    I wouldn't be too worried about the occasional complex question which in the heat of the moment creates a "blank" expression. Do your best and attempt something. Do not despair as most people would have found it tough also. Just move on and score marks on the topics you know well like Fractions, Indices, Percentages, Probability, etc.

    As a GCSE student taking Edexcel Maths in 2023, I had no idea whatsoever how to solve it until you went through it. For me, it's just a matter of: understanding what is being asked; eliminating irrelevant information; and using your brain to figure out what to do. I feel Edexcel tries to put people off much more to separate the best of the best, as opposed to AQA in my experience. I am so happy I found this video. Subscribed.

I was completely lost in Geometry and I had a cycle and some angles inside the cycle and I thought very basic that the cycle is 360° and that was actually what I had to think about in order to solve the exercise. And at first I thought that it was complicated but they just made it seem like that.

    Great video, Sola. Your comments and suggestions were all spot on and very useful. If I could add two tips, one pre-exam and another during the exam. Pre-exam- have a look at the Mark Scheme and Examiners' comments on the questions you struggled with. It will give you some insight as to where you may have gone wrong and the approach/es that they were expecting from candidates. The Examiners' report is sometimes quite revealing, as it is critical of what teachers haven't covered (very well). During the exam, especially in the later questions (grade 7-9 difficulty), don't despair. You can still score some 'method' marks or demonstrating the correct steps you've taken in tackling the question. So make sure you write out your steps clearly so that the marker (who's going through 100s of scripts) can credit your approach. Best of luck to your future career/s.

      Try to refocus your thoughts "I hate maths" is a good cop out, try changing it to a more positive message "I am not the best at maths but I try my best". Focus on the first half of the paper, try to get as many of these correct as you can - all if you can do it. Then ensure you show working so that you can pick up method marks as often as possible. Good luck

      @@jonnybenitez1 I think you can still “hate maths” and be good at it and not loose your focus. Theirs nothing wrong with “not liking” something what’s bad is when you don’t like the subject so you completely ignore it and don’t even try and work hard for it.

    I've been getting 5-6s in my mock exams because of silly mistakes or not reading the question properly like you said.
    Thanks for your advice and good luck on anyone else who's doing their Gcses right now

    that question where u have to find c is actually so easy if u think about how squares all have equal sides. each side is just 8 so from 38,36 u go down 8 2 times and left 8 2 times, that leaves u with 22,20

    • @SmileWithSola
      @SmileWithSola  2 года назад +7

      Yup, that's basically what I said in the video! A lot of people found it hard though when the question first came out, even though it's quite simple when you think about it.

    • @jamiemarsden3823
      @jamiemarsden3823 2 года назад

      This question has nothing to do with equal sides it's all about 'amount' and paying close attention to those amounts ie, there are 4 sq, all with 8 line, there are 3 points of X pay attention to the (4/8/3)
      These three amounts/numbers can be used alone to answer the question as stated in my first reply IF you know how to chew on numbers 😁🤓

I wanted to ask if you could create a part 2 and go deeper into the exam technique for maths, revision websites and how often (how many hours per week) should one be doing maths revision to get a grade 9? Please could you use your grade before using this revision technique as some inspiration
