that's practically entire gimmick of the line, being able to utilize 100% of the super heals instead of being limited to ~2 uses with marginal returns on the rest you could remove the F button while normalizing cool-downs and that strength would be still there
After playing it for a while. This is a ship to actually get out there and ask everyone to shoot you while you trying to wrap up that combat instructions as soon as possible. Only ships that have ability to delete you in one shot is going to be your worst nightmare but overall, if your survived a salvo you can just print a new ship and after heal expired, activate the combat instructions to quickly refresh the 3D printer. Ready for a round 2. Rinse and repeat. It can be a little gremlin and annoys everyone. Sure AP will do pathetic damage but that’s a good thing. Because you want to keep enemy that you shoot alive as long as possible to gain that combat instruction. This thing is the only cruiser that doesn’t afraid of BBs even if that is a British BBs. You can Yolo with this thing too if you know how to use it. If you want to counter this. Just be prepared to kill this thing ASAP and make sure you need more than 2 Cruisers. Heck even more than a BC if this Pan American Cruisers captain knows what they are doing. CVs will do the trick? Well last time I check, this thing has 6.9km AA range. Although torpedoes will do the trick to take this thing down but I recommend to take this thing down before it gains Combat Instruction.
Have to say, I LOVE the balance in this line based on the combat inst. So tanky and strong if you set yourself up right! And far from worthless if not. Not to mention the entire line is fun! A rare well done to wg on this one imo! o7
This ship can be an excellent counter to something like a Schieflen pushing if you can pop out from behind an island and surprize yolo torp witn combat instructions at the ready for use (which you got from farming the same ship at range earlier). Hehehe.... Yes I have very evil thoughts....
I will admit, I was very worried about the entire line. When I started playing the lower tiers they weren't... Really that good, and my abilities as a good player were clearly lacking. However, since playing it a bit more I've really come to appreciate the gimmicks it has, and it's actually rather fun to play. Yes, if you're not careful you will be blown out of the water so hard you'll feel it in the next 3 matches, but if you manage to stay alive and manage your health well, you can be an incredible annoyance to any ship on the map, and that's just great.
@Potato Quality , you should try out numbered and top grade gunner , when ur kiting from a heavy push , it gives you very good dispersion and increases ur speed , gives u some very tight grouping i didn't take incoming fire alert . priority target is enough for me. its an amzing ship
Idk if it’s a quirk with the improved AP or one with the armor of hindy/clausewitz, but I’ve gotten odd cits on hindy/claus at 15km with both the santander and san martin, it’s way better than most people expect it to be
To test the full AA build you just need to play the game in the convoy mode. These days you can find 99% of the CVs there. I tried the full AA build with the Worcester by putting myself near the convoy and after the second attempt to attack the convoy with planes the CV (a Midway or a Malta I don't remember exactly) started directing its attentions to easier targets. 😂😂
My favorite light cruiser ist still the Austin. It’s outright hilarious what this ship can do to other other ships when that reload booster is active, especially to enemy DDs. My record is a tripple strike with SAP.
i enjoyed playing up this line, the only bad part is not having HE. it kind of suck when ships stay bow on and you do so little damage. and yes, it would be nice if they changed the penalty for not quite getting enough hits to activate the combat instructions, so many times you get so close just to run out of targets for a while and lose all your progress.
People underestimate the value of just stalling the game. That's why Petro and Kremlin are great ships having over 50% overall winrates despite not having the best damage outputs. If the game is not a blowout you are sure to do some good work in San Martin.
Are you saying that is fun to be the enemy BBs piñata? Other than being able to stay alive while pushing/being focused AND you have something to shoot at you are good. Everywhere else is mediocre, like seriosly is pretty bad when you shoot a cruiser and get non pens or richochets in the superstructure. Feels like it lacks the pen angle and pen power. Idk, surviving is fine, but everything else feels bad man
I have Santander and Almirante Grau, but not San Martin, so I could be wrong. Your take on the San Martin risks looking silly a year from now. Light cruiser weakness seems just baked into the current meta. The issue of getting easily deleted at first sighting has to be resolved, and this combat instructions approach probably doesn't get it done. Especially now at T 10 with all the Malta and to a lesser degree, the 305mm battlecruiser spam. I get that people want to find reasons to think they've found the holy grail (a competitive CL), but people also want to find a likeable, trustworthy politician, don't they? I'm tempering expectations. Any light cruiser is target A-1. Odd situation, given that historically, the difference between light and heavy cruisers was just a distinction of six inch or eight inch guns. I don't even know how consistently the armor mirrored the gun caliber in the 1930's and 40's. WG seems to have designed light cruisers with wildly inferior upper citadel and deck armors, which has become something of a balancing conundrum for them. I surmise that they're hoping this big healing gimmick will solve the problem. I'm skeptical.
Part of the problem is that ship designs changed a lot from WWI to WWII, which the game tries to be inclusive of. Fighting a WWII ship from a WWI one would have these kinds of results.
@@LoanwordEggcorn It was a retoricall question to point out the original posters apparent simple disdain for the light cruiser concept. Some people want light cruisers to be and do something other than what they designed them for. At which point I believe they should play another ship class rather than seeking light cruisers to be something other than their basic concept. Furthermore the naval treaties really didn't do anything to restrict light cruisers - it was really about the much bigger capital ships.
LOL I don't know man. I don't have it but I've seen it all the time blow up in two salvos. To me is not hard to kill no matter what angle they are. You probably play with paid actors lol.
You aren't supposed to be showing yourself in this ship when legit threats (like over matching guns) can easily reach out and touch you. So many people simply don't understand CL gameplay and flat out play them grossly wrong.
This time I disagree with you. San Martin has a really poor damage output, which never allows her to be decisive at crucial moments. Unfortunately, I think there are really many other ships that do everything the San Martin does, but better.
The way it works in this ship typically (and most CLs) is you do things to get the enemy DDs killed or kill them yourself then you use your superior detection to get into positions where you can rape the enemy of points to win game You don't score your points from big damage totals typically - it's from killing DD's, spotting damage, capping, torps (if you have them), or in some cases wrecking tons of planes, that sort of thing. You are the ultimate DD bully and/or team supporter normally in a CL - but this ship is a little different because it is made to brawl to a limited degree in a pinch. Its intentionally gimped by Wargaming to not have HE or it would actually be overpowered in an experienced CL player's hands (Envision enhanced Cleveland with torps AND superheal with CI to get it back faster- that would be nutty). It is a natural choice in div with say a Thunderer/Yamamoto and (fill in the blank) ______ gunboat DD. This ship has torps to help make up for the lack of HE and the torps enhance it's ability to brawl and become a real threat (especially if you have completed combat instructions at the ready).Under the right circumstances on certain maps in particular these ships can be devastating yolo torpers (that survives) actually. Some ships are better in certain teams than others and this ship gives the dedicated CL player another choice to work with.
Also San Martin can heal 80% of all damage taken (including citadel damage) while Mino can heal only 50%.

It's a refreshing breath of fresh air to see a line that actually rewards contact with the enemy.

Im glad im not the only one accidentally misclicking dfaa instead of radar in these ships lmao
Reassign the keys.
Curious why not consumables enhancement at the 2nd line of captain skills over priority target...since you take incoming fire alert anyway?
Have to say, I LOVE the balance in this line based on the combat inst. So tanky and strong if you set yourself up right! And far from worthless if not. Not to mention the entire line is fun! A rare well done to wg on this one imo!

There are ZERO content creators who just talk about map tactics in WoWs. PLEASE be the trailblazer on this!
Orkan gameplay please. Some reds says Orkan is a bad dd :D

I like the Pan American CLs and the new European DDs, both from early access. The radar on the Split DD is very useful.

Sometimes all you need to do is prevent the reds from overwhelming a flank, while your team cleans up the other.
Seems to me it is the hybrid version of Worcester and minotaur
They were seen together behind that island about 9 months ago.........
Been having a blast in this in ranked
If I’m gonna play tier x cruiser it’s gonna be a venny
I agree with you

Wouldn't giving a LIGHT Cruiser heavy armor then make it a HEAVY Cruiser??
@@toddashley407 It's more about the guns than the armor. The naval treaties mostly focussed on gun size allowed.

This is a low impacting line, only playing vs total noobs will allow you to do some damage.
"light" cruiser with 54k health....

It's extremely good actually, PQ is right.
Or what you're seeing is bad players playing the ship.
It is a good ship, unless you are getting shot at by yammy or yammy+ guns. It eats cits from ever angle vs 18.1 and up
