This is a modern version of the legend of Saint George. According to this story, a long time ago, a dragon terro*rised a large city and demanded two young people as tribute every day, which the inhabitants drew by lot. One day, the king's daughter was chosen to be sacrificed to the dragon ; fortunately, a knight (known as George) was travelling nearby and decided to confront the beast. With the help of Christ, he k*lled the dragon and rescued the princess. In gratitude, the inhabitants of the city converted to Christianity.
No. What she did here was very NOT Yennifer-like. Yennifer generally doesn't care about commoners getting in trouble as a side effect of what she's doing, let alone get out of her way to help someone for the greater good. Triss in W3 did that by helping mages (and common herbalists, etc) escape Novigrad

@@kramair6997 unless you are referring to humans being monsters in a moral way, both of them are not used for monsters, steel for humans, silver for monsters.
So based on what I’m seeing here, I’ve gathered a few conclusions. First, Ciri is wearing Skelligan attire and appears to either be in Skellige or one of its bordering islands, based on the accents used here- further, it seems she’s been there long enough to lose her Cintrian accent. She’s either undergone the Trial of Grasses or learned how to formulate lesser potions that simulate the effects of those used by witchers, hence her using a variation of Cat here- enhancing her vision, which dilated her pupils to resemble those of a feline, like other witchers. Ciri is wearing a new pendant, which appears to be a Lynx, which means she and Lambert founded a new school for their purposes after the disbandment of the Wolf School, following Vesemir and Geralt’s departure (though whether Geralt is dead is a big unknown, since he survives in the canonical ending). She seems to have regained control of her magic, which she lost in the books after experiencing a traumatic moment whilst invoking the element of Fire (which canonically is the wildest and hardest to control, and tends to consume its user entirely). But here we see her transmute water into a short burst of lightning, and channel either Igni or a similar magic spell into her chain to burn the monster she’s facing. My guess is that after she and Geralt reunited, Yennefer and Triss assisted her in regaining her access to magic, making her not only a witcher, but a sorceress. She also looks a lot more battle-hardened, worn and broken here. In the Witcher 3, she was a heavily sympathetic and empathetic individual (which honestly broke the grain of her character in the books, since she underwent so many horrifying experiences and became colder as the result). Its interesting that she’s become so cold and violent after all this time, emulating the experiences she’s had and the lessons her adoptive family taught her.
I hope Geralt can be found at his vineyard and isn't big part of the game. To finally see him get some rest and live happily ever after the stuff he went thru.
I like how Ciri uses the same figthing method Geralt used while figthing the Striga in the cinematic of the first game. Also she pulled a Mortal Kombat Scorpion on that thing. And the "Only monsters" line, referencing Geralt's "Killing monsters" line. This is a masterpiece
Have you seen a modern art exhibit? People will literally call anything a masterpiece these days. Words have all but completely lost their intended meaning.
@InTheNameOfGodIHaveCome I'm saying it's a masterpiece because it represents big part of being a witcher and also takes it even further by referencing certain things showcasing the connection Ciri has with the profession as well as her father figure
Right!? And it even displays that she can't use his fighting style to full effect due to her size/strength, but she's **adapted** the style with her better understanding of magics. The chain makes me so excited for the creativity they can give her moveset throughout the game.
@@InTheNameOfGodIHaveComewhile I'd agree it's become the new "epic", I don't think this is necessarily a case of misuse. This is genuinely a display of some of the best graphics and story telling/cinematic choices I've seen in a game trailer. I keep coming back to appreciate it 😅
I sincerely hope that we get more dangerous Witcher contracts. Ones where hunting a monster actually makes you feel as if you are chasing down something really dangerous. Where we could go all out on sniffing out clues, determining which monsters it could be through a multiple choice mechanic and prepare accordingly.
@@SaltyCinder so true. While the story and the world building of the previous games sold on me on witchers, the gameplay certainly did not. As far as I'm concerned, every monster is defeated by dodge and attack. Even in higher difficulties your weapon and armour matter more than your tactics or preparation.
@ exactly!!! The combat is by no means the worst I’ve experienced because it is easy to get used to, but then like you said, all challenge is removed provided you have decent gear. I’d like the armour and weapons to be purely cosmetic and a skill tree should determine what type of gameplay you adapt. And like I said, defeating a monster should hinge heavily on how well you did your investigation and preparation

What would be the significance? And purpose? It'd either be a pointless and needless walk between 5-10 different NPCs in the same Tavern or just an EVEN MORE pointless and needless fast travel/horseback ride between cities to play 5-10 different NPCs and then be qualified for this tournament, play the same or maybe 1-2 less or more games of Gwent as the questline beforehand, then... be rewarded with... another game of gwent?? but one that just starts and/or ends with a fancy cutscene? What would the end-goal be though? What I unlock a special card or something to use in the games of Gwent in "The Witcher 4"? or... like what would be special and what would the point be in doing and completing it? How about instead you just use a few, maybe like 4-5, games of Gwent where at the 4th or 5th game a surprise familiar face (enter character cameo choice here) enters to play you as a way of saying hello again, having some quick fun, and starting a sidequest line involving you working together with them on (the quest would ofc depend on the character cameo) This is coming from someone who loves playing card games, especially fun ones, and Im still telling you that out of the WHOLE LORE SELECTION in The Witcher - "Gwent", is the weakest possible option to have as a fanservice idea, and is the lowest on anyone's list for "ideal fanservice". Here's a metaphor in the trailer I believe everyone is missing by the way: You know how the village folk think the only way to keep the beast at bay is to feed the girl to the beast? What if that's a metaphor for how the ones complaining about how Ciri becoming a Witcher and taking the trial of grasses is lore breaking? (Sarcasm) Rather, what if we entertain the thought that the trial of grasses was primitive and somebody needed to come up with an evolved version - where perhaps the ones that take it don't need to risk death and their reproductiveness? And perhaps the mutations aren't as deadly now? Technically, the Lynx symbology/mythology on Wikipedia reads - “it often symbolizes the unraveling of hidden truths”

For those who haven’t read the books. Magic in the Witcher world is taken from the four elements. Since we see Ciri “charging” her magic from a water stream, there will probably be a whole spell casting system in the game. Which would be awesome
My only problem with the trailer is Ciri never had the mutations a normal Witcher has done to her so she shouldn't be able to use Cat's Eye potions. It's canon Witcher potions kill or do severe damage to those who don't have the mutations.
@@joshuayonathan5373 I paused at the end of the trailer where her eyes are visible and they don't have the cat-slit pupils of a Witcher who's mutated. So unless they figured a work around she shouldn't be able to use the potions.

I think Geralt may be my favorite fictional character ever but he earned his happy ending. I really didn’t want him to have to go through more peril. So I’m super stoked Ciri is taking over!
I look forward to the side quest helping out Geralt because he presumably has zero idea how to maintain a vineyard. “Geralt, you don’t trim grapevines with a sword.” “Works for leshens” “Have these vines tried to strangle you to death?” “They’re strangling my coin purse to death.”
I have played W3…a lot. I don’t think I’ve ever chosen the ending where Geralt pushes her back into Nilfgard. I’m so, so glad this is the canon ending.
@bubdubs5294 In any one of those endings, it isn't hard to write a way that she still becomes a witcher. Even when she's presumed dead. The whole story is narrated by Dandelion. So, it's not that hard to assume he would tell whatever story was needed to cover for ciri.
I think it's cool if she becomes Empress. It's not like she loses any of her Witcher abilities and... well there's disagreement about whether she gets to keep her world-travel-teleportaion and/or combat-teleportation abilities. If she keeps them - she can visit Geralt literally whenever she wants (no more Wild Hunt threat to avoid using the long-range teleport).
@SzymonZat I cannot describe to you how much I loved this trailer. I know it’s a matter of opinion, but I genuinely have to know, what don’t you like about it? You’re okay not to like it, of course, and sometimes why can’t be explained. I’m just curious because I struggle to see outside of my own perspective sometimes.
A creepy detail is that the hag monsters voice sounds like an amalgamation of voices that are most likely mimicking all the past sacrifices. First it says what sounds like “fate cannot be changed, you cannot change anything” which pushes Ciri’s “hold my Tawny Owl and watch this” button. As Ciri has it choked with the harpoon it definitely sounds like a bunch of voices all saying different things. All I could really seem to make out was something about “it’s tradition”, “you and I” and “only we can save them”. The subtitles don’t really seem to help. Anyone understand what it’s saying?
UE is fine, as long as the devs actually tinker with it. Lots of devs just use the default settings and call it a day. CDPR isn't one of those; they already showcased their own additions to it.
I’ll take some stutters for them to finally release their first game on launch that isn’t a complete technical disaster. Infamously buggy and visually-downgraded Witcher 3 soft-locked me for five weeks at the title screen, and was semi-unplayable for months past then… and we don’t need to get into how worse their NEXT game was Witcher 1 and 2 are legendary for how buggy and disastrous they were

Witcher 3: Find ciri
Witcher 4: Find purchesable nasa pc
I mean thats all true. But there is still one question.
Can you play Gwent?
@ Gods, I hope so 😭
How is she cold and violent?? :-D
This is the best explanation so far yet, that Igni chain combo reminds me of God of War (i hope this is actual combat combo, not just trailer thing)

I keep coming back to appreciate it 😅
Yeah, specially the part when she takes the potion after being asswhooped by the monster. Real pro move 🤣

What would the end-goal be though? What I unlock a special card or something to use in the games of Gwent in "The Witcher 4"? or... like what would be special and what would the point be in doing and completing it?
How about instead you just use a few, maybe like 4-5, games of Gwent where at the 4th or 5th game a surprise familiar face (enter character cameo choice here) enters to play you as a way of saying hello again, having some quick fun, and starting a sidequest line involving you working together with them on (the quest would ofc depend on the character cameo)

I have played W3…a lot. I don’t think I’ve ever chosen the ending where Geralt pushes her back into Nilfgard. I’m so, so glad this is the canon ending.
But about those who did? What about her being presumed dead? There were 25 endings in TW3. Player choice was respected. Now? Not so much
@bubdubs5294 In any one of those endings, it isn't hard to write a way that she still becomes a witcher.
Canon ending is Ciri choosing to rule the empire IMHO. Such a great ending. The Ciri witcher ending is the "American happy ending" ending.

@@SzymonZat Why is that, because the main protagonist is ciri?
Tbh it's a meh for me
@SzymonZat I cannot describe to you how much I loved this trailer.
Sees UE5 logo: There are no fps here, there are only stutters
There's a talk that CDPR gave at Unreal Fest earlier this year in which they showcased their own tech on top of UE5 to solve the stutter issue.
UE is fine, as long as the devs actually tinker with it. Lots of devs just use the default settings and call it a day. CDPR isn't one of those; they already showcased their own additions to it.
I’ll take some stutters for them to finally release their first game on launch that isn’t a complete technical disaster. Infamously buggy and visually-downgraded Witcher 3 soft-locked me for five weeks at the title screen, and was semi-unplayable for months past then… and we don’t need to get into how worse their NEXT game was
Witcher 1 and 2 are legendary for how buggy and disastrous they were
😂😂
I wouldn't say that UE5 kills my excitement for this game, but it definitely takes it from "hype train through the roof" to "wait and see"
The main thing is that Geralt is not beaten to death with a stick at the beginning of the game
Don't get your hopes up
No witcher died of old age.
You should read the books ending :D
@@pcnoic Geralt died drinking the only kind of wine that can actually beat his liver. That he made himself.
@@eemilkolu5598 The Games happen after that so......
Please let the tutorial part be Ciri and Geralt's last adventure together in hunting the last Witch from Crookback Bog - Ciri gets the kill as a certified Witcher and Geralt gets to retire with Yennefer
YES! I LOVE YOU RANDOM STRANGER.
@@aribbaandalay I think you mean triss!
Read the books. You're not going to like what canonically happens to Geralt, and it's probably going to happen in this game.
@@mountainmikeoutdoors witcher 3 already happens after the book. the witcher 3 never should have happened in the first place if they stayed true to the books
@@Powernudel after the "book" singular? There's five books. You should read them.
