Looks super delicious
It is! My kids love it ;)
I never even heard of coconut nectar before, thank you, pretty music.
Thank you!
I think it's cocunut syrup or similar to molasses.
I love it. Give it a try :)
Thank you!
Looks great!!! what can I use instead of coconut nectar as a sweetener ?
You could try brown rice syrup, which is another thick and sticky liquid sweetener.
Would medjool date syrup work? I have that on hand, and wondering about the result. What do you think?
Can I use homemade coconut milk? Is it considered full fat?
It's so nice to see you making videos again! Looks really nice, is there a substitute for the coconut nectar?
Thank you!❤️ I really appreciate your kind comment. You could try brown rice syrup, which is another thick and sticky liquid sweetener.
Hi! Date syrup is another option you can use.
Aw sure thing
@@NutritionRefinedhow about maple?🤍
Can I use date syrup? How this will come out? Thanks
Date syrup is not nearly as thick and sticky as coconut nectar. Also, since date syrup is essentially just dates and water, the caramel will more or less taste like dates.
hello Petra ! 🤍
I was making caramel today and oh i should have checked your page before !
after making your tiramisu that was a huge hit you are now my checked trust worthy fav recipe creator hihi !🫶🏼
i’ve been wondering , i saw you had another caramel recipe few years ago, how would you compare these two?
ps what was wrong with just dates + milk /bit of nut butter as most people do ? and another ps coconut nectar is kind of hard to find here , would maple be suitable substitute ?
much love !
caro
Great questions! You could totally make caramel just using dates, cashew butter and a splash of nut milk. However, I find that the flavor is not as complex as when you add another sweetener. I love coconut nectar because of its viscosity. Maple syrup is more liquid-y and not as sticky. However, you can experiment with maple syrup and see if you like it :) And thank you for the kind words! So glad you like my recipes :)
@@NutritionRefined thank you so much for your detailed answer ! hmm i’m afraid i cannot find coco nectar anyway here and it’s interesting you say so mosg describe maple quite caramel ~ y !
Back to it ~ i either see date ~ nut butter as you mentioned Or just maple nut butter (without dates have you tried that one as well?) Or the one you haven’t talked about i think coconut sugar and coconut milk however that one has to be cooked.
Do you know that option?:)
Anyway i love how many types of caramel you can make in this vegan and healthier worlds and so many recipes use them i guess i was on a mission to find the most authentic but also simple one , with just few ingredients !
But probably the complexity of your recipe makes up for the divine taste thooo😄🫶🏼
What to substitute coconut nectar
HI Sara - the best substitute would probably be brown rice syrup (because it's just as sticky as coconut nectar).
This looks delicious! Do you think almond milk will work in place of the coconut milk?
Possibly, but I haven't tried it. If you don't like coconut milk, I would make cashew milk and try to match the consistency of full-fat coconut milk.
@@NutritionRefined thanks!!
No coconut nectar in South Africa.
May I use Maple Syrup or Agave ??
Hi Elsje - as I write on my blog - "Coconut nectar is one of the stickiest liquid sweeteners and works incredibly well here. Brown rice syrup is a good one too. Other liquid sweeteners, such as maple syrup, agave, yacon syrup, etc., are too thin to create a sticky caramel." You could still give it a go using maple syrup or agave; just know that the consistency of the caramel won't be the same.
Great! how long does it last?
Hi Cecilia - you can keep the caramel in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Thank you for the recipe. Does it have a strong taste of coconut? My husband does not like coconut and was wondering if it has a strong taste. Thank you
Hmm, a great question. I would say it does not taste like coconut, but I like coconut, so I might not be sensitive enough to taste it. You could replace the coconut nectar with brown rice syrup (which is another really thick and sticky sweetener) and try cashew cream instead of full-fat coconut milk.
@@NutritionRefined thank you so much for the help I appreciate it.😍
I missed you so much. Keep doing videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Aw, that's so kind! Thank you so much!❤️
@@NutritionRefined 🥰😘
Where can I get coconut nectar?
Hi Patty - I get mine in a local health food store or online (Whole Food Market carries it, for instance - I get the organic blonde coconut nectar by Big Tree Farms)
Would it work without nectar? with coconut milk and dates
It will work, but it won't be like caramel. Without the coconut nectar, it will be more like a date paste.
i would like to be the taste test reviewer in one of your videos haha love you
Lol, thank you! :)
Where can we purchase coconut nectar in Canada?
Online
I’ve also found it in my health food here in BC
Hi Angela - I second what others already said. I buy mine in a local health food store here in BC or online. The brand I really like is Organic Blonde Coconut Nectar by Big Tree Farms.
Nice 👍🏼 can you use coconut sugar in place of the nectar🌞
Unfortunately, no. You need a liquid, ideally thick and sticky, sweetener.
@@NutritionRefined Will #3 dark maple syrup be ok?
@@VanillaAttila I am so sorry for the late reply! I am just seeing it. Maple syrup is not sticky enough. Brown rice syrup, for instance, would be a great alternative.
@@NutritionRefined don't be sorry!! You're not responsible for answering me it's ok! What about maple syrup with molasses ? Or would that taste too metallic? Maybe a date syrup?
@@VanillaAttila Yea, date syrup would have pretty good consistency, but then the caramel would taste too much like dates, in my opinion. The coconut nectar just adds a different type of sweetness. I have never tried combining maple syrup with molasses, but you could give it a go :)
You are so sweet ❤️ Looks delicious ✨
Thank you so much!❤️
Such a relaxing video. It felt like dental office video.
Thank you⚘🌺🌼! May God Bless You.
Thank you Estela!❤️
Hmmm!!!
Your husband is more articulate on taste profiles than most food show host lol
Lol, that's great to hear :-D I won't tell him, though, cause it might get into his head!
@@NutritionRefined haha! Just want to say thank you. I don't know how you come up with these recipes and the time taken to experiment but you're the best.
Hi Petra, I clicked on the link above to receive a Raw Desert e-Cookbook and it tells me I've already subscribed so it didn't accept my request. Why? I have not requested one before, but I am subscribed to your channel. I guess it's one or the other?
Does he have any social media?
Unfortunately, Tanner doesn't have any social media accounts.
