I think this is talking about how Shakespeare was suspected to be part of the gunpowder plot, and he wrote Macbeth to be placed on the kings good side and avoid suspicion surrounding him and the plot as he was friends with people involved at the time, he wrote the play to show he was devoted to the king

    Mr Salles, I’m in year 11 and just completed my first set of mocks, for my literature exam the extract I was given the best extract I could have asked for (act 5 scene 1), everything I have written is very good quality, but I didn’t get an awful lot written, is there any advice you can give to help with time management and getting as much done as possible

    • @MrSallesTeachesEnglish

      There is only one bit of advice - practise writing under timed conditions, and you will get quicker. If thinking fast is the problem, practise dictating.

      maybe start off with an introduction, followed by two paragraphs that agree with your point, then perhaps two paragraphs that disagree (dont forget context if its an AQA lit exam) and then summarise all your points and conclude - make sure it links back to the intro. idk but ig this would work - perhaps just adding some extra paragraphs if this isnt enough, but i hope this helps!

    Hi sir can you have a look at this thesis for Lady Macbeth: In the archetypical propaganda play 'Macbeth', Shakespeare powerfully constructs the deateragonist Lady Macbeth as an unwillingly determined character to cataclyse Macbeth's downfall in order to make an ironic statement that women also have freedom (which was of course very unexpected in this patriarchal society because they wasn't able to vote) and was seen as rather entertaining for a Jacobean audience seeing the performance at the globe.

    • @MrSallesTeachesEnglish
      @MrSallesTeachesEnglish  4 года назад +1

      Your school is trying to teach a method which will cover all bases - so it sounds logical. Because teachers usually don't sit the exams themselves, they don't road test this to see if it is actually successful - usually it ends up with having to write too much. The only way for you to find out is to write an essay using what you have learned, and see what grade you get, compared to the 'method'.
