If the ball is not caught, how it contacts the ground is the primary factor. Secondly, punting for pure distance can be more than offset by the punt return. There needs to be distance _and_ height, or hang-time to allow coverage.

Where was the "backspin" on that one? Yes, he has a powerful leg but as I said, you have to match punt height to the punt's distance.

It helps the ball get to the destination quicker and hopefully before a defender can get onto your man. Getting extra height on a kick isn't difficult, but it's not really done.

Excellent to see a kicker with that much power and accuracy utilized properly. That was a strategic master class in how a kicker can win you the game without having to hit field goals. Do not give the other team the ball on your side of the field. Brilliant.

It’s insane how many good punters are from Australia. Tory Taylor - bears, Michael Dickson- Seahawks, Mitch wishnowsky - 9ers, Matthew hayball- saints, are all good punters playing in the league, along with others in recent years. Also somethin I just learned is the ray guy award (best punter in college) was won by an Aussie punter in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. That’s crazy.

I was thrilled with this pick and this game he put on a clinic. He sure as hell should have gotten a game ball for that. The Bears knew they'd be doing a fair amount of punting this year and why not get the best one in the game?

I've watched this kid for the last 3 years, season tickets at Iowa, and it's an understatement to say he maybe the best accurate punter I've ever seen, there was a punter from Iowa named Reggie Roby that was fantastic also.
