    This cover is truly impressive. What impresses me more however is the thought process it took Neil to come up with the drumming for this song. Neil never made things easy, always pushed himself to make the best music possible. RIP.

    I've yet to see any drummer recreate Neil's work as well as you do. These videos are such a tribute to him, and inspiring to us. It's a testament to how much Rush's music speaks to the soul.

    I’m speaking for myself about this. But as a fellow drummer. We play this music and we get really good at it. We find a level of satisfaction. We listen back and think we nailed it, and, we did. The difference. Creation and re-creation. At the end of the day. All we really did was struggle and strain to replicate. Therein lies the proverbial rub. As good as we think we are, we are, in the end just playing Neil’s music.

    • @joconnell8145

      But, with those invaluable skills you are primed for making original music in your own band. I was able to do that briefly, many years ago.

    • @kens8868
      @kens8868 2 года назад +3

      Also a former drummer this is what turned me on to Rush originally. Neil's obvious chops, but the originality in each and every song. Sure there are faster, more technical drummers out there but will they ever be given the music to be as original and thus as creative as The Professor?

    No wonder they were called Rush
    Every song is just that.
    Neil peart was the master of that monstrosity of a drum kit
    It never felt overdone though
    In fact he made you want more.
    How did he pull it off with so much class and precisness..but not braggadocious.
    He put in a fill wherever he could
    That just seemed impossible to move that fast.. just utilizing and moving around the whole drum kit Like he was having fun but wasnt trying hard.
    He was the pioneer of 3 dimensional drumming when everyone else at the time was 1 or 2 dimensional before him
    Im sure all the other drummers at that time such as steve Smith,Porcaro,Copeland and all the others must have been floored when they heard this band
    kick out such masterpieces...
    What a gamechanger he was.
    Im glad I was lucky to be around and grow up listening to this legend.
    God bless him..
    So sad Will miss you Neil!

    Sterling, January 9th 2020 I went to bed late because I stayed up late watching your cover videos from the entire signals album. The next day is when the news came down of Neil's passing. Well, here we are a little over a year later oh, the world is just as crappy if not worse, and I'm sitting here medicating on you playing permanent waves. What a blessing. Especially the middle orchestral section in Jacob's Ladder. If this channel ever goes away, I will need therapy. Thank you so much

    Just a friendly observation; your right arm is really tense and your drums seem uncomfortably out of reach. I get that you want to set up your drums like Neil. That was cool for him but you are your own musician and his setup for you looks unnatural. Your motions are stiff. Try setting your drums up the way that works for you. It looks like a forced set up. You can play Neil’s parts without trying to be like him visually.

    • @siamhie
      @siamhie 3 года назад

      I think it's because of the placement of the over head camera. There's another drummer I follow (Aquiles Priester) and when the video shows his over head shot, it looks like his right hand is similar to this.

    • @mikesecret8221
      @mikesecret8221 2 года назад

      That song is really tiring to play because the tempo is so fast for those right hand 16th’s. I’ve been playing it since it came out and that’s just how it plays. When it switches to the ride it’s always “whew!, thank God I can recover!”. Like Tom Sawyer, but looonger, LOL. It’s a workout.
