it's funny you made this video, my family were sixer fans and my dad said that i was a jinx and had to pick a new team. so i always saw Reggie in jet magazine and in ads. so i picked the bulls because of him and i like the logo too. the next year they would draft Jordan and the rest is history for me. i'm still a fan of the bulls but i always rember Reggie
I remember getting turned onto Reg when he was the "coach" on the show Hangtime. Super touch player, versatile, though THIS is why I don't blame the newer generation for being more proactive in terms of who and where they play for. There were so many guys like Theus that played in the late 70s/early 80s but played in "small market" teams that were left to rot by coaches and back office laziness. I hate when people say this... though imagine Reg today with his size and skillset. Get him with an AD type stretch 4/5 that can both post and take jumpers and Reg would have been scoring 28 points a game.
Got to meet Reggie at Winchels donuts on Division by Mothers bar at 2am.. What a nice guy we just talk bulls basketball for about a 1/2 hour. Coffee and donuts Sitting on his Mercedes Benz convertible. Dude was a stud. Every woman walking by was like oh my 😮.. He was one of the greatest Bulls..

It wasn't until the 1980s and beyond, that the more strict positional designations like point guard and shooting guard became entrenched.

It annoyed me as he is no longer a Magic, and quite frankly, when Theus was with the Magic, I preferred to have Nick Anderson play more, but the Magic were stubborn and started Theus.

Nah. He was an extremely capable point guard as well as a shooting guard. Positions are pretty overrated. If you can hoop, you can hoop and it doesn't quite matter where you're playing on the court ( as long as you're playing defense too).

@@johndavis9321 yea, Reggie Theus contributed during the regular season in helping multiple teams get to the playoffs, but just like Tracy Mcgrady, they both never won a playoff series, outside of T-Mac last year in the NBA in which San Antonio signed him for the playoffs to be a veteran lockeroom presence, so individual accolades are irrelevant when tryna compare Carmelo, Reggie, Tracy interms of team success, all 3 were established all star players at there peak, they all played 10plus useful years in they profession, now look at HOF Andre Dawson and Mike Trout, both plentiful accomplished ⚾ players who've had and had minimal playoff experience due to playing on mediocre teams, yet they still 2 of the greatest of all times in they line of work

The 3 point line was waaaay back. Very physical game too. In todays soft league he would of averaged 40 a night. If Theus had only played in Boston with Bird! It would of extended Bird's career and got Reggie a few rings along the way.

Nah. He was an extremely capable point guard as well as a shooting guard. Positions are pretty overrated. If you can hoop, you can hoop and it doesn't quite matter where you're playing on the court ( as long as you're playing defense too).
