Here are some interesting quotes!! Macbeth: "Fair is foul and foul is fair" - Inversion, saying we shouldnt trust appearances, a common theme in the play, Macbeth is also told to "Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent underneath it". Its almost as if he's been corrupted by the supernatural (link to context and writers intentions) 'Stars, hide your fired, let not light see my black and deep desires'- Macbeth aims to hide his intentions from god (the stars). He knows what he's intending to do is wrong, and hes worried that even thinking about doing it will not please God. Prehaps it creates the idea that Macbeth is doing this out of free will? His ambition here leads to his suffering, but it wasn't forced. He knows this is wrong yet he still does it. (Link to context/writers intentions) "Yet i do fear thy nature"- Lady macbeth does not think Macbeth is "man enough" to commit regicide (lol), it links to the idea that Lady macbeth is occasionally seen as masculine while sometimes Macbeth is shown as more feminine, for example when he is panicking after killing duncan ("Macbeth does murder sleep") while Lady macbeth is calmer ("A little water clears us of this deed"). Prehaps its shakespears way of telling us not to overstep our roles, as Macbeth and lady macbeth do not fit into the norms of the jacobean society. "Unsex me here"- Similar to the last one. LMB is asking dark spirits (link to supernatural and the witches) to strip her of her femininity, so she can help macbeth kill duncan and become king. "Is this a dagger i see before me"- Macbeth hesitates, this is one of the turning points in the play, IT IS THE LAST CHANCE FOR HIM TO TURN BACK, yet he thinks it is a calling (fate? As predicted by the witches?) "Macbeth does murder sleep"- Reflects macbeths Guilt, sleep is a symbol of peace, which macbeth purposefully disrupts after breaking the great chain of being. It reflects his mental state and marks the start of his downfall. "Tis' unnatural, even like the deed that's done"- Proves that the great chain of being has been disrupted, the actions of macbeth have seemingly broken nature and the order of things. Shakespeare does this to warn the audience not to commit any kind of treason or overstep their place/consumed by ambition as it will only lead to chaos. "A little water clears us of this deed"- Irony, opposes LMB later "Out damned spot! Out i say". She pushes away her guilt but is eventually consumed by it. Those are some key quotes for Macbeth. A Christmas Carol key quotes: "Scrooge was his [...] sole freind and soul mourner"- Establishes the nature of his business partner it shows how he lived his life, mostly alone, consumed by money and it is the same path scrooge walks. Links to later "Chains i forged in life". This is not the right path scrooge should walk, we see how marley ends up. "He carried his own low temperature [...] and didn't thaw it one degree at Christmas" - Establishes Scrooges cold and cynical nature, even at a very happy, joyous time he remains isolated and pushes others away from him. "As Solitary as an oyster"-A very interesting quote, as it shows how scrooge is isolated and introverted, but also shows how deep down he HAS something worth saving, this is the pearl you find in oysters. "Christmas has done me good and will do me good"- Fred is saying how Christmas has affected him, he is trying to show scrooge the light, only for him to ignore him, prehaps it DOES however awaken something in scrooge, as later we see that he finally notices marley, despite him apparently having visted many times before, but he is never seen. "If they would rather die, they'd better do it and decrease the surplus population"- Links to the Malthus theory, the idea thay we dont have enough supplies to supply a growing population. Scrooge (a microcosm of the upper classes) shows his belief of the poor of them being prehaps lazy and unproductive, despite them being the people who uphold society. This is a belief hold by many at the time. At the same time this quote is criticising the theory, as we do not trust scrooge, due to his negative and pessimistic nature, and is further disproved later (see later quote) "Fezziwig has spent but a few pounds"- Fezziwig is the boss Scrooge could've been, he doesnt spend much, only a few pounds, yet he brings joy to so many people. Fezziwig is shown here by the GOCP in order to show scrooge that he can be a boss that brings despair, or one that brings joy, he will loose little bit will gain much more.. "Another idol has displaced me [...] a golden one"- Scrooge is so afraid of poverty that he has become obsessed over wealth and is now consumed with greed. He has forgotten what really matters, his relationships with others, such as Bell in this situation. "Heaped up on the floor, to form a king of throne, were turkeys [...], sausages [...], puddings."- Disproves the malthus theory, there is evidently an excess of resources. "I see a vacant seat in a poor chimney corner"- Scrooge now understands something- the lower classes are people like bob cratchit, hard workers who do everything they can to stay alive, yet they are unable to afford basic healthcare for an innocent, kind tiny tim. The ghost of Christmas present also mocks him for this, referencing his earlier quote of the surplus population, scrooge now understands the value of life and the reality of the poor. "Am i the man who lay upon the bed"- Scrooge is horrified, he just watched many people mock, steal and disregard this dead individual, some people are even happy because of it, he realises then that if he doesnt change he will truly die alone, just like marley, none will remember him, none will care about him, and his life will have been for nothing, only resulting in the same suffering marley has. "He knew how to keep Christmas well"- He's changed, now he realised the error of his ways and he has now become a better person. Hope this helps, if you did anything else i wont be able to help you (sorry)

Dear Mr Everything English, please let me know if this suffices as a grade 9 AO1 point, before I then go on to analyse the quotes you have explained in the video. Keep up your hard work bossman. If I get a 8 or 9 in English Lit I will give you £100 through paypal or smth (not joking cos i got 6 in mocks) P.S this point can be adapted to any question (guilt, kingship, supernatural etc.) The witches' malevolence and duplicitousness catalyse Mabeth into committing regicide, and he is psychologically consumed by guilt as he recognises that his 'unvaulting ambition' (his hamartia), was inextricably linked with his desire to obtain the utmost power and control , causing him to lose any sense of moral conscience as he disregards the eternal, damning consequences of violating the divine right of kings, because Macbeth succumbs to the irresistible allure of supernatural powers.
At this point find something else to link it too that's what I'm doing you only need two points for contexts so 2 out of your 4 should have context(it's only worth 6 marks)
Sir i think you made a mistake. unseam'd him from the nave to the 'chaps' not the 'chops'. but other than that, I'll be so honest this guy has actually made me enjoy English, my most hated subject!
sir you know when you talk about the first quote and the plastic and hear explanation, should we write that tomorrow as our interpretation of the quote? how do we present it in our essay?
Can someone please mark my essay and give me feedback? How is Macbeth presented as a powerful man? Macbeth is used as a dramatic vehicle by Shakespeare to successfully reinforce the idea of excess ambition and thirst for power as being a leading factor for society and ambitious peoples’ downfalls during the Jacobean Era. In the beginning, Macbeth is highlighted as a valiant and noble during his reign as a brave and merciless soldier for the King Duncan. “O valiant cousin, worthy gentlemen” is an indicator of his previous position in Jacobean England and how he was a generally respected and very high ranking member of society. The fact that he killed the traitor Macdonald ‘mercilessly’ and ‘from the nave to the chaps’ with full support and even praise from the highest ranking level on the Great Chain of Being suggests his seriously influential and crucial decisions in ensuring England during the Jacobean Era was up to the standards of the King and conformed to the Great Chain of Being and Divine Right of Kings. The plosive alliteration of ‘merciless Macdonald’ elevates and emphasises his position and tier on the unfair hierarchy of the time through the harsh sounds provided. Furthermore, Macbeth is shown to be promoted in his work as not only a soldier, but also as the Thane of Cawdor by Duncan directly after the conflict of England with Scotland. During the climax of the play, Macbeth is portrayed by Shakespeare as powerful and influential due to his impact on Duncan’s life and as a result, the entire natural order of Jacobean England. The regicide of Duncan would be especially influential due to the Jacobean belief that disrupting and disturbing the Great Chain of Being would lead to damage in the natural order of things such as crops dying or natural disasters; or in this case, the tragic downfall of Macbeth and his ultimate death. “The deed is done” suggests that Macbeth is accepting of the diabolical and savage act that he committed. The calm and collected demeanour further heightens the idea of Macbeth being powerful as he seems accustomed to the violent and gory death of the king. However, this could also be an indicator of his insecurities and overarching fears through the indirect reference rather than stating the murder has happened. The verb ‘done’ also suggests that Macbeth tries to show his hamartia and insatiable desire as being satisfied indicating his power to influence society and not face the consequences, which is proved wrong at the end of the play Finally, Macbeth is presented as powerful through his murder and planned execution of Banquo and his son Fleance. “champion me to the utterance, take my part in a mortal duel” effectively describes him contacting the supernatural and requesting their assistance in order to kill his loyal companion. This suggests that he has so much power, he can contact the witches and similar entities in order to fuel his sick and twisted determinations. This would have very negative connotations during the Jacobean Era and would essentially cause a negative reaction from the audience. Overall, Macbeth may be presented as powerful and influential as a deterrence for Jacobean society to not pursue their ambitions to the extent of Macbeth in order to fit in with societal stereotypes and norms to prevent disruption of widely believed conformities such as the Great Chain of Being.
I skim read it, and I think it's in level 4 over half marks. Definitely not L6 as a lot of the ideas don't sound mindblowing as they seem to be what many candidates say (having read at least 30 Macbeth essays in preparation for the exam.) What sets you apart is the AO2 and for some teachers/examiners, that can be the decider between L5 and L6.

The witches' malevolence and duplicitousness catalyse Mabeth into committing regicide, and he is psychologically consumed by guilt as he recognises that his 'unvaulting ambition' (his hamartia), was inextricably linked with his desire to obtain the utmost power and control , causing him to lose any sense of moral conscience as he disregards the eternal, damning consequences of violating the divine right of kings, because Macbeth succumbs to the irresistible allure of supernatural powers.

The verb ‘done’ also suggests that Macbeth tries to show his hamartia and insatiable desire as being satisfied indicating his power to influence society and not face the consequences, which is proved wrong at the end of the play
Finally, Macbeth is presented as powerful through his murder and planned execution of Banquo and his son Fleance.

So basically I need to take 2 quotes from this 4 and find two quotes from the extract in exam and write 4 paras????? Please someone reply me quick
