It’s a sakaaran messenger ship, eh? That one throwaway sentence is actually a huge clue about what’s coming to the MCu in Phase 6. This ship sets up not only a Planet Hulk movie, but a new cosmic crossover with the Eternals, Hercules, and even introducing a new Young Avengers: Skaar, the son of Hulk. I’m going to explain the comic story his is based on, and what all of this means next for the MCU.
First of all, it’s interesting that Bruce knows it’s a sakaaran messenger ship. Remember, he was unaware of his entire time on sakaar [clip]. But now he knows that this is not just a sakaaran ship, but it’s also a messenger ship. Now he did fly one of these Sakaaran ships, but that one was an orgy yacht [clip]. But somehow Banner knew this one was for sending messengers. In our easter egg video I propped that this is because when he merged with the hulk, they shared their memories and this created a mutual understanding between the two.
Remember that theory-because it's going to be important later in the video.
So a few months ago we started hearing rumors about a world war hulk movie.
Doug: What’s world war hulk?
Well it’s a comic story I’m going to tell you all about. It all started with the Illuminati, you know, like in dr strange [reed exploding, death montage?]. IN the comics, the Illuminati were the leaders of different hero teams, who did all the dirty jobs in secret. This included sending the hulk away from earth ona space ship, where heh was meant to live on an uninhabited planet.
Obviously this pisse off the Hulk, he tore up the ship, and drove it into a wormhole, which made him land on planet sakaar. [jeff holdblum playing keyboard]
So Sakaar in the comics is similar to Sakaar in the movies. Sakaar in the movies was a junk planet covered in wormholes-where time moved very slowly [goldblum, any other planet I’d be…]. The planet was ruled by the Grandmaster, who loved staging gladiator competitions put on by his slaves [i don;t like the at word].
Of course ragnarok ends with the overthrow of the grandmaster [the revolution had begun]. Like I said, events played about a bit different in the comics,a dn way more complex.

Just like in the movie, Hulk lands on Sakaar-a mostly desert world whose people are ruled by a tyrant called the Red King. The red king holds gladiator competitions-and he quickly captures Hulk and places a control chip on his chest.
Hulk and some other gladiators form a War Bound-basically a group of warriors who swear to fight beside one another.
Kind of like a ka-tet, Thankee-sai. Hulk and his war bound free themselves from the control of the ships, and leave the city for the countryside. The people oppressed by the Red King believe the Hulk has been sent to lead them-there might be a prophecy, if memory serves? The hulk’s blood even affects the poisoned soil of Sakar, allowing plants to grow wherever he has bled on the dirt.

The more I think about it, the more Young Avengers needs to be a TV show, where each character (or in Wanda's case, the twins) gets a solo moment of proving themselves, and then the end scene or post-credit scene is White Vision recruiting them, as he did in the comics. Then the final episode is them working as a team, before facing the REAL threat in the movie.
Yeah, I get that it is somewhat a repeat of What If season one to a degree, but it is the only story-arc that flows well given all we have so far.
But I guess we'll know more in 3 weeks...
I really hope we get a Planet/World War Hulk movie because I think it could help win people over who don’t like Ruffalo's portrayal of the Hulk. I think he’s done fine considering the circumstances surrounding the rights situation, but he really needs a solo project. If he was cast to play the character from the beginning people would be less hard on him. Plus they could introduce Beta Ray Bill.
Is it just me or did She-Hulk look CGI the entire time? Even the hair. It all just looks...off.

I think the problem is with Mark Ruffalos’s Hulk isn’t necessarily with Ruffalo. For me I personally believe that the character of Hulk has been majorly misused, especially in the case of “Smart Hulk”. Today I watched an old Avengers (2012) clip introducing him and it was phenomenal. The writing for Hulk has just generally gone down hill.

I LOVED the World War Hulk comics.
It wasn't just that he went around fighting dudes left and right. There were a lot of other smaller stories that intermingled with it.
Including from the OG Civil War comics, since World War Hulk takes place afterwards.
The Young Avengers ACCIDENTALLY fuck up a production line of Tony's power disabling Nanites, which were eventually loaded into the Hulk Buster armor and it blasts a dud at Hulk when Tony thinks he's got it under control.
But he doesn't.
Hulk winds up building a coliseum in the middle of New York, capturing the members of the Illuminati, The Avengers, and anyone who directly gets in his way and enslaves them with the same devices that were put on his Warbound on Sakar. He mostly sticks to the Coliseum forcing the Heroes to fight each other for his entertainment, making them believe they will all fight to the death.
Hulk never once wanted to murder anyone, however. He wanted to punish the people who betrayed him and ultimately ruined his one chance at happiness.
It even bleeds into the Vicious Cycle arc of the Ghost Rider comics, and when Zarathos nukes Manhatten with Hellfire and sees the Hulk unphased, Stephen Strange shits himself and tells Reed Richards that they're all fucked because Zarathos only punishes the wicked and he fucks off from the Hulk fight, deeming his crusade to be morally righteous (plus he was kind of in the middle of hunting down Satan, and Johnny was being a thorn in his side).
He outsmarted Stephen Strange in combat, because Stephen enters his mind to try and reason with Bruce to bring him to the surface and pacify the Hulk.
And when he gets there, he finds that Bruce and Hulk are working together and Bruce helps Hulk break out of the magic illusion and they crush Stephen's hands to prevent him from casting anymore spells.
While I know we can't follow that particular chain of events in the movies, it would be a hell of a treat to see Hulk lose his shit and become such an unstoppable force of destruction that it calls for a cross-over event to stop him.
What if we got Wolverine vs Hulk that way? I would cream myself if Hugh Jackman agreed to come back for it.
With all the multiverse stuff going on right now, it could even be an alternate reality story. A universe where Hulk and Bruce never come to terms with one another, and Hulk becomes the dominant personality. Maybe he DID take over Sakar in another reality, and World War Hulk might involve an Incursion story where they have no choice but to defeat an alternate reality Hulk and destroy his timeline in order to save their own.
Lots of nerd rambling here, but I'm just gushing over the possibilities they could go for.
Didn't happen like that ...... That's like 3 different comics/ battles combined into one.
The ghost rider part was one of my favorite parts of world war hulk. I feel like it would be essential to the movies

Wolverine vs. Hulk is a battle I really hope we get in the next couple phases. Throw in Hercules vs. Hulk as well. I want him causing twice as much carnage as Scarlet Witch in MoM. I feel he’d have a lot more freedom as a villain.
The Planet Hulk storyline and Gladiator Guidebook were some of the best world building Marvel ever did. It was a shame that Sakaar was handled so superficially in Ragnarok. Hopefully the MCU does it right the 2nd time around!

Something happened after they crashed and while Jen was running through the woods...the ship didn't just leave without delivering the message.
If Banner did have a child and he has memories of his time as Hulk then I think he would take the initiative himself to go to Sakar and find his son rather than his son coming to find him.
He doesn't seem to be the person who would ignore such a matter.
Maybe he doesn't know he has a kid , he mated with girl but that doesn't necessarily mean he will have kids , so maybe he doesn't know that the woman he mated with gave a birth to his child bcuz kid may have born after he left sakaar

I believe in June 2023 sometime Marvel can get the rights back to the Hulk stuff so they can make movies again. Was around a 15 year contract that was stopping them from doing it before.
Something I've seen a few times recently is that Universals distribution deal ends in 2023. If so, and Marvel basically gets full rights to Hulk movies after that, seeding a movie now definitely lets them put a Hulk movie into Phase 6.
Personally, I wouldnt mind if they loosely used the Hulk Vs movies as a seed for a Planet Hulk movie, using his relationship with other MCU characters to drive him off planet and towards Sakaar, but a straight up invite from there wouldnt hurt either. But the Vs movies shows how Hulk crosses so many other groups, and would also be a simple way to integrate X-Men, or even Deadpool into the MCU.
It wouldnt be hard to tweak those stories into something with a multiverse theme. Alternatively, something to do with the Thunderbolts would also work. Have them drive him off planet, and look into the Sakaar invite more.
But the main point of the post is pointing out that Universals deal apparently expires next year, opening the way for any of these to happen.

plenty good ideas here, I especially liked the last one on how to write Hulk out of the MCU, obviously it's got to happen, they all do at some point and giving Bruce/Hulk domain over Sakaar would be a nice way to do it. Out the way enough that there's no need to have him in any more project but is always there just incase they want to throw in a cameo.
I think the big payoff/reveal on this is going to come as a post credits scene of the She-Hulk finale episode.

I get a feeling by now that it could be already a small build up to planet hulk/world war or breaker Hulk, maybe it’s just a message from people of Sakaar in search of help because of some villain who’s enslaving them again for fights and stuff, the ship didn’t even fired when it appeared.

Would be too fast if he’s already having a son and by now a growing family with Jenn, plus Marvel has him still caught in his alter-ego-problem.

Skaar may show up, dont think hes gonna be hulks son. The MCU mostly gear their content to the casual fan, everyone dosent read the comics, theyd have a time trying to explain who and HOW hulk hid the zucchini with on sakaar and what took so long for bruce to even acknowledge this. Way too confusing
I think it'd make total sense for Hercules to be on Sakaar, the last place people new of Thor was most likely there, but instead he gets stuck like Thor and has to fight his way out as well

Would love if a 'red king' type character has taken over Sakar since Ragnarok and the ship is looking for hulk to bring him back for a planet hulk storyline (with Beta Ray Bill!!)
Seeing on how I didn't read it or see the animated version.. but one character I hope they bring back in the show or World War Hulk is Doc Samson.. because he was introduced in the 2008 Incredible Hulk movie but it didn't go anywhere as well as the Leader.

I can't see them doing Planet Hulk again after what they did in Thor Ragnarok. If they're doing World War Hulk, they'll need to get straight to it. They'll need Savage Hulk back, and in order to do that, Hulk will need to experience some extreme tragedy and want to get revenge. I think it could be right that Hulk has a girlfriend and kid on Sakaar. Maybe that ship takes him back to Sakaar and seeing his family again causes Hulk to retake control. Then Tragedy has to strike, again someone could sabotage the ship Hulk arrived on causing it to explode and Hulk blames it on the Avengers. Hulk and Skaar travel back to earth and the most epic battle starts against all of earth's mightiest heroes.

I reckon Banner/Smart Hulk has already been back which is when he collected Hulk's gladiator Helmet. He knows why the ship was there from the time between accident and finding She-Hulk outside the bar. If the ship was there for Banner/Hulk it wouldn't have just flown off hence his 'Have to deal with that' . And if it's true the origin story was supposed to go into ep8 it's probably something that will be revisited later in the season and originally more fleshed out.

How could you not LOVE World War Hulk? The Hulk goes sickhouse on everyone for 6 issues, it was awesome. The one scene I would die to see adapted is his encounter with Black Bolt, likely won't happen due to there being no Black Bolt in the main MCU continuity.

The new leader on Sakaar is the one that it should’ve been from the beginning, the red king. The grandmaster being overthrown allowed a power vacuum to be filled by a dictator. The Sakaarans want Bruce to come back to clean up his mess. This can lead to World War Hulk

You forget that the Grandmaster did not lose the revolution on Saqara - the post credits scene showed him acknowledging both sides and declaring the conflict a tie.
"Violent revolutions to overthrow dictators tend to install just another dictator." The Hunger Games is a perfect example of that.

Bruce Knows that was a Sakaarian Messanger’s ship. Because he has The Hulk‘s memories. He is no longer Just Bruce, nor Just The Hulk, he is a New being with both of their memories, he also calls Valkyrie, by the Nick name he gave her as the Hulk, “Angry Girl” in Endgame.
The reason why the Bruce’s personality is more prominent, is simply because Bruce’s mind was much more developed than The Hulk’s.

I think they're setting up The Thunderbolts movie to play out World War Hulk. If my theory is correct they would have to further expand on the Planet Hulk storyline (II really or the consequences of his time on Sakaar) in She-Hulk and other films before introducing Red Hulk.
I've been arguing that smart Hulk is just Banner suppressing Hulk, same as Hulk suppressed Banner on Sakar.
Hulk is in a box in Banner's head, Hulk doesn't even know that Natasha is dead.
Could this be the foundation of World War Hulk? Maestro/Hulk learns of Natasha's death...
This storyline will really benefit Hulk, but I still don't get one thing, In the Comics, Hulk was the main PoV of this story line though In the MCU he's Smart Hulk, so that'll really change Hulk's motivations if they adapt this storyline

Gladiator fights are more associated with Ancient Rome, and, in point of fact, "Hercules" is the Roman name for the Greek hero Heracles.
Why did the ship just disappear after running them off the road? Is it plausible that it came all the way to Earth, almost kills it's recipient, and flies off? It feels out of place.

When Jen transformed and ran away, it was still in a daylight, and it was dark when she gets to the pub. Maybe during that time Bruce met up with the person in the ship.

Steve Rogers is Peter Quill's great-grandfather.
In Captain America : The First Avenger at 50:29 Steve meets an autograph seeker played by Laura Haddock (the same actress who plays Meredith Quill).
The movie highlights the meeting...with her catching Steve's eye, a camera flash, and a sound cue.
That woman, could easily be Meredith Quill's grandmother, Star-Lord's great-grandmother.
Peter Quill having a genetic connection to Captain America/Steve Rogers, could explain why, out of all of Ego's children, only Peter could carry the celestial gene.

In Ragnarok on Asgard the Hulk cut his arm on the floor of the seabed while fighting Fenris spilling lots of Hulk blood- when Asgard exploded it sent his blood hurling into space.
Hey I just rewatched age of ultron and I’m pretty sure the iron man mask that’s at banner’s bungalow is the mask from ultron’s first body where he interrupts the avenger’s after party
