘
Was thinking the same.
Neil is Smiling from above!!! Nicely done Brooke!!! You Have Honored Him in a Superb Way!!! Thank you!!!
RIP Neil!!! Sympathies to Neil’s Family Alex& Getty!
😢
This popped up on RUclips again so had to watch it!!! All of your fills and playing match Neil Peart perfectly. You have a gift! Never ever stop playing. I have played drums for 47 years all by ear and professionally for around 10 years. Bands for 20 years. You are one of the best drummers I have ever listened to.
There's really nothing i can add that's not been mooted already. The sound was excellent, and you miss are a very technichally gifted percussionist...............thankyou for your amazing performances.............
You know how many Rush concerts we had go to back in the 70s and 80s to learn The Professors works. Saw every tour since 2112. We didn’t have video showing us his what he was doing. Sure we could get most by ear but Neil did things with his style you had to see it up close. In those days we got front row behind the stage or lodge on the side to see him play. And we watched in amazement! We never took our eyes off of Neil like the other two weren’t there. No offense to the other two they are Legendary status on their own. But he knew we wanted more and when technology caught up he put it out there for the next generations to learn and love. I’ve been drumming 50 years and I want to thank you for carrying a torch so his art will live on. Well done and God bless you, Neil, Alex, Geddy and the millions of fans especially those that waited in the Forum parking lot or Long Beach arena or Irvine Meadows all night for the best seats possible. And even those that drove down to SD to watch both shows and then 4 more in L.A. We’d do it all again so we could go home and play for hours with our band mates. Pass on what you have learned. Cheers!
Amazing. Even with today's tech and close up's of neil- nailing him is still an extremely difficult art to copy..........more kudos Brooke.
As a musician, I love nothing more than seeing young people get into music. When you see someone with this level of talent, its so inspiring.
Brooke: I hope you serve as an example to other "kids" to get into music.
Well done and keep up the amazing work!
Incredible! Fluid. Confident. No wasted effort or movement. Great job Brooke!
I've been playing for 64 years now, and of all the Rush songs I love to play, this one is my favorite. You captured the entirety of this song and played it the way it was supposed to be played. You did a fantastic job Brooke! I hope to see and hear you play more!
I've Never covered it better. I've been a studio drummer for 35 years! I've just never had the right feel, or style to cover Rush like you just did. Phenomenal job!!
wow, as a Rush fan of some 25 years I never thought I'd see a young girl drumming to Rush, after all you never saw any at their gigs! But seriously, great job Brooke, very few teen drummers would have the confidence to take on the amazing Mr Peart, and make it sound so good
Let alone teens listening to Rush :)
There's loads. And pre-teens nailing Zeppelin tunes. I feel obsolete at 52, lol.
In the last 15-20 years I’ve seen a lot of girls at Rush gigs.
Korey V ya because all the Rush geeks like myself got married and brought our wives. lol
I'm also a huge Rush fan. Peart is the best ever.
Maybe Geddy and Alex should give that kid a call, just in case they want to hit the road again! 😉
How fun would that be?? I’ll buy a ticket to their first show.
Oh that would be great. The last time I got to see them was in September of 2010 at the Woodlands Pavilion in Houston. It was an amazing concert. They made sure to play every song from the "Moving Pictures" album. As well as every hit from "2112" all the way to "Snakes and Arrows". RiP Neil🙏. But Alex, Neil, and Geddy have given a gift to the world that will live forever. Or at least as long as rock can carry it.
Yes!!!
..".. but glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity yeah"......will never be another.....what a tribute to The Professor
You are the most loose limber fluid drummer I've ever witnessed. You make it look effortless and easy. Awesome playing style !!
check out emmanuelle caplette i’ve rarely heard fills as smooth as hers.
Sad day today in the Rush world. Thank you for keeping his spirit alive.
Way to go girl! I've been playing professionally for 27 years and I still struggle with this song. RIP Neil Peart.
Yep me too, I now play Neil's sars gig version of spirit, busier but easier for me..........
Young lady, you are gifted beyond measure.
What an outstanding cover of a truly great drummer.
And yes, you made it look easy and I “know” it’s not.
Thank you!🙏
it's drummers like you that keep me wanting to just sell my drums and give up, lol... some are just born to play, and you ma'am, are one of those some. EXCELLENT work!!
She plays the HARDEST drum songs, with such ease and grace like it is nothing, where most other struggle, she just walks it ...
R.I.P. Neil Peart. You had the hands of God. End of story.
He would be very proud to see this young lady play his music.
Agreed, judging all the new hip hop, rap, pop rock shit that kids are listening to these days I can safely say Peart was and will always be the best drummer of all time, hands down.
Taylor Hawkins said this 🙄
@@Jac2788 Yes he did.
And ive loved and played Rush for decades and YOU'VE DONE THEM, and YOURSELF PROUD !!!!! Wonderful
I've seen a lot of drummers replicating Neil's drumming. And let me say you are one of the best drummers I've seen. You nailed it!! Nice job!
Brooke your a gift from the Gods. Your drumming skills are equal to some of the best...including Neil! Always a pleasure to hear you play
I've seen Rush twice in the early and late 80s. They are by far the best thing that Canada has ever produced. Thank you for that amazing rendition it will always stay on my playlist. The second would be Triumph and the third would be those two guys who called each other hosers🤣🤣 I remember the Mackenzie Brothers😁
Better than insulin? Maple syrup? Jordan Peterson?
I enjoy very well the virtuosity of this girl, the sound of the drum. Every choice is perfect.
I wish I looked that relaxed playing my drums 😭 nicely done
I love how Rush inspired so so many artists ! Love Rush and the way their music lives on :)
LOVE that you played the bells! I've seen a lot of covers of this song but you're the first I've seen pick up the mallets!. Great job!
Agreed!!! That's what makes THIS cover,so special!!! ;-)
It's called a xylophone. Bells are quite a different thing. ;)
@@mark-1234 I think they're glockenspiel.
@@mark-1234 Not a xylophone. Xylophone has wood keys. This is called bells, orchestral bells, or glockenspiel.
@@fitnessdevolution - My bad. Looked it up and you're right.
And with the xylophone awesome! There is something about this song that makes you feel like there is hope, even tho it’s about the love of radio back in the day.
As a drummer who spent hours jamming in various bands in 1979 to 1983 there wasn't many drummers about at the time so Rush albums like Moving pictures were an inspiration. It's great to hear 21st century drummers playing Ian Peart drums. I saw Rush play at Queens Hall in Leeds along time ago in the ancient mists of time and they were brilliant live, energetic and full of passion. Your a wonderful drummer, really enjoyed Spirit of Radio and brought back many happy memories so God bless you.
Our best music as a species is in good hands for the future. Thank you Brooke C.
Well said.
@ Brooke C WOW. This is an insane cover. I have been playing drumming to Rush songs for 35 years and even I can not nail it like you did, and I am a very good drummer. Props to you!!
Not only are you an excellent player, but you have awareness around the kit that draws a person in. Excellent!
From just outside of Toronto... where Rush is king. Bought my first Rush vinyl age 7...in 1981. Became a drummer because of Neil... he'd love watching you play.
As a Pollish RUSH fan what can I say..... BRILLIANT nothing more nothing less!!!!! 💕💕💕😀
Owned it! Neil is proud. All this young machinery makin' modern music...I love seeing our future.
I can air drum this really well.. Does that count?
Does it count ?? Of course it....don't !
It will have to in my case .
*.....What P.S.I. pressure you got that “air drum” set to?...*
@@stephenfiore9960 good one Steph, you're a hoot !👍
Not a chance! manguy😂
Bravo Young Lady! Your own the Right Path! No Greater Elders Music to Play! 😀
Neil would very proud of you young lady. Nicely done. (and I've been a Rush fan since 1977 so I KNOW 😁). KEEP ROCK AND ROLL ALIVE!!!
Been a RUSH fan for over 30 years. Very nice job.
That really is simply brilliant. So technically accomplished - a perfect cover. And you play with such a relaxed style, so polished. It feels/looks as if you doing it with ease and playing well within your abilities. No strain at all. Am blown away. Don't know how you do it. Bravo x 100!
I toured with RUSH,I was a lighting tech, and got to watch Neil every night for about 8 months, and let me just say,YOU FRECKIN ROCK GIRL.Keep it up Beautiful.
I'm lighting my kit on fire.... Thanks for that ! LOL.. Great cover !
Great cover! Those ride cymbal 8ths at that tempo can be hella tiring. Nice work!! Miss you Neil.
Wait... is this THE Brian Tyler?!
@@saml4332 it sure is
@P Harrell yep, 32nds
In English mate!!!
Awesome job! Very relaxed and tidy drumming. 👍🏾👍🏾
It's the 80's coming back thank God and thank you
Neil lives on through you, young lady. You are truly the next Professor.
Wow gr8 job! Awesome set up n love the bell part! Smooth transitions! Go girl!
The world needs 2 c more female drummers!
Would love to see the members of RUSH do a reaction to this.
With each Brooke C video, I'm more amazed. You are a breath of fresh air.
😎👍
Wow there it is some Rush Neil Peart what a great drummer can't believe he's gone wow well done Brooke you're a pro👍🥁🥁🥁
129 people gave thumbs down because they had too much peanut butter in their ears
For real, what gives?
129 a heck with it keep the 139👍

Maybe they had too much wax in their ears! With a little jealously as well.
@@rubenluna6457 I think a lot of build up
Great job Brooke! You did Neil Peart proud. One of my favorite percussionist. Please more Rush. Anything with roto toms is awesome!
you nailed it! and with half the pieces that most drummers surround themselves with. that's talent! and you got the xylo! 👍
watching I thought about 40 sec into...or there abouts...you realized..I got this...thx Brooke for your outstanding tribute...R.I.P. Neil...P. Brooke C.... has your six
Your cover was awesome! I don't think anyone expects any less from you anymore. I was talking with my son (a drummer like his Dad) about you yesterday and your Tool covers when the Rush covers subject came up. I almost had to laugh when I got the notification. It was 38 years ago when I started playing this. Even added concert toms to my kit to be like Neil. You're just amazing , young lady. BTW, now that you've opened the floodgates, you may as well do 'Moving Pictures' start to finish for us. For me playing that album ended up more fun than playing '2112'. I can't wait for what's next!
I just looked at your stats and I'm totally blown away-how does it feel to have almost 16 million 300 thousand views in a little under 3 and a half years?! That is so far beyond impressive. It's mind boggling. I'm quite proud of you and I don't even know you!
Now this is definitely odd!
Guillermo you were freaking great phenomenal awesome unbelievable
That was a beautiful tribute. Well done ma'am.
watch how she catches the cymbals near the end! My fave part!
First the Professor and now the apprentice. Genius steals... 👍
Brooke C. Never fails to impress. Great Job Young Lady! Great Job! Your skills are exceptional!
I watch and listen to your videos... I find you and them inspiring...I found this today... Screamed no F_____G Way... watched, listened to and enjoyed every second of it...
Wow!! Amazing. Super smooth. You make it seem effortless yet sound so powerful. My favorite song. One likes to believe In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity. Awesome.
Ok... yep... I officially just fell in love with you. 😍
I mean NEIL effin' PEART (R.I.P) ?!?!? Really!?!? ...wow...
Such an amazing tribute to an amazing drummer by an amazing drummer.
Thank you for keeping his memory alive.
Wow!! Been a Rush fan forever... Im sure Neil would be proud... Excellent job Brooke.
RUSH is one of my favorite bands, forever! Nice to hear you playing their songs! :-)
Awesum drumming! My favourite song from Rush.
Romzy Hamid I like the rockband rush.
Awesome !!! Neil is definitely smiling down from Heaven upon you . 👍👍
RUSH would be proud. An absolute joy watching you drum to a classic. Keep it up!
Blown away!!
This girl is Totally Amazing!!!
Your video was a lucky chance discovery I made, looking through all the material on RUclips.....I'm in awe of your mastery of the drums; drum techs did amazing job in prepping your rig for this Rush drum cover!! You clearly convey your driven focus on the drums--yet also I see you ENJOY playing the drums; that is the key to success ANYWHERE in life.
🤯 wow!
Brooke , you are freaking awesome!!!!!! Rush drumming can not be easy. You rocked it girl!
Never clicked so fast in my life! You finally tackled it! OMG great job Brooke
You ROCK!!!!!
B Caldwell “clicked” lol
Your a click
WOW Brook you are amazing, you make playing look so easy,,

Brooke!! This is epic!! Everything you play is awesome! Absolutely amazing. Well played.
🤘❤️🔥🥁
im 65 years young and have been a Rush fan since 1974 , and it was there music that inspired me to learn guitar , so yeah im a Rush nerd 😀 young lady you absolutely nailed that song . Outstanding job that would make Neil proud 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You played this with so much finesse! Rock out!!!
Having seen every Rush tour since the Moving Pictures Album I must say you nailed it. Awesome job!
Practice man, Practice. I mean the xylophone too??!?!?!? Awesome. Girl, you got it going on.
HOLY JEEZE !!!! You my dear are unbelievably awesome and no doubt are and can Rock It !!!! 👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Playing Rush songs are the ultimate challenge for any drummer, you did a good job.
Mark Catalano I can think of songs way harder than Rush even as a fan for 30 years.
Exactly. Neil Peart is pretty basic compared to many others out there that possess a talent way beyond that of neil peart. I'm a rush fan too, but anymore, I can't help but to admit that Neil Peart is probably one of the most overrated drummers that there has ever been.
What others
Yeah but rush songs are not easy by any means.
Bonkers. Completely bonkers. You better find a Geddy and Alex to keep that awesomeness going!
YES THANKS!!! YOU ARE AWSOMETASTICAL Brooke C (awesome fantastic and magical)
Crazy good ! 🤘😛
I love that RUSH doesn’t have just one “age group” as their fan. They have caught the attention and inspired all ages thru their 45 yr careers. That’s what “legends” and “rock Gods” do ! .... they appeal to the masses of ALL ages, all walks of life. Well done !
We’ll miss you Neal!
🕊🤘🕊
Great job Brooke! Rush isn't easy, but you smashed it!
Been a huge Rush fan since the early 70s' and this is one my favorite tunes from them. And let me say. You nailed it. Great job. I think you should go on tour with them this Summer.
Brings back memories of H.S. Band. We had a vertical bells/chimes set, so me (the drummer) and my bass playing buddy would practice Closer to the Heart among other songs in late night band room sessions! Good times!
Awsome tribute to the best drummer in the world....Mr Neil Peart.....the professor....Excellently played 🤘
Good drum mix and drum sound. Great job on this classic Rush song! And that looks like a nice recording studio.
Brooke you need to do more rush covers i want to see you do YYZ or Tom Sawyer or CygnusX-1 Hemispheres
I'm thankful for keeping the music alive and actually playing something so 'classical' and the best progressive band on the planet.
Great job!
You are incredible Brooke. I've been playing Rush on bass and guitar since 85, and I definitely want to jam with you. But, you're still better than the drummers I've played Rush tunes with in the last 35 years.
Brooke, You are the REAL deal!!! Keep Music in your heart always.....
A fantastic work out of the kit there Brooke , and a top choice of track with some classic rush 10/10.🙆
Nice dedication to one of the greats! Also nice to see someone using octobons! Very Stewart Copeland (Another drummer i admire and sadly try to mimic! 😉😁) Thanks for helping keep the classics alive!
As other folks have mentioned, compliments on your precision & flow. Keep up the great work.
This is not easy. Not even close. What a performance. Great job.
