Punting in the NFL is a curious thing. First, "backspin" on a punted football barely exists and would be mostly a non-factor anyway due to the shape of the ball. If the ball is not caught, how it contacts the ground is the primary factor. Secondly, punting for pure distance can be more than offset by the punt return. There needs to be distance _and_ height, or hang-time to allow coverage.

@@nautgamingnautgaming9949 yeah, people throw out the word “bust“ like they know. It’s quite laughable. How could you possibly know his mental capacity?! Caleb is legit and only time will tell. Can’t use the word bust until years down the line. Anyone judging rookie QBs four games into their career doesn’t know ball. I’m sure a fans were calling Troy Aikman a bust two years into his career. Or Peyton Manning, who still holds the record for the most interceptions for a rookie QB. Everyone expects a performance right now and it just doesn’t work that way. People who know ball and we’ve been watching it for years understand how this works. But you’re entitled to your opinion.

Tory Taylor - bears, Michael Dickson- Seahawks, Mitch wishnowsky - 9ers, Matthew hayball- saints, are all good punters playing in the league, along with others in recent years. Also somethin I just learned is the ray guy award (best punter in college) was won by an Aussie punter in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. That’s crazy.
