Mr. Bruff, you are such an amazing help to those of us who need extra help or revision for English exams. However, might I suggest that you include subtitles in your videos to make the more accessible for people such as me with hearing impairment?
I have done just that on this video. I have also added subtitles on all of my animations (English Language, A Christmas Carol & An Inspector Calls) and my Power and Conflict poetry analysis videos. I plan to add subtitles to every video going forward. Thanks for your comment.
What's the best way to revise Macbeth? Because it's not like maths or science where you just memorise everything and apply it to exam questions. I honestly don't even know where to start.
Do think you could make a video on making your writing concise in analyses (or any bit of writing) I know so many people who (myself included!) who waffle WAY to much :)

Hi Sir, seeing so many Macbeth videos (66 vids) overwhelms me! Is there any way you can shorten them down into the videos that are the most important for exams? I am worried that I might not get through all 66..
I understand. Start with the character analysis videos (the first ones in the playlist). After this, perhaps look at the analysis of any scenes you don't feel too familiar with.
This analysis is not specific to AQA - it can be applied to all exam boards. You might just want to check the assessment objectives to check if context is assessed on this text in your exam.
hey mr bruff im really confused atm and was wondering if you could help me out! what topics are in english lit paper one and whats in english lit paper 2??/
From 'Mr Bruff's Guide to 'Macbeth'': 'In his article The Beginnings of Elizabethan Drama: Revolution and Continuity, the critic G.K. Hunter maintains that during the period of Shakespeare’s life there was a constant effort to keep the prevailing system in place. That included loyalty to the crown, to the country, to the church as well as to the existing traditions. This was achieved through keeping order and punishing those who deviated from the accepted system. For example, those who were believed to be involved in the Gunpowder Plot to assassinate King James I were executed. Their reasons for plotting were not explored or debated. Peter Ackroyd argues in his book Shakespeare: The Biography that Shakespeare was a defender and supporter of royal power. He in no way would have supported any popular movements to give power to the people, often ridiculing and mocking those in the lower classes for their illiteracy.'
You can add a ton of contextual points. Talk about James's book daemonology that talks about the supernatural and the witches and say that shakespeare included the theme of supernatural because james believed highly in the supernatural

Why would Shakespeare want us to learn to fear the dangers of being over-ambitious? What's the playwrite's intention?
From 'Mr Bruff's Guide to 'Macbeth'': 'In his article The Beginnings of Elizabethan Drama: Revolution and Continuity, the critic G.K.
