I tried your recipe and loved it!!! Standing over the stove all day isn't my thing but I really do like the recipe. I did burn it the first time and I was cracking up at your part about the burnt caramel 🤣🤣🤣 but I tried it again and it's super easy. It just requires patience, that's all. Thanks for always being so willing to share!!!
I used to use Peter's and it is good but it's so expensive so I'm sticking with this one!
Great to hear this! I told y'all don't be trying to take a little break.😂
Love it
Thank you so much 😊
I made these apples using this recipe for the first time today. I’ll post the reviews I get back from my oh so honest friends.
The main thing is, what you think of them? You should be able to taste anything you make to see if it's good or not...lol. Never doubt yourself!
Obrigada por ensinar, 😘

Great video! This looks delicious! You seem like a pro!! I see all the burns on your arm. Very helpful now I have to buy all the stuff! I got a Trader Joe’s caramel apple kit but I don’t think it will work I need to make this homemade! 🎃
Thank you so much. They are soooo good. Yes, my arms are burned up! 😂 You are better off making the caramel homemade. Sometimes those kits don't work. Sometimes the caramel be sliding all down the apples from those kits....lol.😂
Made caramel apples today using your recipe. Amazing flavor. We do apples every year in October and your recipe is so good and easy. Only mistake I made - I refrigerated mine and decided to eat it straight out of the frig. Was way too hard. Need to let it set out for about 30 mins before eating. Perfect!
I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe. They are so good. You don't need to refrigerate these. How many did you eat? The only thing I don't like when making these is, I eat 3 to 4 back to back....lol.
Mine won’t get firm. The caramel runs off. I used cleaned apples and cold apples. Back to the drawing board I go. 🙂
Did you rinse your apples off or used the candy apple cleaning method? If you used the candy apple cleaning method, in which I recommend there's no need to refrigerate your apples. The caramel will stick unless you didn't let your caramel reach to 230-235. Use a candy thermometer if you are unsure of the temp. I hope this helps you.
Beautiful work and evened teaching. How far in advance can I make these and what's the refrigerator life?
Hello, Andrea! Thank you so much. These are different from candy apples. I can make these 2-3 days in advance and leave them out on the kitchen counter. These don't have to be refrigerated unless you want to or if your house is extremely humid or hot. I recommend candy apple boxes instead of candy apple bags.
Love your recipes!! Are your apples at room temp or cold, when dipping?
Room temperature
Thanks for sharing. Which Ghirardelli chocolate do you use?
You're so welcome. I use the wafers.
I live in asheville too!
Woot! Woot!💕Clint @LGR and @CrazyRussianHacker are from these mountains too. They are great content creators!
Thank you. Love your videos. How long after you dip the apples can you bag them or put in a candy apple box?
You’re so welcome. If you’re doing caramel it’s best to box them. You can box them as soon as they dry. This recipe firms up pretty well, so within 30 minutes you should be good to box.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you for replying.
You're so welcome!
That caramel recipes looks so delicious ❤ can't wait to try it! Do you ever add any salt to it? Or does the butter give enough salt?
If you’re using salted butter you don’t need any. If not add a pinch.💕It’s amazing!
Thank you! I'm so glad I found your channel
I'm glad you found me too.💕
Beautiful and thorough. Does the caramel dry with a skin or stay soft. Thank You
This is Southern, so it stays very soft but yet firm in which it doesn't fall off the apple.
How do you wash your apples.
Very nice. What kind of chocolate do you recommend to coat after.
Ghirardelli chocolate wafers, and melt them down.
I clean them like this: ruclips.net/video/JAtBn1TJjRI/видео.html
Hi first off nice work. My question is when you put them in bags do the stick to the bags?
Thank you. Don't put them in bags. Use the boxes. I have several candy apple boxes in my bake shop too. www.amazon.com/shop/diyqueendiva
Thank you!!!
You're so welcome.
Did you clean these using the 48 hr wait method, or can you use the apples the same day?
Hi! Nowadays the stores are putting so much wax on apples that I did clean my apples like candy apples except for the top.
Hey, love your video. Do the apples look like that before you dipped them in caramel because you had to heat them to remove the wax? We don’t have much wax on our apples in Ireland . We don’t have corn syrup either but we do have golden syrup which I will use instead
11/7/22: Hi! Can you tell me if it's a PACKED cup of brown sugar, or no? thanks! Jeannie
Responds back 11/07/2022.😂😂😂 You don’t have to pack it. I usually just stick my cup in the bag or pour it. Packed won’t hurt if that’s how you want to do it. I’ve done it both ways and they come out so good both ways. I hope this helps you.❤️
Hello. I have caramel mixture left. How do you recommend I reheat the caramel? Do I have to get it back to 235/240 temp before dipping?
Great question. I do it several ways. I guess it depends on how I store it. If I store it in Tupperware I usually just put mine in the microwave until it melts at the right consistency. If it's in a pot I just add either a little butter or a little condensed milk to get it going so it doesn't burn on the bottom. I don't even look at the temperature. Once it looks right I just take it off the stove. I hope this helps you.
Did you dip your apples in hot water to prep them?
I clean them like candy apples.❤
Hello if I have a pop up shop can I make the night before? And refrigerate? For the next morning?
Yes. I even let the caramel chocolate apples sit out on my kitchen counter because my house is always cool anyways, but make sure you let them come to room temperature when taking them out the refrigerator so the caramel is back soft.
Thanks! They look delicious really came on time I have a pop up next week I hate being stressed knowing I can make the night before is awesome! Thanks for your amazing video! Appreciate it!
You're so welcome.
Made them for the 1st time
Two things: I got air bubbles & also the caramel pooled a little too much at the bottom of the apples :/ what could have happened
For the first time you might have a slight issue, but the second time around will be a charm. The bubbles come from not cleaning your apples well. The caramel pooled too much because you needed to let the caramel cool off a little more. Always let your first apple be your tester. If the caramel is too thin or pooling at the bottom then let the caramel cool off a little longer, maybe 2 more minutes or so until it gets thicker. Dip that same apple again and see if those are the results you are looking for the second time. I hope this helps. How did they taste though? Attached is a video on how to strip the wax off your apples so you can have perfect caramel or candy apples: ruclips.net/video/1vxA4JlOvNU/видео.html💕
How long you let sit before dipping
With this caramel apple recipe you can dip as soon as the bubbles settle. Like right after a minute because this caramel is thick, firm, and soft at the same time. Let me know how they come out once you make them.💕
I love your recipes. Do you use real butter?
Thank you. Half the time I use Walmart's brand unsalted butter.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thanks so much
You're so welcome.💕
One more question if I do the cleaning process after 24 hours do I put them in the refrigerator and still wipe them down before dipping?
No do not put them in the refrigerator. Yes continue to wipe them down during the cleaning 24 hour process.
Good afternoon Queen, I made this recipe today, but my caramel stayed too soft. What can I do differently? The caramel flavor is to die for. Some of my granny smiths were way to sour to complement the caramel though. Thank you!
What are you over there doing...lol. If you don't want soft caramel, then what kind of caramel do you want, hard?...lol. It will be soft and chewy, but not too soft. Let it cook 5 degrees longer if you want them firmer. What temperature did you take it off the stove?💕
I be feeling like that caramel is too sophisticated for those Granny Smith apples too...LOLLLLLLLL! I'm so greedy I be switching it up when I am making them for myself, but I continue to use Granny Smith apples for the customers unless they request different apples.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Oh wow. First off, thank you for responding. Not many on RUclips do that. LOL. My first time making these. Yes ma'am, I want them soft, but how do I keep them from sticking to packaging? BTW, I ate 2. LOL. I love Asheville!
@@DIYQUEENDIVA OK. I've tried apples from Sprouts and Walmart. I think the Walmart apples are less tangy, which is good for making these delightful treats.
I respond to everyone...lol. You're so welcome...lol. Don't put caramel apples in plastic bags. Use candy apple boxes instead. You're going to eat more than two...LOLLLLL! Everyone says that until they encounter all of these black bears around here...lol.💕😂
How long should it take to make the caramel??? 🥰🥰
About 20-30 minutes.
Is the temperature in celcius or Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit💕
Hello, do you clean and dip the same day?
Don't do it!....lol.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thanks lol
Lol....you are so welcome!
Are the apples pre dipped before you dip them in the Carmel?
I stripped off the wax so the caramel will stick to the apples. I used my candy apple cleaning method with lemon juice, baking soda, and salt. Here's my tv series on my cleaning apple method if you need to see how it's done - ruclips.net/p/PLSve20__OpxHn2jrfGgn4H_zj7MSckuWR&si=yXJgQ8IG97RWXllz Let me know if you have any other questions. I hope this helps you.💕
Perfect! Thank you for your quick response.
You're so welcome. You got this!💕
Did you boil the wax off?
Yes, for 6 seconds like this with my candy apple cleaning method: ruclips.net/video/JAtBn1TJjRI/видео.html
Hello! This recipe was very easy. However it did stick to my apples. I did the cleaning method for 6 sec to remove the wax. The caramel is really good but it seems oily. I did 1 cup of everything. Can you tell me what I could have done wrong?
It shouldn’t be oily. I use this recipe too much.
It could be the butter you used. Did you use margarine or butter?
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Yes ma'am I used unsalted butter sticks. It has a wonderful flavor. But as soon as I dipped them the caramel started running off and the apple was left with an oily feeling.
This sounds like wax was still on the apples. So was the caramel running off the apples? If this is the case what was the temperature you took the caramel off the stove? Did you let your butter sit out at room temperature? How many sticks did you use? Did you continue to clean your apples during the 24-48 hour wait period? Or you just cleaned your apples for 6 seconds and that was it?
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I really appreciate you taking time to help. No I did not leave the butter out. When I dip the apple, the caramel slowly begins to run off. I took it off around 235-240. I let it sit for about 2 mins before trying to dip
You're so welcome.
I'm genuinely here to help you. Did you do only the 6 second clean? Or did you continue to wipe your apples down during the 24-48 hour wait period? I think I know what you did wrong?
How I keep the brown sugar from clumping up?
Hey! Melt your butter first before adding all of your ingredients then take it off the stove to add your other ingredients. Stir real good until everything is incorporated. Put back on the stove and stir continuously without stopping until your caramel reaches 235. Don’t go no higher than 4-5 on your stove. I hope this helps you.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA ☺️ thank you so much! Trying again today!
Your second time will be a charm.💕
Why does my caramel fallS off my apple?
Either you need to clean your apples to get the wax off or you didn’t let you caramel reach 230-240. I do 230-235. Make sure you have a candy thermometer for caramel if you are a beginner. I hope this helps you.
I don’t see the written recipe
I'll have to add it when I get a chance. I usually just show you in the video.💕
Why are they a little brown before? You dip, did I miss a step?
Yes, I clean my apples like I do my candy apples. This will assure me my caramel will stick on my apples without sliding off. Here’s my TV series on how I clean my apples before dipping: ruclips.net/p/PLSve20__OpxHn2jrfGgn4H_zj7MSckuWR
