Honestly pretty upsetting that people feel so entitled that they don’t work when getting paid 50 million, when the average person works harder for a job they don’t like for a penny if that. I think player empowerment has gone too far in the NBA to the point they forget it’s a job.
I agree and the problem is players have been getting away with this for the last decade in particular. Look at Kevin Durant. He moaned and cried his way out of multiple circumstances. Just making demands and getting trades. Pat Riley being old-school is at least taking a stand on this one.
When regular people at regular jobs get disrespected they start searching for another job. Only difference is that ain’t nobody watching us at our jobs and narrating it going down. Most of the things ain’t about money cause they gonna make money any way just like how you gonna get paid ur salary anywhere you go! An average person just doesn’t have that TALENT. Thats why we don’t compare athletes to us regular people
Shaq has lost touch with not having a lot of money. Acting like we should cry for Butler because he's making 50 million a year to play a game I play hard for free is crazy work. Edit: don't get me wrong, I like Shaq, but he needs to understand the more grateful side of life.
Shaq is an absolute airhead. Basketball players are afforded a priveledge to get paid millions of dollars to play a game. You might not like the contract that you signed but YOU signed it and are expected to live up to it on and off the court. That means show up on time to the plane and practice. Negotiations can still be had but that shouldn't affect your commitment to the contract YOU signed and the players you are sweating with and the players that are depending on you.
@@CoolF-jd7rr Here we go again. It's a privileged that society rewards athletic prowess with million dollar contracts guaranteed. There are TONS of potential NBA players who weren't in the right place, didn't get seen by the right recruit, didn't have the right high school or AAU coach. Not to mention home life growing up that could have derailed the entire dream. Please think the damn concept through before you disagree.
@ It's not a privilege at all. Especially when it comes to so-called black players since they make the majority of the league. Economy teaches us that the higher the demand for something, the higher its price. Plain and simple. We can string a bevy of excuses for anything to try to substantiate why a given person did not make it into the league. In order to be an NBA player, you fundamentally need two things: mental wherewithal and physical prowess. If you have those two, you will find a way to get noticed. Just that simple.
@popgfk9989 He never held a normal 9-5 in his entire life. Imagine missing work then telling your boss its human nature. You'll be hauled off immediately. Butler can say whatever he likes but at least show up to practice on time, thats a bare necessity. He's acting like a minimum wage worker being asked to work 12 hours for 6 days a week.
Shaq is so wrong on this lol. You signed a contract, you should show up. Its not even a bad contract at that, he's getting paid $50 million for 3 years that he signed in 2023. You can't be mad when you're an aging superstar at 35 not getting a contract extension and being detrimental to the team.
See the difference here is their show is irreplaceable. Jimmy Butler is not. Pat Riley will find another superstar to lead their franchise and not act like a child pouting. Bottom line.
Not giving him an extension doesn't mean they're disrespecting him. He's still owed 50 mil next year and then he becomes a free agent after that. Meaning, depending on how he plays this year or next year he can still get that extension. Jimmy's being unprofessional.
@RavFreeworldEnt as he should. Because he's still under contract.🤷 He has a player option for next season so he can act out then, but not this season. It's really not that complicated.
@RavFreeworldEnt what the f does your question even mean? context matters. If you get harassed by your boss, you can take legal actions against your boss. But if your boss just tells you to do your job, what the hell is wrong with that? That's not harassment. In this case, what did Pat do to him? Nothing. He wasn't given an extension. That's it. If you have a contractual job, see it through. It's not that complicated.
Shaq has always been unprofessional that's why Kobe didn't like him. Of course Shaq is going to side with someone mirroring unprofessionalism like Jimmy.
If im Pat im being petty as hell,You wanna waste my time ima waste yours,Even if i have a package lined up im not saying yes tomm,Im waiting the full deadline
Shaq’s argument is entirely revolving around enabling greed. Shaq thinks if a player is a max contract player, that warrants a maximum contract even AFTER they are done putting up all star/all nba numbers. If a dude is 35 and not leading a team to titles, I am not giving him $60 million just because of his legacy. And Shaq is talking about years 3-4-5 in a contract for a THIRTY FIVE YEAR OLD PLAYER. Shaq 1000% paid off his college professors to get his doctorates. Bro is always presenting the stupidest arguments when they actually debate on this show.
I'm honestly surprised players don't play out the contract as hard as they can even if they want out. It would show other teams that hey I may not want to be here eventually but I'll still try my hardest to finish what I did promise prior. They need to put in the contracts that if players hold out they lose the money from that point on. It is dumb that teams put so much money into players just to handicap the rest of the team when said players decide to sit and quit.
What I'm learning is it'll never be enough money. 50, 75, hell....a 100 mil. It'll never be enough for these guys. They will always perform whatever mental gymnastics they can think of to justify quite literally quitting on your team AKA QUITTING ON YOUR JOB. These men are not to be idolized or pillared.
Shaq says the biggest lesson here is human nature, “if you don’t want me I don’t want you”. Oh how entitled you gotta be. Welcome to the real world Shaq and Jimmy, no matter how good you are at your profession you can easily be replaced.
Real world says people don’t have to work if they don’t want to. Especially when they just made 50 million dollars. Hahaha The point is, allot of guys won’t play with enthusiasm if they don’t feel like they are wanted around. That’s the difference between a work obligation, and being enthusiastic about your work. Once guys have money. They’re not going to work like they are desperate and hungry. They are going to need a different kind of motivation or drive then money. Similar to how a guy might play after winning everything. They get bored with the game. Some even leave.
@@Noumenon4Idolatry you don’t get it Jimmy’s under contract he’s required to play. Doesn’t matter if it’s for a $1 or a billion.
@alexcap

Thats why we don’t compare athletes to us regular people
If you don’t like your job then leave
Illiterate Shaq is at it again. He's out of his depth when it comes to his understanding of human nature.
Shaq has lost touch with not having a lot of money. Acting like we should cry for Butler because he's making 50 million a year to play a game I play hard for free is crazy work.
Edit: don't get me wrong, I like Shaq, but he needs to understand the more grateful side of life.
lol Shaq been unprofessional is whole career so I see why he agrees with jimmy approach
He’s a big bully who’s used to getting his way
@@jorgemunoz2065 this is why he never reached his full potential
Let Shaq try this with TNT. Different story
Yup. That's why Kobe won without you Shaq.
@@JayCailNo, I did my research and it was Kobe that admitted he did infidelity.
I agree with Charles & Kenny you’re under contract period
Shaquille Oneal is of the the dumbest people who think they are smart.
A few mistakes that sentence. Bad look when you're critiquing someone's intellect
@@markharrison6498you did the exact same thing lol
Just goes to show that because someone has a Doctor degree it dont make them smart
Oof
You mean Michael Jordan of dummies? 😂
A privilege ? Nah, the owners are afforded a privilege to have basketball players
It’s 100% business……Jimmy is delusional & thinks he’s more valuable than he actually is, Riley is smart enough to not pay a 35 year old 🤷♂️
Shaq never had a real job and it shows. The entitlement is sickening.
What 😂 he played ball
@popgfk9989 He never held a normal 9-5 in his entire life. Imagine missing work then telling your boss its human nature. You'll be hauled off immediately. Butler can say whatever he likes but at least show up to practice on time, thats a bare necessity. He's acting like a minimum wage worker being asked to work 12 hours for 6 days a week.
I got a headache listening to Shaq talk.. I see what Kobe problem was with him.
Shaq is so wrong on this lol. You signed a contract, you should show up. Its not even a bad contract at that, he's getting paid $50 million for 3 years that he signed in 2023. You can't be mad when you're an aging superstar at 35 not getting a contract extension and being detrimental to the team.
Shaq's take on this one is just like his free throws.
It’s like TNT not extending thier show next year, so none of them show up to work.
ESPN is picking it up
@ yes I knw… but before then. Opportunity missed by Chuck, because he’s the only one who has the stones to bag on Shaq.
Decent analogy, internet person
@illmade_dave .... Well said, as the kids say, "THAT PART"
See the difference here is their show is irreplaceable. Jimmy Butler is not. Pat Riley will find another superstar to lead their franchise and not act like a child pouting. Bottom line.
And we wonder why ratings are down lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
EXACTLY! just one of the many reasons why the NBA is losing fans!
Exactly one of the reasons. NBA players thinking they are better than the team
Not giving him an extension doesn't mean they're disrespecting him. He's still owed 50 mil next year and then he becomes a free agent after that. Meaning, depending on how he plays this year or next year he can still get that extension. Jimmy's being unprofessional.
Nah disrespecting him is Riley going out there telling him to essentially shut up and dribble
@RavFreeworldEnt as he should. Because he's still under contract.🤷 He has a player option for next season so he can act out then, but not this season. It's really not that complicated.
@ so in your words u getting paid so your boss can say and do anything and you just take that?
@RavFreeworldEnt what the f does your question even mean? context matters. If you get harassed by your boss, you can take legal actions against your boss. But if your boss just tells you to do your job, what the hell is wrong with that? That's not harassment.
In this case, what did Pat do to him? Nothing. He wasn't given an extension. That's it. If you have a contractual job, see it through. It's not that complicated.
@@RavFreeworldEntJimmy runs his mouth too much. Somebody needed to check him and hold him accountable.
So Shaq is saying human nature is to pout and it’s ok?
How the HELL DOES Kenny have a line up AND bald?!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
50 million dollars and you don't even want to show up after signing a contract?? You're tripping.
Shaq has always been unprofessional that's why Kobe didn't like him. Of course Shaq is going to side with someone mirroring unprofessionalism like Jimmy.
Shaq is always think he is right. He and Stephen A are the same.
Kobe saw what everyone didn't see everyday.
It’s crazy how snotty rich people act.
It's messed up
If im Pat im being petty as hell,You wanna waste my time ima waste yours,Even if i have a package lined up im not saying yes tomm,Im waiting the full deadline
It’s not about money 🤦🏾♂️ Jimmy don’t give af he don’t wanna play for pat Riley 🤷🏾♂️
Are we really surprised Shaq thinks this way, he has massive ego😅
Jimmy led us to two finals appearances
@@ashleybanks-wm4cg And how many titles?
Appearances don't mean anything pal.
He paid university of Phoenix to set up a classroom for him and a group of his buddies. So yea, I can imagine the rigor wasn't exactly up to par.
Shaq waited until the season started , then has foot surgery. Said he didn't want to get surgery on his time. This drove Kobe nuts.
that’s why Phil Jackson is one of the greatest coaches !!
What Kenny said @ 5:32 is a 💎 of a statement because it can be applied to multiple things in life 💪
Chuck and Kenny are right
What I'm learning is it'll never be enough money.
Because he basically has a child's mentality on most everything.
Right, he also skipped the second part of that which is why would they want him if he doesn't want them?
Real world says people don’t have to work if they don’t want to. Especially when they just made 50 million dollars. Hahaha
The point is, allot of guys won’t play with enthusiasm if they don’t feel like they are wanted around.
He’s literally on the team to play and do his job otherwise he wouldn’t be on the team to begin with. Just cause Jimmy made $50 million he doesn’t have right to sit out and demand more money. The name on the front of the shirt is more important than the back. He signed the contract and the heat shouldn’t give in to his ultimatum. Cause again doesn’t matter how good of a player he is, everyone is replaceable.
@
So why doesn’t the heat just get their money back? Take Jimmy to court.
We can talk about contracts all day, but if you want the best out of your players, this usually isn’t the best way to get it. Jimmy is too old to be talked to like a little kid with 5$ in his pocket. Replace him then. 😄
Imagine paying someone that much money when they are easily replaced. Isn’t that the stupidest thing anyone can do?
Jimmy could never survive a 9-5. Hes lucky he was blessed to play basketball for a living
If you look at his background, he had a very hard way up. A terrible personal situation he had to struggle through as a youngster. But money and fame changes everything I guess. Instead of being thrilled to death he’s in the league making this money he’s whined and cried out of multiple circumstances during his career.
@@Sharpshooter8388 timberwolves Jimmy beat the starters with third stringers. I’m actually pretty sure he’d be fine with a 9 to 5 but if you’re gonna put in the amount of effort training and time to be in the NBA, you should get paid to do so, pretty stupid take.
@@Dreewisme98Dude is making 50 million, what are you talking about? How you gon sign a CONTRACT then complain that you want more money or you not gon play
@ bro has been playing when they’re putting him in. He hasn’t been not playing. They keep suspending him left and right every time he’s been the rotation. He has stepped on the floor and put points up. And he is not going to play is the correct pronunciation. Not gon to play is not proper English.
@@Dreewisme98 You have no idea what you are talking about. He averaged 13 points a game the 3 games he came back after suspension. And they only suspended him ONCE before this one. Quit tea-bagging Jimmy.

It depends on what basketball stars it is
Wow, Shaq is WAY off base here. Everything he said literally made no sense whatsoever. SMH
NBA has turned these dudes into the biggest Primmadonnas who feel like they don’t have to clock in to work, they can just cry and pout if they don’t get their way, and it’s going to get to a point where the players won’t even try and win a championship.

Shaq reverted back to his situation with the Magic to think like this
I thought same, but they did try to lowball him, they had a top 10 all time player in his youth, Magic played themselves
I’d say he reverted back to his situation with Miami and the same Pat Riley. They have been known to have a rocky relationship and Shaq went thru the same situation when asking for an extension past his prime.
50 million is not enough to show up to work? He is now black listed! Jimmy’s career in the NBA is over!
No wonder Shaq and Kobe parted ways because of that extension. Shaq becomes greedy and selfish.
