The Sherman trade-in thing is because it's the best way to indirectly convert coal to doubloons, I don't think it has anything to do with how difficult it is to play. You could get a free doubloons excclusive T8 (or even some T9?) that way and as you said, just get the Sherman back alter or immediately, for those who have loads of coal.
Agreed ! I love the Sherman, but I traded it in for the Bayard. Oh boii I don't regret. Bayard is even more fun than Sherman imo. One of the better T8s Yet, Sherman is absolutely excellent I feel like. It can be outgunned but it's an excellent DD finisher when we speak about other gun boats or just a DD killer like that poor shimakaze
Same for me, though I Didn't get Sherman back (yet)... never got her to really sing for me, but I still need to get a decent feel for DDs in general... Karl though, now THAT's a DD for me!
I bought my first F Sherman and then immediately traded it in for Karl Johan. The next day, I re-purchased my second F Sherman and traded it for the Minegumo. I will eventually purchase a Sherman for myself but K14J and Minegumo are very rare and you currently can't obtain them any other way.
I laugh a bit when I see all this love for the Sherman. I spent my first 3yrs in the Navy on a Forest Sherman DD. The Shermans were okay DD's but nothing special. The speed issue does carry over. Much slower than the WW2 dds.
I am learning quickly to NOT use this ship as a spotter, which pisses everybody off on your team. You get ahead of your support ships on your own and you'll be the first boat to die, my first three games I didn't even get a shot off.
This may not up your alley, but since you mentioned the Sherman being more difficult to play, I would be very interested in a video showcasing the ships (top 5, maybe) you think have the highest skill floor; e.g. the Sherman, Colbert, etc.
I traded mine in. Not only a coal to dubs conversion, it was one of the highest trade in values. And I wanted to pick up the Karl and the Minegumo for availability reasons. Now to get it back ;)
The Sherman needs to be able to fire it's torpedos off axis. I read somewhere that was the intention but the feature was not ready at the time theay wanted to release it. Even if that is not true it still needs to be able to fire those torpedoes off axis like Defence or St Vincent. It is after all a 1960s or so design so it would not be unreasonable. Even a say 30 degree arc would be useful but someting like 180degrees would be grandy dandy.
@@ElmwoodCertified i dont know if its on modstation, its on aslins modpack, one shows the smal color coded dot, one shows the green circle that fills and empties
I don't play a lot of DD's but for me Sherman is easier to play than Marceau. I get myself in all sorts of problems with that speed, whereas I treat Sherman like a light cruiser and I do really well.
I love my sherman my build is close range dd but how i play is close range i got 12.6 range but 6.5 conceal but its kinda hard to et some dmg but im able to do 180k dmg even tho i got low range but i help my dds win against gunboat ships and i enjoy playing and use that as a credit printer but then i play other freemiums
I don’t think Sherman is hard to play. It’s just down right worse at its job than Marceau. Sure it has near heavy cruiser level dpm, but it has no speed, no concealment, no armor, and not even that much hp by today’s standards. While Marceau is the best dd brawler we can acquire by normal means. Shiptools now has a new page that allows you to compare ship win rates for different player skill brackets, and in all those brackets Sherman is at the bottom 2 in terms of win rate, only slightly better than elbing. In fact, they play quite similarly as well due to shared weaknesses. I’m not sure why elbing is “bringing a cruiser to a dd slot” while Sherman is “hard to play”.
Traded in my Sherman for a Karl and have no regrets. It’s not a bad ship but it’s very situational unless you’re a top player. If you don’t have spotters and go against cruisers or even bcs your basically wrecked too fast and it’s a gunboat that can’t gunboat and all the other gunboat dds dunk on you. So it can be fun but only if the match goes your way.
I had a game with Wisconsin where I managed to pop both Halsey buffs. So I had a Wis with around 11km detect, and by the end of the game, with AR, and one arms race reload buff, I would have a 7 SECOND reload when popping Wis' special instructions. Mad.
Sherman huh, actually served on two of them, no where to be found on console. But then no surprise, console game is about 60% content of what the pc one is.
exhibit A on why this game is absurd. Fired 1436000 5 inch main gun rounds in less then 20 minutes. More rounds than the entire US navy combined for the entirety of WW2 and the guns aren't even warm to the touch. Pathetic. I can't understand peoples liking for this. It's so far into the realms of absurdity calling it an arcade game just doesn't cut it. Maybe Naval Fantasies would be a better game name.

Yep, traded the Shermy in twice and still had enough coal to buy her right back.
Should I get f Sherman or Napoli? I already have Marceau
Trading in Sherman was a life hack, as it was cheapest coal TX to re-buy. I traded her in, got K14J and then bought Sherman back.
yeah, trading for best T9 BB was the best deal in WoWs ever
Yep, did the same. Cheapest coal ship option with highest rewards for the trade-in.

Traded my Sherman for the KJ last week too... Love it!

people traded sherman just cause of its price. You can get Coal anytime.
whenever i feel like raging...ill pull out Sherman, get my HP sorta low and just absolutely start unloading on any enemy in range.

Would be fun yes

I recently got the Sherman as my first ever coals ship. I’m still grinding out Halsey but can’t wait to play this ship optimally

Pog! Thanks for the sherman game! Im definitely buying it now! Ill just get marceau next and maybe save steel for a ussr cruiser.

How can i get this commander Halsey?
What is the mod showing the ship angles?
your aim is so good...I like the Sherman cause I like DD gameplay and that is spews shells to compensate for my terrible aim.

Every BB’s worst nightmare
I traded Sherman in twice for the event, then bought back, so 2 dub ships for coal
I had the gun sound bug out on me with sherman in arms race with halsey procced😅
It is true, almost everybody gave in sherman just so they can score something new to play.
When approaching a BB or CB its good to spam HE and SAP a while later on. Fire hurts even most surv built BBs
I traded my Sherman in and I'll have enough coal to buy it back sometime next week.
They just traded in as Sherman was giving the best return and rebuying it with coal
What mod station are you using to get the speed/direction circle around the ship name?
speed indicator.

I did trade F Sherman for the Minegumo since FS is free when I want it.
Hey PQ could we get a new series called "Master Class" where you go over ships and how to make them their most effective?

Rear Admiral Water Goblin!!
I am begging for wg to release the uss hull with the 8 inch mk 71 guns. Destroyer with 3 8 inch guns would be amazing
Day 22 of asking PQ to play the finest Russian BB admiral ushakov with meme lord kuznetsov
